Why is the GOUT not anamorphic?

upscaling a non anamorphic video master will not give you more resolution

Gout of Star Wars 1977 is pretty much unwatchable.

I was going to make the same point about the resolution.

However, I personally don't find the GOUT unwatchable. It's not what it should be or what I want it to be, but I can watch it and enjoy it.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

Say, this is a bit off-topic, but I was just wondering if anyone knows why Carrie Fisher adopted a fake accent during her part with Tarkin. It was obviously a conscious decision (if it wasn't, they would've told her to cut it out, no?), so why was it done?
I remember reading in one of the SW "making of" books that she attended acting school in London, so she sometimes had a bit of a British accent when acting.

I've been staring at that screen all day, and I never noticed the tape deck. Maybe Ady can erace that for us now that its all we can see...

I guess I win the prize! :P I don't think Ady will want to erase it, though.

While we are on the subject... do we actually see any other parts of the X-wing control panel in the other SW movies? I know we see the targeting computer in ANH. It would be nice to have the controls match in all three movies if they don't already.

I think we see the control panel during both of Luke's trips to Dagobah in ESB and ROTJ, but I don't remember if it's the same.

Star Wars: Classic Edition by Ocpmovie (Released)

One year later... any suggestions on how I can get the DL versions OCP original trilogy? Appears he's been banned and the torrent landscape has shifted a bit since the last posts.

From the descriptions of the various OT edits around it does look like these are the ones to have.

Thanks
reave has a PiF thread in this forum and he was giving away some copies of OCP's classic editions (don't know if they're DL, though). Seems like he has a couple copies of OCP's ROTJ left:

I've only seen OCP's ESB so far, and I really liked it. I like the idea of using the best-quality material where you can, and using the GOUT or LDs to fill in the rest.

I believe correllian77 is correct, the space slug is a hand puppet, not a stop-motion figure.

I think a similar technique was used for the slug as was used for the Rancor- the film was slowed down (or shot at a faster frame rate) so that they would appear more massive and lumbering when the film was projected back.

So... your opinion of how much Lucas really had planned out?
Time

After giving it a little more thought, I think that he only had a general idea and not the whole saga; because remember, there were some drafts of ROTJ where Coruscant is where the final battle took place. And then the whole Wookiee vs. Ewok thing.

I guess this leads to something more... do you hate Lucas for what he's "done" to the series?

What ended up as the ewok battle in ROTJ came from an idea about a Wookie battle,
right? And he made Chewie Han's co-pilot because he didn't know if he was ever
going to make another film to show the Wookie planet, so he put Chewie in there just
in case.

As far as hating Lucas for what he's done to the series, I don't "hate" him, but I am
royally pissed at him. The Prequels sort of sully the whole franchise- to the extent
that they are able to. They're not taken as seriously and they're not as loved as
the OT, so I guess they can only damage the legacy of the OT so much.

I'm far more upset about the Special Edition vs OOT situation, because I can
ignore the prequels, but it's hard to ignore the SEs since the OOT hasn't been
given a proper release.

According to the old interviews, he had the whole OT planned out as one film,
realized it was too much for one movie so made SW out of the first third of the story.
I guess I believe that much.

Obviously, the Leia/Luke relationship wasn't fully planned out yet. Like most things,
a lot got changed during the process.

But, I definitely don't buy that the ultimate goal was make Anakin Skywalker's story
the focus of the entire saga. The OT is the story of Luke Skywalker, and it always
was, prior to 1999.

Star Wars film versions and best DVD sources
Time
Maybe it's a false memory, but I swear that when I first saw ESB theatrically in 1982,
Han's "and I thought they smelled bad on the outside" line was a different take in
the version I saw (compared to all the subsequent video versions I'vd seen).
I have no idea if the theatrical showing I saw was 35mm or 70mm (was there even a 70mm re-issue of ESB?)

I haven't seen the 8mm version, however. Was that scene included?

Does anyone think it's odd that someone who's been a member of this forum for
3 months would call other members who've been here for years "trolls"?

This is my first post in this thread, so I guess that makes me a troll as well. :)

Your reasoning is childish, as is your remark. What does tenure have to do with trolling?

What does tenure have to do with trolling? Generally speaking, people who have
been contributing to this site for an extended period of time deserve more
courtesy than to be referred to as "trolls". Not to say that there aren't trolls lurking
here since the site's inception, but I guarantee you that none of those people
have posted in this thread.

In any case, it's a moot point. Since you have "closed" this thread, I expect it will
officially locked soon.

Search functions- text vs. title
Time
The ability to search within text now is great! However,
I'm wondering if there will eventually be an "advanced" search feature so that we
can choose between searching within thread titles and/or thread text?

The way it stands now, (from what I can see) is that when you search for a term, you
only have the option of searching within titles AND text, and so if you're trying to find a specific
thread topic, you get many, many more results than you would if you could narrow it
down to just thread titles.

For instance, if you're looking for a thread who's topic is "superman" and you
search the term "superman", you only have the option of getting every mention
of that term in every post in a forum, rather than just the threads that have the
term in the title.

Just curious. :)
