Idea: Has anyone done an edit of JOURNEY BACK TO OZ: Extended TV Version?
Time

This would be an interesting project  I never even knew a TV cut existed, lol I tought I was the GURU on Tv cuts....

I like this project idea. To be honest I have never knew anyone to have this.

?Just how much footge is missing? What scenes are not on the disc? Please details?

From IMDB.om

  • There was no Wizard in the theatrical release...but in the network TV version there was! He was played in live-action sequences by Bill Cosby, and the sub-plot was to get the children back to Kansas to join Dorothy for Christmas. The TV version runs 96 minutes.

    A Legend Reborn - 76' WIP Project?
    Time
Teaser Trailer for - The Legends Reborn
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGmDI__p1gY
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tagline : The most exciting original motion picture event of all time.

    PhineasBg and Nighthawks Fan Videos
    Present

King Kong: The Legend Reborn WIP (1976 Version)

Start date of projects: Pre-Development Stage (8/24/2008)

    Estimated release dates:
    Extended Version - *TBA
    Restored NBC Cut - *TBA

Notes about the NBC original broascast:
For its three hour, two-part original television broadcast NBC added over 45 minutes of additional material.

    The Edits -

I have obtained several copies of this version over the years and we are discussiing TWO new restoration projects. Starting today the projects will include restoring the complete 3 -Hour NBC Original broadcast cut (Full Screen) as well as creating an extended fan edit of the film in full widescreen.

For this restoration we will be using:

King Kong - Japanses laserdisc w/ original englsih audio soundtrack
King Kong - An original german television airing
King Kong - BlueRay Transfer from the now OOP European Disc.
King Kong - American Paramount original DVD and VHS
King Kong - American DVD release
King Kong - Dutch DVD widescreen
King Kong - Austrailian DVD widescreen
    King Kong - 3 - Hour Televison Broadcast - 4 different copies -
    Kng Kong  - French DVD
Some of these DVDs and Videos include alterate angles of footage in which we will use for the fan edit.

King Kong - The Legend Reborn - The NBC Broadcast - Notes -
The three hour edition will include digitally restored picture and audio. This version will be presented in Full Screen open matte to retain the original NBC broadcast aspect ratio.

King Kong - The Legend Reborn Fan Version - Notes -
This version will be a fan edit of the film and feature a all new 16:9 Anamorphic Widecreen transfer in 2:35.1. I have obtained an extras scene that is not available anywhere form an OOP japanese laserdisc, so this will truely be a special edit.

If anyone follows PhineasBG and Nighthawks edits which include the Highlander 2 Zeist Editions, Halloween 5 PBG Cut and the upcoming Dune: Third Stage then they will know we are out to have fun. Often we (joyfully) spend several months or even a year in some cases (Highlander 2 EZV) to finish and edit. We also tend to be in no hurry to provide sub-par projects and will spend tons of time gathering material, going over possibilities, discussions, audio and video tests, gathering information, script searching, hand-painting scratches out of film, hand cleaning dirt, etc. In the end we want to create these projects for our enjoyment and hope others will enjoy them along with us. If you have any King Kong material which you would like to donate for the DVD editions please contact us.

This movie has a special place in my heart because I own an original BETA taping of this version. I watched the airing with my father when it originally aired and he recorded it fotr me on the player. I remember years later we lost the tape and we searched for it for years. I also kept a watchful eye out for the airing of the extended version but they never aired it again ( Much like the alternate cut of Eastwood Dollar movie ) Later I found the tape in a box Marked (TAPES to throw away) go figure, thanks MOM, lol! . I can promise you regardless of what people think of this film (subpar remake, etc,) that we will put the full effort into the restoration of this CLASSIC broadcast.

For the record I love the film. Well mostly because I think they did an awesome job on KONG and ofcourse I like the DUDE Jeff Bridges, he rules, as well as a hot supporting actress (we all know who) HOT!!

    Thanks
NOTE: WE HAVE SEVERAL EDITS IN THE WORKS BUT I WAS BORED SO I CREATED A TRAILER. THIS PROJECT IS (WHAT IT IS, A PROJECT) PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DISCUSS.

Waterworld ABC Cut? A ton of info - see McFly's posts for details (Released)
    Time

    mcfly89 cut -

Remember these words - "WIDESCREEN IS WORSER"

I am willing to bet that the new release will be a cropped version of the film. In mcfly89s documentary he explains why in the case of this film Widescreen isn't that great.

So if you want the full picture (which I do) then mcfly89s version is the way to go. So I would recommend snatching that while you can.

So in a sense it still is a fan edit of some sorts, to me atleast.

I'm currently trying to pick up the remaining songs from the H2 movie that's not on the soundtrack CD. I have the H2 soundtrack plus the combo H1-H2-H3 soundtrack as well as the An Emotional Fish CD with "That Demon Jive" on it. I also have the Gerry Laffy CD on its way with "Shoot 'em down" on it. I've tried contacting Meredith Brooks regarding the otherwise unreleased "One Breath Away" but am still awaiting response.

The piece from "Götterdämmerung" with soloist Birgit Nilsson (incorrectly spelled Nillson in the credits) is on my want list but it demands a fairly big chunk of money (even more if you decide to get the whole Niebelungen set...).

