Mark Hamill endorses Barack Obama....
Time
lordjedi said:

"His base is the young people"

Yeah, all the people that didn't live through Carter and don't know any history.  Ask anybody that lived through Carter about Barack Obama and they'll all tell you the same thing, he's another Carter and this country doesn't need 4 more years of Carter.  There's a reason the conservative talk shows all refer to him as Carter 2.  Everything Obama wants to do, Carter already tried, with disastrous results.  You guys want to know how Carter got elected?  The people wanted change and Carter was a Democrat.  Ford was the sitting Republican President that pardoned Nixon and the people wanted something different.

4 years later, Reagan won in a landslide.

Change is fine, but Obama is the wrong kind of change.

If Obama wins, we may in fact witness history repeat itself.  4 years of shit, to be followed by a landslide win of the most conservative president we've had since Reagan.  I only hope Obama doesn't win.

What's even funnier is all these guys that were in their 20s when Carter was elected.  They probably weren't paying attention to anything that was really going on at the time or they were high on drugs.  Either way, even they don't remember the shit this country went through.  It seems that only people in their 30s and 40s at the time are the ones that really remember how bad it was.

I was very young when Carter was president, but I do remember some of his disastrous administration.  Some damage was undone (hostages), and some damage still remains (Iran, Panama Canal, Airline de-regulation....yes you can thank Jimmy Carter for our f**ked-up Airlines). But things will be much worse, I fear, if Obama is elected. Whatever taxes he raises can be cut by the next president, but if he brings in socialized health-care, that will NEVER go away. Our great-grandchildren will be stuck with that. I dread the day when I have to wait 4 months for an MRI, or the day that my Mom is told she's too old to have one.

McCain better get his ass in gear. I don't think this country can endure another four years of Jimmy Carter #2.

sean wookie, if you want to keep the gov't out of your life, then you should be a Libertarian or a Conservative. Democrats definitely don't want to keep the gov't out of your life!

I think you should be more open to preservation Ady. There is nothing wrong with having something you don't like in a film if others admire it. After all, Lucas always said that he was never happy with the original Star Wars movies, but did we complain? I don't think so, but he went ahead and changed them anyways. Now we have you, doing one heck of a good job but now it's the same thing all over again. Changing what's not broken that fans actually like.

Jeyl, if you're looking for an ESB preservation, they're working on a hi-def one here:

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/35mm--empire-strikes-back/topic/9497/

They're going to be using the hi-def ESB SE broadcast and an original 1980 35mm print to fill in most of the SE alterations.

What was that cool website with all the rare photos?

Hi There,

I'm just one guy with a full time job so it usually takes me some time to get things done on the website ;)

However like SilverWook said: if people don't tell me if something is wrong with the website I won't know about it because it works like a charm for me. And I really really love Flash (not Gordon mind you).

If you tell me what the problems are if you're having any I will do my best to fix them though it may take some time. I have just received a whole lotta more serverspace so I will be re-uploading all the video's and images in better quality. I also have a lot of magazines ready that i will be uploading to the site very soon.

By the way: the website also has a non-flash section that has loads of the images from the website already in high-res. You can check it www.starwarsarchives.com/forums or it's sisterforum www.starwarsarchives.com/moviesforum out or send me an email if you need help info@starwarsarchives.com

skyjedi2005: to help you out with the Cinefex pdf's here are the direct links for you. I hope you enjoy them.

Cheers,

Darth Neo

Saga Book Boxset - The 6 episodes in one box !!!
Time

That's why I loved the 70mm film cels from Willitts Designs- they're probably my favorite SW collectibles ever, except maybe for the original theatrical posters.

The SE and Prequel content has kept me from buying a lot of SW items in recent years.  I passed on the SW "Vault" book because of it, and quite a few other items.

Um, check out the quote from George Lucas on this page:

I'm not saying anything...;-)

I'd love to be a Laserdisk collector but its just too damn expensive. I have a hard enough time calling myself a vinyl collector.

