They should have not directly linked to the fanedits.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. GUILTY!
This guys intentions are very clear and I'll be surprised if he isn't prosecuted. You may think your defense will work, but a judge isn't going to think so (I don't think even you think it'll work, sounds more like a devil's advocate argument). This is definitely a copyright violation.

As long as other things are in the image you can't be charged, I looked it up. A couple years back they tried to copyright any photos taken of the eifel tower. They were trying to make it so any photos taken of the eifel tower could not be posted publicly because the eifel tower image is trademarked. The courts said they couldn't stop people publishing their photos as long as other objects were in the image or background. This is because the person could say he was taking a picture of something else and the eifel tower was in the shot but he took the shot anyway. The person who took these pictures can argue the same logic, such as, " I was taking a picture of my hand at different angles when turning pages to visually determin the stress on joints and how the muscles in my hand would flex, since this was the book I had at the time it became part of the experiment." Also, the person who originally posted all the images didn't title them in any specific way so his intentions may not have been the reproduction of the book. If a lawyer will argue a case of someone suing McDonalds for making them fat and win, then this kid could win his case. Also, Scolastic is the one who said libraries could open the boxes early, that is their own stupid mistake.

He did put the pictures up on Facebook. Someone else grabbed the pictures and uploaded them elsewhere, and one person went as far as to type the entire book out. Also, I know that that whole joint experiment defense probably wouldn't work, but considering that someone can sue McDonalds for making them fat and a number of other stupid things that happen in America's court system I wouldn't be surprised if a defense like that passed as acceptable.

Low quality images has nothing to do with anything, it is still reproduced. Where did you come up with this technicallity between scanning and photographing? They are essentially the same thing. This is like saying that filming a movie in the cinema is not piracy and is perfectly legal because it is merely a low quality taping of a film and not an actual reproduction of the DVD or a screener.

And Bloomsbury or Scholastic can't really charge the person who leaked it with copyright infringement like they want to, because the person who leaked it only posted pictures of the book on the internet. You have to scan the book, or type the book out and make it available as an ebook for it to be copyright infringement. It is not illegal to take low quality images of abook and post them on the internet. Since he did not reproduce the book in any form he can not be charged. And if he did not sign the contract saying he would not leak the book then he can not be charged. If he has a good enough lawyer he should avoid jail time.
All the money wasted on this book's security could have been been sent to Darfur or sent to the family of the Madison kid ( I think that is her name) who went missing. Maybe now the publishers will learn, as long as the internet is around there will be leaks of everthing.

All you would have to do to achieve this to cut the scene of Yoda meditating, and Bail informing him Obi-Wan is arriving.
And later on the Tantive 4, after Bail stands up in the conference room on the Tantive 4 and Yoda says "and now into hiding we must go" cut to Bail walking up to Antilles to give the droids to him.
There is no need to explain anything about the force ghost or mention Qui-gon. It dumbs down the Force for the audience, and makes it less mysterious. Let the audience draw their own conclusion as to why Jedi can come back as force ghosts.
This would remove the need to insert and mix dialogue from other films that does not sound good and stands out very badly.

Some nitpicks:
1.Cut the part where Anikan ignites his saber and attempts to run and jump from the structure. Make it so that he swings back on to the structure and before he can even attempt to run and jump off it he plummets down the lava fall.
2. Not really a nit pick but when you pull away from the falls after Anikan has fallen down the falls you can see the structure still floating down the lava river in the background. This can be removed with Adobe After Effects.
3. After you have the shot that pulls away from the lava fall I would cut Obi-Wan's reaction shots and go straight to volcanoe erupting shot and then to Obi-Wan approaching the ship. The reason for this is because you already have two reaction shots from Obi-Wan before you have the pull out shot and don't really need two more. If you don't want to remove these shots at least get rid of or replace the last shot of Obi-Wan where he is holding his ignited lightsaber right before the volcanoe shot. It just doesn't flow naturally with the other reaction shots, because they are close up facial shots and that is a full body shot. I understand the emotion that is supposed to be portrayed by Obi-Wan's body stance, but it feels awkward among the other reaction shots.
And about not showing Anikan surviving his fall over the lava fall, I like this and it would keep Anikan's fate unkown.

Also, about how to fix the jump that will occur in the music if you make the duel end by Anikan going over the lava fall, have everything go silent as the arm structure tips over the edge of the lava fall, and all you hear is Anikan's screams as the arm structure falls down the lava fall and when the arm structure hits the bottom of the lava fall just have the screams fade also. Then you could cut to something else. I will try to do a rough edit of this.

Same here! If I have a daughter she will be named Sophie. I hope that my future wife will not fight me over this, because I have had the idea of naming my future daughter Sophie for a while now. I really, really love that name and would love to have a child named that. It is my favorite name for a girl. I didn't know it meant wisdom that is so cool.