There are still a few songs missing which appear to be completely unattainable.

Would be great to put together an extended soundtrack! IM me!

Batman Forever - Dark Knight Edition (Released)
    Time
I think we need a talented fan editor to step up and cut something as close to the original cut as possible using the deleted scenes.

I have discussed this with my team and we are interesed in and edit. I have begun to start putting together DVDs, and to obtain other footage. Keep in mind it took me over a year (EACH) get all the footage and material we needed for the Highlanders and Dune. Right now we are working on Superman - The Movie - then two other projects. BUT after that it's a possibilty.

What we would want to do would be to get together (in email format) with someone who has saw this edit. If we are to truely re-create this edit (or close to it) then we  will have to start with discussions with people who have scene it.

To do Batman Forever JUSTICE is what we would be looking for.  Nothing can take away from an actuall official released verion of a film but we can attempt ( LIKE DUNE AND THE HIGHLANDERS) to create a WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN!

So, like Highlander, Dune, Supeman, Superman II,  Kong, I will need your help.

I have purchased the Batman Forever - Special Edition

What else alternate footage, audio, etc, is out there that we can get our hands on?

I heard something about the blue screen ending? Were is this footage? Is their footage in  trailers also? I want to get all this stuff together so that when we do start we will be ready to go.  Again, this is a future project, we are already working on a ton of things right now so don;t expect TODAY, lol! Everyone knows Phineasbg and our edits soemtimes take a year to complete. BTW!! DUNE - THIRD STAGE  IS offically done, thanks god, lol!

    Thanks

David Lynch's - DUNE - The Third Stage Edition (Released)
    Time

    Specs  you'' nee also,

David Lynch's DUNE: The Third Stage Edition

What is it about?  This is a special widescreen edit of David Lynch's DUNE that reintegrates footage from the Extended Cut, as well as some deleted scenes, while attempting to preserve Lynch's vision.  Also, unfinished extended scenes have been fixed so eyes are digitally colored blue.  The movie has been edited in such a way to preserve much of the sound and music of the theatrical cut, while incorporating Lynch's scenes from the Extended Cut.  Removed are the unapproved prologue paintings, male narrator, and fake "constructed" scenes from the Extended Cut.  Various drafts of the script have been used to put scenes in a logical order.  Our intent was to make an extended cut of DUNE that would treat Lynch with respect.

    Original Film Name: DUNE
    Film Studio Name: Universal
Date Film Was Released: December 1st, 1984
Date Re-Edit Was Released: Sept 2008

Original Runtime: 137 min (Theatrical Cut)
    New Runtime: 177 min
Amount of Time Cut/Added: 40 minutes added to the theatrical cut.

Sorry for the double-post. I was in a bad mood tonight and decided to work on some photoshop projects to calm myself. Odd, I know. Anyway, I scrapped several ideas for my cover that I may yet go back to... however, here's a cross between what I was doing and something more simple:

    http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/772/hl2previewwk5.jpg
    http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/772/hl2previewwk5.6000df1adc.jpg

Edskizzorhands, I hope you don't mind me using your art there. I'm not claiming it as my own and could easily put a small disclaimer at the bottom stating that the cover insets are yours. I want to do a "fan-made DVDs"/"don't support piracy" one anyway.

The main thing I'd like to hear about this design is if the title treatment suits and if the poster looks okay color-wise. If people like this design I can easily modify the backs to create four covers with the same front. One for each different version. Obviously those covers would be for the people who only want 1 version of Highlander 2 and choose their favorite from your offerings. You wouldn't want 4 DVDs with the same front cover.

    Anywho... thoughts?

P.S. Mitch, do you have a PhineasBG/Nighthawks logo I could use on the back or the spine?

This looks awesome! Lot's of work! You expressed interest on how to obtain copies of the films, I may be able to help ;-)  IM me.

Also - We don't have a logo just the names are fine ;-)

I love this box set cover!

    Two changes -

The text for Special Zeist Edition - instead of saying this is the renegade version with one sequence reinstated.

    Try!

This version follows the renegade sequence of events but restores the Zeist narrative as well as one sequence.  etc.

people will get confused in that it seems like we just added one scene.

Also, The REEV Disc - has a Trailer, Chapter Selection included You did not note teh Trailer on your cover?  -

The SZE - does not have a trailer ( but you noted it?) - The SZE is just the movie only with chapter selection.

no biggy but people would probably be emailing us left and right wondering what the hey!! lol!!

     Thanks man!!!!

James Bond 007 WARHEAD (* unfinished project *)
    Time

I had ideas of an opening where you could edit it in a way that uses footage from other movies -

Open at hotel somewhere ( this should be easy to find, a shot of a hotel from another movie)  and show a nice car pulling with someone  getting out - show a facial shot of Bond (from another movie) looking around.

Next he is in the hotel room ( another facial shot)  - you don't have to show his face just the computer screen of him getting a message with discussion of that this one is off the books. No one can know of this assignemnt.

You could even create this text on your own computer - It would have to be early computer emailing of some sorts.

Maybe throw in dialog that suggests his vaction is over -

then it goes in to the full on Bond credit soundtrack -

This would be a good way to set it up and extend it a little. If you need help let me know!! I am not really a Bond fan but I like this idea of Warhead.
