I just can't get this out of my head: there has got to be some logical reason why these aren't going to be anamorphic (other than "Lucas trying to screw the fans over"). No matter how bad you wanted to prove a point, I doubt you would risk your company's reputation...right?!?!?!?!?

Well, there's the official line as I received from Lucasfilm Ltd. Publicity Rep John Singh that the LaserDisc source is the source "which represents the best restoration that has been possible on the original movies".

Whether this means that there doesn't exist a print or that Lucas won't allow a print to be made available is open to interpretation. Theories abound since Lucas went on a Star Wars film recall spree years ago and apparently destroyed all the prints he could get his hands on.

Ahem.

WB were the ones who shifted gears over to The New Batman Adventures

How George Lucas created the O-OT fanbase...

I begged my Mom for my first VCR so that I could buy a tape of Star Wars and watch it, and I bought a LD player so I could watch the OOT on LD. I'm sure many others can say the same.

Lucas cannot seem to grasp this concept, which is a shame, as a proper OOT DVD release would earn him tons of money. Sigh. Pray.

Yeah, that'll REALLY help...

Yes, like I keep saying, we really don't want to piss him off.

And would the IMDB really listen to us?

must.....not...buy....but...menus....are....sooo......cool......aargh!

LOL! "You want this....don't you?"

Seriously those menus are facking awesome, I might just buy these when they go on discount at Tower Records, but arg I don't want them at the same time cuz I'm holding out for the Saga set. *Sighs*

What if the saga set doesn't contain the OOT, which it looks like it probably won't?

I am definatley not buying them until I see some kind of video clip from it, or am able to preview them in some way.

I'm undecided. If it looks like something I could live with, but still mumble and grumble a little, then fine. But I will not buy them if they truley do suck.

I won't suck as much as a fan edit.

A fan edit is a completely different thing. In any case, this is in essence the same as the bootlegs that have circulated for years, but it is made by a multi-billion dollar company and they expect us to pay full price for it.

Not by much, and nowhere near what it should be.

Amen.

I was thinking more along the lines of a month, if necessary. Does anyone know Mr. Sylvester and think that we could get his help? Along with Mr. Vuerta and Mr. Bulk, I find him one of the most intimidating people here, so I don't want to bug him .

Hey, Mike. A month would put us past the DVD release, so it most likely wouldn't be big news to the magazines anymore.

Now, if someone had a seedy inside scoop on the decision process inside Lucasfilm that resulted in NOT putting the OOT on its own release, then that might make it into print after-the-fact.

As far as the Mr's you mentioned, I think someone already PM'd Jay, didn't they? In the previous thread ("Addresses and Contacts")? I don't think I know the other two gentlemen.

I was hoping that we could get the new out so that we could make some noise before the 30th Box next year.

For crying out loud.....when is this bullshit going to end?

I seriously doubt that the OOT will be in this set. I think we're getting the 9/12 release for two reasons....one is curb the bootlegs and the other reason is so he doesn't have to release them ever again. I think that's why it's a limited release only. Lucas is doing it to get them out there, so he can say they're out there and we should leave him alone.

I wasn't going to buy the 9/12 release, but I'm going to now cuz I don't think we're ever going to see the OOT again. This is it and we mind as well not miss it.

I think that we'll see the OOT again. As for more changes, I thought that that was a foregone conclusion.
