The Now-Released Spider-Man 3 Thread
Time
I don't understand how someone can say that the second one was good. It was 2 hours of Peter being a confused wimp, and Mary Jane trying to figure out who she loved. The raindrops scene was beyond stupidity, and Mary Jane running from the church to Peter's apartment was beyond being cheesy. I think the third is better. Yes, it was horribly edited, but if you have read the book you relize this can be fixed with a longer running time. There was a scene of Sandman breaking into a doctors office to ask him to save Penny. The doctor says the research is more than Flint can afford. But Flint gives the money from his bank robbery to the doctor. The doctor refuses and Flint slams him into a window. The doctor then agrees to help Flint but says that he needs more money. This scene explains Sandmans motives better. This scene was shot, but for some reason didn't make it into the final cut. Also, in the book during the fight at the construction site, right as Sandman is about to kill Spiderman the doctor and Marko's family show up. The doctor says that he tried but could not find a cure for Penny. Penny asks Marko why he is doing this and it makes Marko feel guilty. He gives up and Spiderman tells him to go be with his family. That is a better way for Sandman to exit the story, and gives better closure to the story of Penny. In the movie Penny is in one scene and you never find out whether she is cured or not. But besides these problems I still think the film was the best one of the three.

EDIT: spoke too soon. there's one person connected to me now @ 73KB/s. I take it this is you Marvolo. Hopefully you're getting better speeds now

Yeah. Thats the key difference between Star Wars and the PT. Analyse it for whatever factors you may find let to this type of stylistic difference but whatever they are, one of the films is touching and sweeping and the other is plagued with cheese and awkwardness that prevents it from truely being successful.

My only problem with the scene of Darth Vader screaming NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! is that is not something Vader would do. Now had that been Anikan and not Vader standing there screaming NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I would have had less of a problem with it. But when you add the suit, the mechanical voice, and the awkward limp you get Frankenstien and that is not something I imagined. Now take this for instance,

Back on Coruscant before Anikan leaves for Mustafar he goes to Padme's apartment like in the film, but instead of just telling her of the Jedi's betrayel he also confesses about his slaughtering of the Order and the younglings.

Anikan reaches out to her with his arm looking for acceptance and forgiveness for what he has done. He expects her to say " You did what was right by the law, and punishment for betrayel is death" but instead she recoils in disgust, exclaiming " What have you done! You are a Jedi, an upholder of peace not an executioner!"

Anikan then pleads: " Don't look at me like I am a monster. I am still your Ani."

Padem: "YOU ARE A MONSTER!!" "The man I married would never have done what you have done this night!" "Ani is dead to me and my husband along with him?

Suddenly something changes in Anikan's eyes. They glaze over and a fire errupts in them. A fire from the pits of hell itself. Anikan is no longer looking at Padme instead there is only rage and hate. Uncontrolible hatred. Padme attempts to turn and run and call for security. Anikan jumps her and slams her to the ground. He says in an unnaturally calm and loving voice " I am your little Ani don't you love me?"

Padme attempts to scream for security, but is unnable to speak for it seems an invisble hand has clasped itself about her throat. All she can muster is a faint sigh as air escapes her mouth. As Padme slips to unconciousness she mouths silently " come back to me". And all in her mind fades to blackness.

Realizing what he has just done, all the rage he was venting on Padme turns on himself and he lets out a scream to shake the universe itself. Glass explodes, computer panels burst to flame, tile cracks, the very foundation of the building shakes, the floors and walls begin to fly apart and all the wreckage begins to whirl about him and Padme creating a show of force power never witnessed by either Jedi or Sith. As quickly as it begins it stops. All the wreckage falls about himself and Padme.

He slumps and leans over Padme and kisses her on the lips. " I am sorry, I have failed you."

Standing, he turns and heads for his starfighter. With one last look he turns looks at the lifeless body of his beloved wife and a stray tear escapes his eye. " Goodbye, my love."

Then after all this Obi-wan finds Padme's body, and fleas Coruscant on the Tantive IV with Bail Organa and Yoda. While on the Tantive IV, the babies are removed from Padme by C-Section, and she would regain consciousness long enough for Obi-Wan to ask one question
"Where has Anikan gone? I must stop him."

She replies weakly "The Mustafar system." "Please Obi-Wan, save him." And then she would die.

