My all-time favorite Star Wars poster (1978 re-release):

Me and Mielr continue to find things in common.

This is hanging in a big frame in my room right now. Beautiful poster.

I also have this poster framed and hanging in my bedroom. ;-)

I had a smaller version when I was a kid, (bought it in a supermarket I think) and then years later I was working for an artists' agency in NYC and I found a bunch of the theater-sized posters in the storage room. It turns out my boss was Charles White's former agent. She said I could have one of the posters so I gladly took one.

Did we do that? I don't remember signing that petition. LOL.

You can read the full petition through the link I posted in my OP.

It is in the second to last paragraph:

"Furthermore, we understand that you have commercial concerns and that you need to consider the financial viability of any home video product that you release. Perhaps a Limited Edition run of the original films along with a Special Edition release would be in order. This approach would sate niche market demand, while still targeting the general public and no doubt breaking home video sales records. We want it to be known that there is enormous demand for the original theatrical versions of the films. Your devoted fans would more than likely purchase both an Original Trilogy release as well as any Special Edition versions."

That would have been fine, if the films had been remastered and anamorphic. Nowhere in that paragraph does it say we wanted non-anamorphic versions from 13-year old LD masters.

"BRING BACK STAR WARS" Channel 4 UK documentary coming soon...
Time

I watched the whole thing on YouTube and it was a lot more entertaining and revealing than I expected it to be. Some of Carrie's revelations were very interesting, as were Kenny's and David's especially.

I had no idea Kenny hated Tony so much, and that story Carrie told about Harrison hanging by his tie was hilarious!

It's hard to believe that Mark was really asking for $50K. I wonder if his agent even bothered to tell him about it.

if he put enough detail into to make them look like the actors, then it would loose a lot of its character.

Those would make pretty cool DVD covers.

It wouldn't require any more detail- just a different emphasis on different features. I did a lot of projects in college - very similar to this style- only using cut pieces of construction paper (nothing more) and I was still able to make the celebrities I was portraying recognizable.

I get that he obviously wasn't trying to get the characters to look like the actors, since all the people in all of his posters kind of look similar. It's just an aesthetic thing for me, I don't really care for his technique in that way.

Just my opinion- nothing more. :-)

Info: Any Interest In A Corrected 2004 DVD? (“Deliberate Creative Decisions” info)

I am not a spy or schizophrenic I just want information on getting a 2004 Star Wars: A New Hope Corrected dvd. How do I get one? Does anybuddy know?

Adywan's edit of ANH probably has the best color/sound correction. It removes some of the Special Edition alterations and adds others, however, but if you like the 2004 DVD then you'll probably be OK with Adywan's:

LINK

I don't know if anyone else has done a "corrected" 2004 ANH (aside from the one discussed in this thread).

Why was the '04 DVD set such a botched release?

Yes I am a beginner and I don't know that much about cinematography and I am not a proffesional video callabrateor.

Then you should maybe take this as an opportunity to learn from the many people on this site who are more knowledgeable than you, and stop acting as if you are an expert.

If you are really interested in learning, then start here:

I am not a idiot. Why does this site on the borads have to talk mean to people. I just don't get it.

The people on this site aren't mean, generally, but you have to stop telling us to 'shut up' and 'stop complaining' if you want to be treated with respect.

Newcomers are usually welcomed here, but not if they start off by telling everyone what to do and how to think - that is just plain rude.

Making our own 35mm preservation--my crazy proposal

But I don't understand going after a 35mm print of a prequel - weren't they shot in digital?

Yeah, that seems pointless to me. Any result you'd get from transferring a 35mm print of AOTC or ROTS is bound to be inferior to the hi-def releases.

Um, is there any chance that this project is veering dangerously off course?

Just askin'. ;-)
