I’m trying to collect all of Bob Dylan. Still waiting on that Complete Album Collection: Volume 2.

I’m glad your dad is OK, Ender. It’s certainly concerning, but I do send all of my well-wishes, and hope for the best for both you and him.
In all fairness, the only Trek she enjoys is/are the new movies.
IV seems to be the one with the most mainstream, non-Trek fan appeal
I’d consider myself a casual more mainstream Trek fan and I really dislike IV.
Really? That’s interesting. My aunt usually can’t stand any Trek, and she really enjoy IV. Wasn’t it the highest-grossing one prior to
prior to Abrams Star Wars in drag reboot
What.
What is the general opinion of the Kelvin-verse Trek around here? I know a few longtime Trekkies who really aren’t big on it. I personally like it OK, but think there’s very little of the intellectual moral problems and mind-bending sci-fi plots that marked Trek at its best, but it’s a fun laser light show.

What.
I thought I’d heard every disparaging remark in the last 9 years, but this is a new one on me. I mean, I get what the insult is supposed to be, what with it being a movie about a guy who rejects the call, then follows the call and saves the day.
I don’t know it was necessarily supposed to be a disparaging remark; I don’t hate Abrams Trek as much as some fans do, and I think there’re a lot of things to recommend (mostly related to the cast), but I do think it lost almost all of the intelligence in Abrams’ hands.
Nothing new in it really, but a new Gizmodo article:
http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2017/09/why-hasnt-disney-released-the-original-unaltered-star-wars-films/
I kind of wish a lot of noise was made about this, especially with Reed’s recent Tweet. I don’t think it’d change Disney’s mind of anything, but it’d nice if the cause got a little more exposure.
In all fairness, the only Trek she enjoys is/are the new movies.
IV seems to be the one with the most mainstream, non-Trek fan appeal, prior to Abrams Star Wars in drag reboot, though I enjoyed Beyond quite a bit more than the first two. The big in Discovery looked like the same bridge set from Into Darkness.
I’ve been reading Geoff Johns New 52 Justice League. Sigh. I had such high hopes.
Skip anything and everything from the New 52 and go into Rebirth. Actually, the JL book still sucks, but I’m enjoying Superman (editorial costume mandates aside), and I’ve heard great things about other books. Or go backwards and read older stuff, but seriously, I highly recommend avoiding most, if not all, of the New 52.
I’ve heard good things about The Flash, Action Comics, Scott Snyder’s Batman run, Wonder Woman, Batwoman, Swamp Thing, Nightwing, Resurrection Man, All-Star Western, O.M.A.C., and the darling of the whole thing, Animal Man. Johns started another Justice League books shortly thereafter, and apparently the Justice League International book was actually kind of fun.
If I’d known Mignola didn’t do the interior artwork, I probably would’ve skipped this. As is, it’s just an unremarkable Lovecraft pastiche with ugly artwork.
5/10
Have you read Gotham by Gaslight? It’s a classic Mignola Batman one shot…
Yeah, gorgeous artwork too. They’re doing it as the next in the DCU animated movies line.
I thought it was suppose to be one of those Trek situations where, at least in theory, the idea was that both characters were supposed to have a somewhat valid moral point and there weren’t easy answers.
New information? And where have you been hearing about him? Lol
I’d hear him referenced from time to time, but never heard this particular disturbing tidbit.