I got my cld-d703 for $250 on eBay and you can get LDs pretty cheap there too-sometimes just a couple of bucks (the rarer titles go for more, of course). LPs are very inexpensive on eBay nowadays as well (depending on the title).

(hell, he made me like the new Mos Eisley sequence, though I still hate the extra Dewback search shots).

I agree- I'm never going to get used to those squirming cgi dewbacks. They were one of the the things that most bothered me about the SE.

I was 2, but to this day it's one of my most vivid memories. You may scoff at that but it's true. What one of my favorite memories of all time (and favorite Star Wars memories) is when my father took me to Empire. We were late, we walked in exactly when Luke was hanging upside down. It was an amazing image to me. Then we sat down and I asked my dad "can we watch it twice?" He nodded yes.

My nephew became a fan at the age of 2 when he saw ESB in 1980. I was a late-bloomer.....I became a fan when I saw SW and ESB in 1982 when I was 11. ;-)

Here's some more, I originally didn't post these because they didn't come out good, but - whatever, I'm bored. :-) I don't have any of the other 2 films ready to post because I did these for Laserman for the X0 project, so I only needed SW. (Let me know if these are too big- I tried doing thumbnails but I couldn't figure it out with this new posting function...)

I've had the pleasure of introducing the OT to many friends and family members for the first time, and as much as I appreciate the hard work that went into Ady's edit, I would never consider showing anyone anything but the '77, '80 and '83 originals for their first viewing. That just goes along with my own personal philosophy of life, though. Some people believe that one should only listen to the mono version of Sgt. Pepper for their first time...;-)

You're my hero.

Awww, thank you! :-) I'll have to make that into my signature- lol! :-P

I have some more but they came out blurry so I didn't bother posting them. They're not really scans, they're back-lit photos I took of the cels (my current scanner doesn't do film, unfortunately). Maybe I'll go ahead and post them later - just for fun.

For some reason, some of my ROTJ cels are turning reddish. :-( I guess they're on different film stock as the SW and ESB cels, as those seem to be holding up fine (so far).

It does say "partial trailer" in the description, which makes me think it's incomplete. :(

Can 35mm film fade completely to black and white?

No, it would fade to pink.

When I first looked at it, I thought maybe it was one of those "film strips" they used to show in school- but it wouldn't have all those duplicate frames.

Maybe it is for a slide projector, and the frames were supposed to be cut out and mounted? It must be an early one because of that old pointed "w".

I'm curious as to whether or not there are any other images on it or just the one we're seeing.

PaulisDead2221 is working on just such a project as we speak (see link below). :) Looks like the results will be great. :) Apparently he's using the 2004 DVD set as the main source, then the 2004 alterations are being removed and replaced with the real scenes from the 2006 unaltered Star Wars trilogy DVD set (GOUT). Correct the colors in the 2004 DVD footage to match the quite accurate Star Wars colors from the 2006 GOUT set, plus convert the GOUT footage to anamorphic to match as close as possible to the 2004 footage, pull it all together carefully and sync it with the DD 2.0 soundtrack from the GOUT set, and you should have one very nice set of the unaltered Star Wars trilogy on DVD. :) http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Star-Wars-The-Vintage-Edit/topic/8069/

Thanks for reminding me, I'm heading over there now....

Ady, I have a question for you- was there any alternate footage used in the medal ceremony scene (culled from other sources, I mean) or was it all just shifting around and re-editing the available footage in the '04 DVD?

I did add a redone shot, that was used from footage from the movie, where you see a brief glimpse of chewie stepping forward at the right hand side of the frame. But apart from that there was nothing new added. it was all down to editing

Thanks, I wasn't sure. I thought maybe there was an extra close-up shot of Luke in there- but I guess it was just clever editing.

.....and on a side note, I'm having trouble getting used to this new quoting function.....
