It would be fantastic if we could get this edit to win “Favorite Edit of the Month” over at fanedit.org.

That was a celebrated film, which makes a huge difference. The worse a film is received, or the more BTS drama, the less likely deleted scenes are to be released.
Also, Star Wars, as a franchise, is able to repurpose and retcon stories across all media very easily. It’s far more likely that deleted plot elements crop up in other media.
It’s less work, more money, and less critical blowback for them to release the OT Theatrical Cuts, or to not release the deleted scenes. The amount of fans that would love the deleted scenes is just too small a number.
I suppose so, though the Prequels got a lot of really good deleted scenes released on DVD and Blu-ray, despite how much hardcore fans tore them apart too. You are correct about the reception and behind the scenes stories affecting that happening, but I still think it could happen, with it being Star Wars and all. More deleted scenes were released for the Prequels on the Blu-ray release than the original DVD releases, but it could be due to Lucasfilm being run by George Lucas at the time, and not Kathleen Kennedy. As for the dreaded OOT Trilogy release, I still think they’re contractionally obligated by George to not release them.
It still would be spending money to release things that people “already have”.
People already purchased or subscribed to Disney+. That’s where the focus is. There’s no upside to releasing deleted scenes for a maligned film, it’s either “nothing can save this film” or “the film is worse for not including these scenes!”.
There isn’t a big petition or movement like with Justice League, and even then: it would be far more lucrative to release the 4K OT Theatrical Cuts, which also has more people begging for than these deleted scenes.
I don’t really know. Avengers: Endgame had some deleted scenes released in the Extras section on Disney+ that were not featured on its Blu-ray release. Anything is possible.
Anything is possible. Rogue One and The Rise of Skywalker could see deleted scenes released, it just all depends on what Lucasfilm decides to do for the foreseeable future. It could happen once the criticism over the Sequel Trilogy has died down, so let’s hope The Mandalorian can get those folks to calm down. Fingers crossed for the deleted scenes, still.
I made a whole video on unreleased deleted scenes for all the films.
Actually, I’m going to look up the film’s screenplay to see if any deleted scenes are featured in them. I’d love to know how they played out too when they shot them.
EDIT: I’ve looked, and I can’t find it online. One day, maybe. At least the comic and novelization detailed some of those scenes.
How come you don’t intend on adding the commentary track to the Rey Nobody version, Hal?
I was told that if you star the item, drag and drop it into a folder you create, and download the folder, it will work.
not having success with this so for
This video will help you out, as it did for me.
Cool! That commentary… ain’t, ain’t my best. Lol
It’s okay, once we get everything done, along with the Rey Nobody edition, we’ll all be incredibly satisfied. I also saw you listed me in the Special Thanks section. I feel really honored and proud to be credited as helping one of the best Star Wars fan editors along with Mike J. Nichols, Adywan, Harmy, etc.
Just got the 1080p version from Google Drive! I cannot wait to listen to your commentary track, Hal!

I don’t get it, the copy feature still isn’t working for me.
EDIT: I see what the issue is now.
The biggest problem that I’m having is making a copy. It says that the process is running, but it doesn’t seem like anything’s happening, as it used to be an instant process in the past.
AFAIK the only things we’re waiting on are jonh’s haircut for Luke and kewlfish’s crackly lightsaber (hopefully), but v1 is releasing very soon without them.
Awesome! I really can’t wait to listen to that commentary track, and I especially can’t wait until it’s on fanedit.org. Your edit of Return of the Jedi has yet to make its way up there too, Hal.
Wait, I’ve been busy working on one of my own edits, is the edit finally done?
Really, the only things that need to be done to perfect the 2020 Blu-ray discs is to re-color them to match the original colors, ever so slightly (Adywan did some great work on Return of the Jedi), and add some film grain to the video. Also, going back to these once Adywan’s HD version of A New Hope and Return of the Jedi are out and do some nice changes/additions would be nice too, whenever those come out.
Its kind of a mixture/hybrid of blue and indigo.
What about DominicCobb? Also, I love the idea of recoloring the Force lighting to its original purple color.
Here’s something really interesting that I found out about the SyFy extended version of Order of the Phoenix. The deleted scene of the Slytherins bullying a first year uses an extended piece of The Room of Requirement piece of music that does not show up on any soundtrack release.
I’m doing an edit, using a deleted scene that features Stereo sound. It comes with music that I want to replace, but I don’t know exactly how to remove it and keep the dialogue, ambience and sound effects. A few other edits I’ve seen have been able to do this with Stereo channel audio flawlessly, and I want to find out how to do it myself.
If anyone can help out, it would really mean a lot.
Funny enough, I’m listening to your past commentaries while you’ve recorded this one.
You mean in the end credits? No, because I hadn’t for 7 or 8, for consistency’s sake. But absolutely yes in the documentation.
Okay, although I still find it a bit odd you didn’t add credits like you did with the Prequels, as a lot of hard work and VFX were put into your Sequel edits, more so than for the Prequels.
Will you be crediting yourself and others this time around?
Hopefully this thread will continue.
Here’s an example of re-scoring the scene. It can be done. What I did here was trim off the beginning of the wide shot and trimmed the beginning and end of the next shot of Rey holding the saber.

What I mean is that the audio needed for that moment will not conform to the existing video track, requiring me to essentially manually replace each clip in the TFA timeline and do more than it’s worth. And it would all be to do something to actively detract from that moment.
Okay. I’ll still give it a shot.