I can expand this if anyone wants me to, becasue I have a lot more but didn't want to make this post too long.

I wish I would have had that shot a few years ago when I started it. I had to make the text off of the Richard Edlund pic. Serious headache.

Something interesting I found on StarWars.com's new analysis feature of Star Wars, is that originally the Star Wars title card and the actual crawl were together like the Episode title and the crawl are now. And that the Star Wars tittle came up from the bottom of the screen just like the rest of the crawl. That would have looked different.

How wierd would this have been? I got this off of StarWars.com Visual Guide -- Chapter 1: Opening Logos

"At one point, George Lucas briefly toyed with the notion that the story of Star Wars should be introduced by a family of Wookiees. In this version the film opens with a father Wookiee telling his son about "Uncle Chewbacca." The father then produced a leather-bound journal revealed to be Chewbacca's diary. Evidently Chewbacca left the book for his nephew shortly before his death. After the father Wookiee reads the journal to his son, the film begins and the audience is transported to the opening scene we're now familiar with."

That would have been different.

ROTJ: Fan-O-Matic! 3 new clips!
Time
The original and your edit are not much different, but still I am glad that you are posting your ideas. You can never have to many. I have a lot of ideas about ROTJ also, and will visit this thread often. Keep up the good work!

P.S. If you don't mind, I would suggest uploading your clips to megaupload. It is free , and you can upload any size file. I suggest this ,because a lot of people have trouble with rapidshare.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time
Adywan, I watched the test clip and the sound mix is sounding pretty good. I didn't notice any glitchs or anything like that. And the immersive surround sound effect you were hoping to achieve, well let me say that you have achieved it and to great success. It feels like the sound is all around me rather than muddled like the original. I also love how you have amped up the star visibility in our edit. It really is something to be able to see them so clearly once again. Keep up the good work!

Need help finding the title cards for the Lord of the Rings films.
Time
This is about the title cards for the LOTR Book Cuts by Lord Phillock. Could someone hook me up with the title cards for the two towers and the return of the king? I have provided an image from Lord Phillock's Edits to show you what I am looking for.

I would be so appreciative if someone could help me out. I have looked everywhere and still can't find it. Thanks in advance.

Don't worry AWE is nothing like the fiasco that was The Matrix Revolutions.

And about which film I consider to be worse ROTS or The Matrix Revolutions, both. They were both letdowns.

Whoa! Having not a clue what POTC, DMA, AWE are I didn't get much out of that last post. But I did get that AWE is more like POTC than DMC was.

POTC-Pirates of the Caribbean

DMC-Dead Man's Chest (the sequel to The Curse of the Black Pearl)

AWE- At World's End (the sequel to Dead Man's Chest)

I will also defend ROTJ by saying that the ewoks have never really bothered me. I think they are cool. However, I do have a problem with the idea that their wooden arrows can pierce the stormtrooper's armor. Other than that, the ewoks are fine by me. But the one thing that stops me from enjoying ROTJ more than I do is not the ewoks, it is Jabba's palace. Something about those scenes in Jabba's palace have always bothered me. They just seem like something from another story and don't connect with the rest of the overall story very well.

Some reasons why I enjoy TPM over ROTS. It has the least amount of CGI, it was filmed on regular film stock, and as stated above doesn't reach farther than it should. Yeah, I hated Anikan as a 9 year old, and Jar-Jar, but I can at least watch some of TPM. ROTS is another story. Anikan's turn was a complete failure, Mace vs. Sidious is laughably one of the worst choreographed duels in the entire saga, Palpatines exressions during the duel are so stupid, the writting is unemotionally stimulating, the duel between Anikan and Obi-Wan is a CGI fest and nothing more, Grievous is a glorified chihuahua and a waste of screen time, that lizard thing Obi-Wan rides on to chase Grievous makes one squawk to many. The list could be even bigger, but you get the idea.

Lord Phillock, I am like you. TPM is the first film I can remember watching in theatres, because before TPM came out I didn't go to the theatre any (mostly because of how young I was). The first time I saw Star Wars was also in 1995. TPM was also the first film I saw more than once at the theatre. That was my favorite Star Wars film at the time, but my how things have changed. So, yes I do get nostalgiac when I watch TPM and a little when I watch AOTC, because I saw that film at the midnight premiere which was awsome.
