My Review of the Utah Symphony star wars trilogy cd versus the LP
Time

I have the LP and CD of the Utah Symphony recording, too. But, I've had it with the LP version- at one time I had 2 LPs of this and BOTH LPs developed a loud "pop" right in the middle of "luke and leia". I figured I wasn't meant to listen to this recording on LP, so, I sold one of them to a record store and bought the CD. :-P

The one thing I don't like about the USO version of "luke and leia" is that it runs a bit too slow. I love Jabba The Hutt though, (especially since it's the only recorded version available) and I like "Darth Vader's Death" better than the LSO version.

Do you think George Lucas will correct the colors for the blu-ray release?

Can't wait for the YouTube edit. ;-)

What youtube edit is that?

The one that hasn't been created yet, AFAIK. The edit that combines the finale of ROTJ with the finale of Sgt. Pepper.

Luke gazes upon the faces of.....Robert Palmer, the Pointer Sisters, Carol Channing.....and of course Peter Frampton and The Bee Gees.

;-)

Return of The Jedi Soundtrack released in 1997 and 2004 suspected by me to be a victim of the loudness wars

Anyway this proves without a doubt that a demand to Lucasfilm for a remaster is needed, never mind the empire strikes back release being fucked from improper mixing as well.  Only Star Wars is a perfect release.  Jedi is also missing music that was on the anthology set.  Someones need to tell LucasFilm to show a little respect to John Williams and pay for a fixed release. That and the laserdsic dump of the original films makes me more than a little mad with them at the moment.  I guess its not worth doing to Greedo unless there is money to be made.

I doubt there will be any more soundtrack remasters anytime soon. At least we have the Anthology set, albeit OOP but easily duplicated or found used. For sure there will never be another release of "Lapti Nek" or Ewok Celebration. I'm grateful they were released on CD before Lucas went bonkers. Too bad DVDs weren't around 16 years ago too.

They were in a fire, but there wasn't enough time for their bodies to decompose. I wonder how they got that way then? Luke must have come up at most a few hours later. Maybe their bodies were eaten by decomposers, but it's the desert-there aren't any! Or the stormtroopers could have done the blaster torture thing where they essentially shoot off your flesh using a low power setting.  Ouch!

They were VAPORIZED! ;-)

So lets say that the GOUT is released in perfect anamorphic, unmolested, non-raping your childhoods, blu-ray perfection, OK? Its sitting on your shelf and you like to curl up with it when you go to bed each night. OK? You are happy.

Yup. Happy.

Then George releases a new 6 disk set that does have changes to the OT. Are there any that you would like? These can be both already existing and theoritical. Thoughts?

Don't care. Wouldn't buy it.

The Problem with George Lucas

Gaffer Tape said: Oh, yeah, I remember that.  All those idiots saying completely ridiculous things like, "Anamorphic didn't exist back then, so these DVDs shouldn't be anamorphic!" and "Movies didn't look good 30 years ago, so this is the way it looked back then!"  Man, what tools!

That's what happens when parents don't put a limit on their kids' computer time ;-)

Gaffer Tape said:In my eyes, it doesn't matter if it's an improvement or not. A movie is what it is, and once it's finished, it should be left alone.

Or at the very least, give the fans both versions in good quality, so we can decide for ourselves which version is better.

Poll: ROTJ Celebration Themes - 1983 or 1997?

Hey you're right! I compared them on youtube. I guess the technology didn't exist to cut those shots into smaller fragments in 1983, even though that was the original vision.

LOL! Yeah, I just watched them too.

That's such a sweet (albeit brief) moment between Luke and Leia  - what reason could there have possibly been to butcher it?!
