Uploading Author icon - Problems
Time
At first it was telling me it was too large, so I tried several smaller/lower-res versions
then I wasn't getting any error message at all, just the generic message that you get before you attempt to add an avatar.

I'm going to give it one more shot and then I'm giving up! :P LOL

EDIT: I just tried a .gif version, and that's not working either. :(
I guess it's "catface" for all of eternity now (if I can get that back up there, that is).

I'm having to re-enter my user name and password every time I come to the site,
Checking the "remember me" box doesn't seem to help, either.

Silly question: do you have cookies disabled? "Remember me" requires a cookie. If you do have cookies enabled, try clearing them out.

What browser are you using?
My cookies are enabled, but I'm using an old
browser (Netscape 7.0).

At least now the password manager in my browser seems to be entering my password and user name in the
boxes automatically, so I don't have to type them in manually anymore.
No biggie. :)

It's weird, the saga (or OT, heh) is full of amazing action, but the emotinal and dialogue scenes do it for me
Time
Yeah, I agree. Some of my favorite scenes are the Tatooine sunset, Ben's death, the carbon freeze scene, the scene where Yoda gets Luke's x-wing out of the bog, the funeral pyre scene....most of those don't have much dialogue but I also love the bickering scenes with Luke/Han, Han/Leia.

Classic Edition: The Empire Strikes Back by Ocpmovie (Released)
Time
I watched this for the first time last night, and I was really impressed. I really couldn't see the edits and couldn't tell the difference between the DVD and LD footage. I did notice some of the "jerkiness" that some others here mentioned (mostly towards the end of the film in a shot of a cloud car flying and of Piett walking) but not a whole lot.

I'm also amazed that I never noticed the music editing during the Boba Fett escape scene, and that the music had ended before the scene was over.

IMHO, this is really all one could hope for in a fan edit- the clarity and resolution of the '04 DVDs, but with none of the glaring SE changes.

I look forward to watching OCP's ANH and ROTJ classic edits.

The old indy set was a complete POS. Hopefully this new set has a better transfer, better audio.

It's doubtful that it's going to be new transfers with new audio. Most likely it's the same transfers, same audio, just like when they split up the '04 SW transfers and released them individually in '06- same transfers, same audio.

Roger Ebert has the best view on Star Wars of any critic I've read
Time
I remember that Roger's review of TPM was fairly positive (thumbs-up), and his review of AOTC was pretty scathing (thumbs-down). I think he also gave a thumbs-up to ROTS. I have a feeling Gene Siskel wouldn't have been as kind to them.

I used to have Roger and Gene's original 1983 "at the movies" reviews of ROTJ on audiotape, but it's lost. They both loved ROTJ, as a matter of fact I think that entire show was dedicated to ROTJ and the other 2 SW films. I remember they showed a clip of that ROTJ show when they reviewed the SE in 1997.

*sigh* why does this feel like a stupid Lucas decision? That pisses me off... maybe he had it in mind all along to rename the trilogy, but didn't have the photoshop technology to do it LOL
Yeah, that title definitely has GL's stink all over it.

Anyone else here have a love/hate relation with Revenge of the sith ?

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but if the OOT gets released, I think it might increase my interest in Star Wars again.

As we go longer and longer without a respectably-presented version of the OOT, I feel more and more insulted by Lucas and his lack of respect for some of his fans. If he can repair that relationship by releasing the OOT, I'll feel more comfortable about the other parts of the SW franchise. I might start buying action figures again. And I might even be able to get back into the books.

Yeah, I could go that way too. I see Star Wars stuff in the store, and just reflexively I'm turned off because I can't understand how a Vader Mr. potato head is deemed worthy of the cost and effort of designing, manufacturing, packaging, shipping, but a restoration of the actual movie isn't.
I agree.

The OOT not being properly released has definitely put a damper on my enthusiasm for anything related to the films. It's just really hard to excited about collectibles when I'm so bitter about the whole DVD situation.

I would have a much better attitude about all of the silly toys, etc., if the OOT was released on blu-ray, but as it stands now, all the stupid Mr. Potato Heads or whatever just piss me off to no end when I see them.

Yup, the consensus on the Home Theater Forum is that the extras on these releases are lame. The documentary from the boxed set isn't even carried over, so these DVDs are probably only going to be of interest to anyone who didn't buy the 2003 set and/or anyone who's only interested in buying one movie (Raiders, presumably).

The Blu-ray is coming, don't worry.

Why do PT defenders and such keep claiming the OT was badly written as well ?!
Time
"Why do PT defenders and such keep claiming the OT was badly written as well ?!"

That was my main reason for leaving another SW messageboard (before finding this one). Actually, the nimrods there were professing the superiority of the PT over the OT.

I really don't see how anyone can actually believe that the dialogue in the OT was as bad as the dialog in the PT. None of the SW movies were perfect but there are some truly wonderful, funny, touching, memorable lines in the OT.

I don't recall the exact quote, but I remember seeing Roger Ebert review AOTC on his TV show, and he said something to the effect of "I can't imagine anyone reciting a line from this movie with any joy". That pretty much sums it up.

Info: Cool or Unusual Star Wars Collectibles
Time
That unopened box of Puffs tissues reminded me of my still-unopened ROTJ toothbrushes that I got in 1983. I think they may have been purchased prior to my seeing the film, so this may have been a first glimpse at Luke's black outfit, green saber and Anakin Skywalker:

Oral-B also had a free poster give-away with the purchase of a toothbrush. It was a VERY cool poster of Luke and Vader dueling.

While we're on the topic of music, I just wanted to throw the suggestion out there to perhaps consider using the "Binary Sunset (Alternate )" archival bonus track from the 2-disc soundtrack. It's an amazing piece of music that I wish had made it somewhere into at least one of the films.
