Disney just released a censored version of Lilo & Stitch. There’s nothing reasonable about them.
Disney frequently enjoys keeping movies they own locked away, and they’re certainly not in the business of releasing old versions of anything.

Yeah. I nearly had the opposite thought. It felt like “wow why is the scene treating Luke like he’s this angelic figure?”
But then it all made sense when I remembered… “hypocrisy, hubris.” This is the Luke that island Luke looked back on and felt embarrassed by. Not because he was altogether wrong, but because of his pride.Agreed absolutely. Why would Luke bother to force crush a dark trooper instead of easily cutting it up, if not to demonstrate his own power? (And yes, I know the actual explanation for that is ‘It looks cool’) The Mandalorian’s Luke also compliments TLJ Luke by showing Luke’s effort to find students, and his saying “I will give my life to protect the child” - when he ultimately, indirectly, caused the deaths of his own students by mishandling Ben’s training - makes his self-hatred over that more powerful. I only wish Dave Filoni would talk about TLJ Luke in relation to his appearance in The Mandalorian, that might shut up a lot of people.
I think this analysis is Ironic, because people only bring up this narrative when discussing Luke, no one else in the force. Luke is the only one that is not allowed to show power, Anakin should, Obi wan, Yoda, and even the newbies - Rey and Kylo, showcasing immense abilities despite their lack of training. Everyone enjoys those, but when its Luke - ‘Hold on!’
Not really. Especially with Yoda. The Force should be used for knowledge and defence, I think someone said that somewhere.
Really interesting to see which elements that make it feel more alive, especially the given time and budget restrictions. The wig though hahah.
Oh I totally get what they were going for in the movie, but they should have just named a Jedi Academy after him something. Instead of a random old lady in the middle of nowhere (on foot!) it should be an eager new recruit checking out a newly opened temple. Then again I would have had Kylo not die and then he’d be the one wandering into the desert to search for his own true self. Y’know like in a good script.
Yeah but that comes out of nowhere and isn’t a fitting conclusion to what began in The Force Awakens. She needed to grow past the shallow need to fit in and have a father figure, and become a whole person. Instead it’s just regression.
The way it merges with the vocals in the credits is beautiful. The rest is fine since it’s a fantasy movie from 1983. It’s not supposed to sound like something from a lame pan-pipes compilation played in a New Age gift shop in 1997.
Rey accepting herself for who she is instead of just pretending to be Luke’s long lost daughter would be a logical end to the character arc instead of just nonsense.
How can you not like it when it’s dark a gritty and Darth Vader gets out his red lightsaber.

The character archetypes being used for their clash were incredibly simplistic, I’m not sure what there is to argue about. People feel frustrated because that’s the point, you’re only seeing his perspective. Whether Poe actually learns anything on the other hand, who can say. TROS threw out that development and he doesn’t really lead anyone or do anything important.

The plot of Rogue One should have been that Galen Erso secretly recorded every detail about the station just in case someone could analyse it later, not that it had a built in flaw that anyone loyal to the project would report intermediately. Especially when the flaw itself is just the reactor. I’m pretty sure any machine using a volatile energy source in SW has that flaw.
Oh yeah Nien Nunb was like a hero in Kenya or somewhere. These other characters not so much.

While I agree with the thread title, I can’t deny the fact that the Yoda vs Palpatine duel in RotS is a guilty pleasure of mine! 😛
That being said, I absolutely hated the Yoda vs Dooku duel in AotC, and the Palpatine vs Windu/Council duel in RotS.
The Council duel is hilariously bad.
