I tell you if I had the money I would go for it, but I am up to my head in this Superman BETA thingy. Finding a Beta player that works with these tapes suc.

A 70mm print would be sweet though.

They were released in Europe theatrically - Damn!! a widescreen version exists somewhere?

We need a theatrical restoration.

This was my favorite growing up, I remember being a 6 year old and watching it on TV. I remember the Chinease Connection the most.

No vapor on this project! We are working on getting everything together to begin the project but I have problems with a couple of itmes -

1. I need a Beta Player other than SONY ( that is the one I have and my other friend has the same one that tracks bad), I keep bidding for one on EBAY and get outbid, outbid, outbid. It is driving me nuts.

The copy I have on BETA looks wonderful but it tracks horrible on my SONY. I need someone that has a BETA player to get involved to do the transfer and I am still looking (for that someone) and still bidding on EBAY daily.

2. A BETA player, ugh!!! lol!!!!

I also have the original BETA making of Superman I and II but it tracks poor on my SONY -

I know it's not the player becuase my original KING KONG 3 hour TV version works fine still, I just tested it again.

Hopefully something comes up soon.

I have received a BETA of the original Superman KCOP TV version from a fellow person here on the boards.
I had a friend try and transfer it but he had a SONY deck which doesn;t seem to track very well. I am trying to find someone with a deck other than SONY becuase it seems it has tracking problems. The person I got the tape from had a SONY deck as well. I am looking into gettting a DECK on EBAY. I also have a BETA original tape of the two tape making of Superman I and II so if I get a deck I am going to trasnfer that as well. That tape also trackd poor on a SONY? Does anyone have a BETA player.

BTW!! I am doing very well on capturing the material I need for this edition or restoration - I have recieved several tapoes and have found my original ABC cut as well. Things are going good, however, this BETA tape is far superior and fcould end up being the holy grail of the Superman extended if we can get it to track.

I think my copy is darn good and my of the TV version (see above)- and my fullscreen is directly from the laserdisc and it's not half bad.

Awesome! As for the film - I still wish the BBC when they releaed the specail longer version in widescreen 5 years ago would not have cropped it - why would they have done this? They even billed it as widescreen! I just don't understand why that network would do that?

But you have made me forget about this with your release -

Question - what are you doing about the Checkov hadn spray scene then?

I am confused, the version I have looks cropped??? look at the videos side by side

What it looks like is that the station cropped the film becuase it's there and in better shape than any other television version. So they cropped the full frame version??? this is what it appears to have happened?

That sucks and I never even relized it...... ???

I have now re-uploaded and am seedng Once Upon a Time in the West - at that demon place - right now it is under no name but as soon as it's fully downloaded by my friend then we will seed together - shouldn;t be long.

Hey I am confused on this smirk shot, Can you upload a screen shot so I know exactly what to look for -

This is a screen grab from the extended TV Cut, it doesn't look widescreen because of the darkness of the screen grab, but it is as you can tell by the blue in the top center. Anyways!!

I am assuming that there is something after this shot?
