Is anyone kind enough to seed the Isomix trilogy over myspleen? the torrents have been dead for more than a week. Or give me directions to an alternative torrent site? Thank you
And what is the case about the -encrypted- "Sing while you may Suckas" line that is in every Rikter's nfo? Does it have a special meaning I don't understand, or is Rikter calling us suckers?
Is there anywhere available for d'load the RowMan 6 disc version of the TR47 set? give me a hint please... Oh! and another thing: When is the editdroid ROTJ gonna be up in myspleen?
1) I will be more specific: I mean for any kind of disc, blank or written, +R -R or DVD-rom, DL or not. The fact is that it's disc loading time is as any other drive's. But for some reason, it has a 5 second delay of starting to spin up the disc upon insert. As a consequence, while in my pioneer 106 slot-in DVD-rom the disc is fully loaded after ~10 seconds after insert, using NEC 3520 will take ~15 seconds. That's all. Not a big deal, actually. Every firmware I tried didn't seem to fix that though.
2) Your choise to use another drive as a ripper is wise, but I thought I should let all the factors be known to you anyway...
To further strengthen my case, before posting my comments, I asked one friend of mine who has the same drive, and his review was no different from mine. Overall, he and I are very satisfied with our purchase, and would definatelly recomend it.
Thanx 4 the covers. But why do you make the disc labels with a big hole? I quess that it wouldn't cost too much to cut a smaller hole in the center, for people that print in covers with tiny center holes. After all, if someone would want a bigger hole, it is no big deal to cut the middle hole for himself, when the other way around is apparently not possible...
Yes, it is. To make it more easy for you, if you download and flash the firmware I have a link to in my previus post (which BTW comes as an auto flashing .exe, not a .bin), you will have a region free drive, no questions asked (that's what RPC1 means). But the region lock you are experiencing could be a software problem. Maybe I am explaining the obvious, but I don't know how experienced you are and I'm trying to be as helpfull as I can. So I'll quote Mad Dog, in case you don't know the following piece of information: "An RPC1 firmware defeats the internal counters within the drive and removes region enforcement. This only is HALF of the equation. You need to use DVD Genie or similar software to control your player software. http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=239"
I have bought the NEC 3520 one month ago, and I was pretty amazed by it! I'll tell you though it's disadvatages first, and then go through the advantages: the disadvanteges are two and only two: 1) It takes a long time to recognize an inserted disc. 2) It is really slow for DVD ripping (even with riplock disabled).
On the other hand, 1)it has very good burning quality (never wrote a disc that wasn't readable -or even hard to read- by any other drives/decks I've tested) 2) It burns really damn fast with practically no quality loss 3) it is the most firmware supported DVDRW device
Personally, I tried Liggy's IU5 and IU6 firmware, but ended up using Mad Dog's modified firmware (much cooler, with riplock disable option, RPC1 and manual bitsetting) Overall, i think it is the best you can buy, and definatelly worth it's money.
First of all, good job Dr_Gonzo. Thank you for your work. BTW, the easter eggs are very cool. If it weren't for the easter eggs, I wouldn't know which version I have d'loaded. So, to my questions: 1)While searching for the easter eggs, I found out that somewhere near the top right corner of the main menu, there is a button (does not a highlight option, but it's there). When I press it, my player closes. Is that made intentionally? What is it? 2) Why does the ROTJ disk not have the THX logo on the start as the other two do? And why does this disc have time-seek restricted? 3) Can someone PM me for the wherabouts of the supplamental matterial disc?
As for the layer break: Most DVD burning progs search automatically for the most suitable place to set tha layer break. In adition, DVD decrypter let's you manualy specify the layer break point. Sorry if the question has been answered before and I am just repeating stuff, I just was too tired to search the tread for previus answers.
WOW! You really answered fast! I don't see any point where we might disagree. But it really made me sad seeing all these people desperately wanting something they won't get
Well mike, I don't want to waste any more space praising your efforts because I think that after 240 posts to your thread it is clear to everyone that the work you are doing is unique. So well done for starters. But the puprose of my post is not to state what has already been said about the quality of your work. I just wanted to share some thoughts I had while reading all the previous posts. I think that in this whole thread, there is something hidden between the lines, and that is everyone's (mine too) remote hope to someday acquire this copy of SW, and their frustration about your clear statement that is is "for your eyes only". I can see no other reason for the tremendous interest people have shown. I know you know that, and I believe that you feed on that. I don't say that to accuse you, it is perfectly normal and human to feel good for yourself when people want something from you, you are not willing to give. It gives you a sence of power that you like to hold on to. My objection is to the extend this has been happening. Secondly, it makes my wonder: How can a creator of something, feel that his creation has been completed, when it is sealed in a safe, not fullfilling it's puprose (to entertain in your case)? Maybe it is just me, but every single thing I have ever created (my creations are not relevant to this forum, they are of another nature) gave me this feeling of completion only when it was in the open. But then I realised that this thread suites you perfectly: You gain the approval of your audience, without actually having to share your work. My opinion is that this is not the right way for a creator, artist or collector to satisfy his passion. By my post, I don't want to diminish the help you have given to people by "enlightening" them on matters of techinque and matterials, I just wanted to light another aspect of this thred. I could of course be 100% wrong. I look foreward to reading your opinion.
You put it so plain and simply, that no one could argue with you. Of course you are right on that, I could not disagree, but that was not my point. Yes, the majority of the people here want the OT, but there are some people (including me) who besides that, would like to have all the other versions, so they could make the comparison themselves. And since I live in a country where LD's were never sold (I might be the only Greek guy knowing the very existence of such medium), and where there is no availability of ANY version on ANY medium except the 2004 DVD's, I thought it would be nice to find any bootleg SE source in this forum. Of course on the other hand, I respect the webmaster's concearn about the legal and copyright issues threatening this forum, so I will not present any more arguements.
I've just become a Padawan Learner in this forum to state my query about something "strange" I read in this thread. You find the SE resembling to much to the 2004 DVD release, but you also find the OT much different from the SE. That sounds strange, because in the 2004 release, nearly all changes appllied in SE are furthermore altered. Greedo shoots at the same time with Han now, Han doesen't step on Jabba's tail, Luke does not scream while falling etc... Furthermore, the Emperor is a different person now (in SE and OT he is the same), and the ghost of Anakin takes the form of young Hayden. These two last alterations would make all the difference in the word to me, as both characters are key factors to the whole plot, even if they appear rarely (imagine the Godfather with a "revised" Vito Corleone instead of Marlon Brando). Actually, in some points, the 2004 release has a tendency to "return" to the original script, as changes made in SE that were clearly mistaken were cleared out. EG the scene of Luke screaming while falling (OT: Does not scream SE: screams 2004: Does not scream). After all being said, I actually believe that the SE should be handled like the OT is, that meaning that either refering to both version backups should be permited or it should be prohibited for both.