I heard a lot of references to AWK. I always kind of wondered who he was. I knew he was a fan of the prequels and the SEs (which he’s obviously entitled to), but this new information is not something I was familiar with, and is frankly disturbing.
I’m not a huge fan of Abrams, but his flag-waving for 35mm earns him lots of points in my book.
So, who watched the Discovery premier?
I don’t think Avatar is a terrible movie, it’s just so much money spent in the service of the creation of new technology for such an utterly pedestrian story.
I want to thank everyone here for the kindness and support that has not only been shown to me, but continues to be. It’s nice to have a place to be able to vent without being judged and have listening ears (Or keyboards, but whatever). I still have a long way to go towards ever being back to where I should, if I ever will be, but it’s nice to know that I can come here and have friends who’ll listen. I have a few in real life, as it were, but not a ton, and having you all here has really been an nice way to be able to get some of my problems down and try to organize my thoughts and just generally receive help, advice, and simple kindness. I guess that in a long winded, pretentious, and altogether unnecessary way, I’m simply saying “Thanks, guys.” You’ve all been kind, caring, and just plain old nice. So thanks. It means a lot.
See, I think that the prequels have a couple of problems.
A couple?
I’m trying to avoid Lucas-bashing and be as fair as I can.
2020
See, I think that the prequels have a couple of problems. They suffer from a push-pull; like Sergio Leone, I think Lucas started to want to have bigger ideas and even political ones, but they were at odds with the kids adventures he’d created to be the Star Wars world. Also, I think the main problem is this: the prequels have many interesting concepts and ideas in them, but their writing and direction fall so flat. Lucas still stages action sequences well, but simply has no skill with actors or dialogue. As a result, the cool, archetypal, epic battle between good and evil is mired in the whining of Hayden Christensen (May not be his fault, don’t know, with the character he’s stuck with, it’s hard to tell) and inane dialogue: “You underestimate my power!” “Love won’t save you.” “You’re breaking my heart!” Cringe-worthy, almost laugh-out loud funny dialogue doesn’t sell the good story (and it often is a good story) that Lucas came up with. He’s a great idea man and a good producer, but he needs other people to help him execute the ideas well. It’s a shame, because there’s a lot of potential there. I wouldn’t hate the prequels at all if they weren’t part of the reason for the constant changes to the OT, however. At worst, I’d probably be indifferent to them.

Oh boy, take another look at Reeds Twitter comment … especially what that self-proclaimed ‘huge nerd’ Rae Ivywood has to say.
It’s fun to think that a grassroots Twitter campaign could get the OOT could get more attention. It won’t happen, but it’s fun to imagine.
I wonder how many times people, in this thread, have said one of the following things:
- This is obviously the reason it hasn’t been released!
- This is the reason it will be/won’t be released!
- It’s obviously going to be released in [insert year here]!
- But [insert name of person here] said so!
Perhaps this could become a drinking game.
Well, I think that hoping for it before 2020 is a fool’s errand. IF it’s happening, I think we have to buckle down and accept that’s the absolute earliest, if it’s happening at all.
They have no reason to keep waiting past May of 2020.
I’m not going to hold my breath until then, but the situation with Fox is very obviously the reason it hasn’t happened just yet.
But 2020 is so fucking far away!
Huh. I didn’t know we were on Twitter.
Lol, it’s the first Announcement at the top of every subforum.

Ah, so it is! I have drain bammage. Sorry. Carry on.

Damn, everything Harmy does in this damn thing just impresses me more and more.
Peyton Reed, director of Ant Man, tweeted this yesterday.
"Dear Lucasfilm,
Please release a Blu-ray of the original, unmessed-with version of STAR WARS I loved when I was 13.
Thanks,
Peyton"
And retweeted at the OT twitter. Thanks for finding that.
Huh. I didn’t know we were on Twitter. How many followers do we have?

He’s worked for Disney too. Won’t mean anything in the long run, or the short run for that matter, but it was nice of him to articulate what we’ve all been saying for many years.
Yeah, and I’m spending tomorrow night with Alexandra Daddario 🙄.
Oh my God, How could I have lived until today without knowing Alexandra Daddario?
She’s purty.
I can’t help but be inclined to think, especially with the color-timing controversy, that Cameron may be indulging in some revisionism of his own, but maybe I’m just paranoid.
I want to fucking reset the play count of multiple songs in iTunes, but iTunes has removed the ability for me to do this and I can’t find a workaround.
I have a serious first-world problem here 😉 😄.
Select multiple tracks, then right-click, click on Get Info, then click Reset.
The new version of iTunes removed that.
Ah, so, it has returned. I’m a brainless fucking idiot. Carry on.
Unfortunately, now they’ve removed the ability to sync apps, and I have no idea if there’s a new program or what, judging by what’s on Apple’s official website, there’s not.
You’re supposed to download apps on your phone now.
I see. And suppose it was easier to keep them Organized moving them in iTunes and then syncing them up? And now iOS 11 has removed the useful features on the keyboard! Does Apple test any of this before unleashing it on an unsuspecting public?
Clearly the testers are highly impractical or not much use 😉.
Roger that. Last time.
Anyway, I don’t remember seeing Matte lines on my version.
Damn, my Despecialized only came with lossy DD 2.0. That’s what I get for paying 😉.
