Info Wanted: Pittrek's "pure" '04 DVD/GOUT hybrid OT project...
Time

Having seen Adywan's SW 'revisited', it made me wonder how the various 'hybrid' projects are going. Seeing how well Ady removed the ronto and the stupid ring around the death star, etc., it made me more convinced that a near-flawless hybrid trilogy is possible.

I know there are at least a couple of such projects in the works....updates? :-)

Ebay only seems to bother enforcing such policies when someone with clout actually complains. (There are several 35mm features on there right now.) Between this and that "make your own SW crawl" site getting scuttled, I'm getting paranoid about who else is reading our posts! ;)

Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing when the "SW crawl" site shut down. It happened almost immediately after the thread was started. I often wonder if there are Lucasfilm moles here, keeping an eye on us...........**looks around**    LOL!

George Lucas's Interview with Seth MacFarlane (from the Family Guy DVD)
Time

I can only speak for myself, but Skyjedi's posts don't offend me. They often give me a chuckle and I agree with much of what he says. So, he says it more forcefully sometimes than I or most of us here would, but I understand his frustration and feel that way myself sometimes. He expresses a sentiment that many of us might be afraid to.

Besides, it would be pretty boring around here if everyone spoke in a monotone, all the time. ;-)

I believe eBay has a policy against selling 35mm features. The seller probably wasn't aware.

I'm much more interested in the 70mm.

Couldn't agree with you more Sluggo.

I always thought the sale of 35mm films was not exactly the most legal thing in the world. It wouldn't surprise me if this gets taken down.

We had a discussion about this on the Home Theater Forum recently- apparently it's not so clear-cut. Just owning a 35mm print isn't automatically illegal (which is what I always thought) but it has more to do with how the print was obtained, which is a grey-area. If it's a very recent title, chances are it was stolen- but not necessarily, and it's hard to prove in any case. :-/

With older titles (like ESB) it's even harder, because some 35mm prints were legitimately obtained.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 <strong>REVISITED</strong> ADYWAN *<em>1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION</em>

when accessing scenes via the chapter menus, the English subtitle option automatically shows up with the movie. Is there a fix I missed?

It did the same thing on my laptop. I've also noticed that the DVD9 just plays on my laptop- it won't play at all on my old iMac or on my DVD player, but the Purist DVD plays on everything. Probably due to the advancing age of my iMac and DVD player(?)

Ady,

Those who've gotten to know me in the last 2 years know that I'm no fan of the SEs. Given a choice between the SE and the Purist edition- I would far prefer watching your Purist edition.

I'm amazed at how you removed the ronto from that one scene- how DID you do that? I've watched it several times and I don't see a drop in quality- it's amazing!

I only hope that this project encourages someone, someday, to do a true purist's "purist" edition, and de-SE the entire film. You've shown that it CAN be done (and done well!)

Thanks for all your hard work.

A reversed situation would be that if Jurassic Park had been done with models, it probably would've looked lame. Since they were able to put a bunch of Dinosaurs on screen at once with CG, it actually made the movie far better.

I thought they DID use models of dinosaurs in Jurassic Park in some scenes...weren't most if not all of the close-up shots life-size animatronics?

<strong>The &quot;EditDroid&quot; Trilogy DVD Info and Feedback Thread</strong> (Released)
Time
If there is a kind soul (in NTSC land) that has the Editdroid bonus material discs, I'd be happy to send you a list of my available items for trade (star wars and non-star wars related).

I can't really download anything due to my most-of-the-time dial-up connection.

Thanks. ;-)

I have that version too, done by OCP, I believe.

Yep... the project was my brainchild/source material and OCP's editing work combined. I was very pleased with how it turned out, although I wish I'd been able to turn up a better cam source. The only one I've ever been able to find had been projected full-screen on a wide movie screen, resulting in the top and bottom of the image being cut off in a pseudo-letterbox fashion. But OCP did a great job of melding the sources together and making it look as seamless as he could.

Well, it's very enjoyable. Thanks for doing it and making it available to everyone! :-)

One question, though- why was the audio replaced in the corridor scene (when Wicket is visiting the dressing rooms of Harrison, Mark and Carrie)? There's no background music in that scene, so did they add music for the Hyperspace version, or alter the soundtrack in some other way?

Help Wanted: A question about the ROTJ trailers on the Definitive Collection LD set...
Time

I’m sure many fans have done preservations of the supplemental material from the DC boxed set, but I’m wondering if anyone has specifically done high-quality transfers of the ROTJ trailers (at least one of which hasn’t been released on DVD).

I have the DC set, but my ROTJ discs especially seem to be showing signs of rot, and I’m hesitant to buy yet another set from eBay, especially if someone has already made some nice preservations.

If somebody can give me some info I’d appreciate it.
