"Ridiculous. The OT DVD set is a fine set. It looks and sound great. It sucks in your opinion because it's not the OOT."

And for some reason, we're supposed to believe that the opinion of an acknowledged troll about the DVDs isn't equally ridiculous or unbiased?

"News"

Oh, so now the research finally comes. Interesting change in tactics. One whole awards show. Big whoop.

Don't confuse the selling power of the Star Wars brand with its quality, much less a trade association award. Many, many DVD websites talked about the colors and audio of the films. The detail is great, but there are still many, many problems with them, so much so that LFL has to make excuses about them.

"Adjust the Tint on your TV and get over it. "

Oh, so now you are making excuses for them too. Spin?

My first experience with XM radio
Time
While this may not seem to be on topic in this thread, I just wanted to share my new XM experience.

We've put a new Sony radio with an attached XM controller in our motorhome for an upcoming trip to Kentucky. While flipping through the channels, I gave the Soundtrack channel a listen.

They were playing my favorite SW soundtrack: Empire Strikes Back. I think I made a good purchase.

"I do think it's silly to keep complaining that the OOT you fought so hard for isn't up to your technical standards... "beggers can't be choosers""

How silly is it to keep bringing up this tired argument? I'll even quote you: "but, for the one billionth time." And your .sig, over and over: "Its not your movie, never was, never will be."

Get a new argument, or get a life. Simple as that. If you had read my previous post, this would fall under the "substance" statement. Your feeble attempts are old and tired, and certainly not "fun".

"and I've been banned for a year at TFN.... your buddy Strillo saw to that."

Again, if you knew me, you'd know I've never liked strilo. He's one of the first people I got into an argument with when I first joined TF.n many moons ago, and I constantly called on his behavior in the Basher's Sanctuary.

Having knowledge of the people you argue against just ain't your thing, is it?

As soon as you stop trolling, and make a decent attempt to provide something rational and reasonable and maybe, just maybe, something of substance to these boards.

If that's too much to handle, then what's the point, really? How much longer are you going to continue embarrasing yourself on a board of people whom you obviously hold a great deal of contempt for?

See, more brainless retorts. You have so much hatred for the people on these boards, that you lump us all together to make some ridiculious point. I've never said this - AT ALL. It would be nice if you could read, because then you could search through my posts to prove this.

Not to mention the fact that your retort doesn't address this or any other issue brought up in this thread. Really running out of steam there, aren't you?

It's sad, really, but if you think your tired attempts will make any kind of a difference on this board......well......

"One trilogy is over 20 years old.... one isn't. Check back in a couple decades and see how many LOTR releases there are. "

I addressed this. Obviously, reading isn't your thing, otherwise there would be better research in your inital argument, much less this brainless retort.

"the OT, looks great.... it's just not the OOT. Which is gone. Sorry if it's bonus material... but, for the one billionth time. It's not your flick, so this is what you get."

This not only proves you are trolling, but because you have nothing else of value to counter with, you've just negated your whole argument and supported mine. Such is not an unexpected response to overwhelming evidence.

"Keep on spinnin', folks."

Says the guy who keeps missing the obvious in his desperate attempts to point out the "obvious". LOL!

"In the end, atleast LOTR fans can any version in great quality on DVD, O-OT fans have to watch them as bonus material."

That's pretty much it in a nutshell.

"When Lucas does this it's a slap in the fan's face... when Jackson does it..... it's spin time."

You know, I'm not a huge Jackson fan, nor a huge LOTR fan, but even I can see the difference between these two scenarios. Obviously, you have bigger issues to deal with, and this is the best you can do, but they just aren't the same. Sorry.

"if GL was about to release Star Wars for the 3rd time, people would be pissed, IMO."

Because this isn't simply a rerelease. The details are right in front of you, both for the new LOTR as well as the multitude of SW releases listed at DavisDVD.com. Either you don't want to educate yourself on the difference, because you know full well that it hurts your argument, or you just want to troll - which is more likely, since this kind of thing has been discussed ad neauseum.

The biggest difference of all that you keep glossing over: every version of LOTR, be it theatrical or the director's "vision", is presented in the best possible form that DVD can provide. Lucas simply cannot make this claim.

If you want to bash PJ, why not head off to TF.n. They'd welcome you into their ranks with open arms. I can tell you now, you aren't going to recieve the kind of attention you so desperately crave on this site.

See, now I KNOW you are an ignorant moron relying on half an argument. Here's Lucas' VHS and LD line-up.

http://www.davisdvd.com/images/starwars/sw_ld5.jpg
http://www.davisdvd.com/images/starwars/sw_executor.jpg

That's an awful lot of releases for a half-finished film, wouldn't you say?

And then there are the Special Editions and DVD editions.

As you can see, PJ doesn't hold a candle to GL in terms of releasing the films, but GL doesn't hold a candle to PJ improving each subsequent rerelease. Since you obviously don't or refuse to get it, PJ consistently tries to up the ante in terms of quality and quantity in each release, giving all fans the most of what they want.

Lucas did this once on LD (The Definitive Collection), and barely on the 2004 DVDs - the rerelease of which did not include the measly bonus disc, yet didn't cost much less. Go figure . (I love how you've conveniently forgotten about that rerelease, BTW ) Let's also keep in mind that Lucas has only recently released the OT in any form on DVD. Considering his track record, what the fuck makes you think he won't repeat himself with multiple meaningless redudant or lackluster releases?

Lucas should take some notes on how PJ is releasing his films. GL just wants to give people what he wants them to see (The "Faces" set included, as a bonus, an interview of him. WooHoo! *snore*) He's stated over and over that the "original version" wouldn't be rereleased and/or didn't exist, and when he finally relents, it's of inferior quality.

Yeah, soooooooooooo many similarities. *roll eyes* If there's any "spin" going on, it's in your desparate need to pretend these scenarios share as much in common as you wish they did.

"And probably because Jackson hasn't repalced Frodo with a walking talking CGI banana in this release"

LOL!

Questions About A Project
Time
"3. How do you create multiple audio tracks for a DVD (again, like the EditDroid set's isolated score)? Can the audio tracks be for select scenes only? i.e. - Is there seamless branching for audio, as well, that would not require two complete audio tracks but one base track with minor branches between the two? "

DVD-Lab can do this. It won't be seamless, but say that Chapter 7 was a segment with a secondary soundtrack. You would create a second video segment with its own soundtrack, and tell DVDLab to play the second chapter seven when designated. One caveat: The audio filetype must be the same. If the first audio track for the movie is PCM, then the first audio track for the extra scenes must be PCM as well.

When I made my prototype SW DVD, the second soundtrack was the commentaries, which altogether comprise about 20-30 minutes of audio. I had chapter selections that would play the video with the second sountrack, and then return to the commentary menu. You can create a second soundtrack that is silent except for sound at the designated spots, and force an audio track switch for those segments. This would probably be a lot more "seamless".

How will you die
Time
Call me silly, but I though Zion was over 24...

At age 44, you will die from wounds delivered by a blender after trying to make your sixteenth magarita of the day. (And it's only 3:00pm, shame on you!) At age 86, you will spontaneously combust while dining out with your family.

How come you got the two coolest ones?

"Sounds survivable!"

Lol

"And you must admit a meteor is a great way to die."

I'd put it at third place.
