Which editing program do you use and why?

On the Mac FCP and shake and combustion.
I've never liked the workflow in Vegas, but that is really a personal choice thing.

If you want something F-A-S-T, install ubuntu linux as a dual boot and run cinelerra (it is free) and you may never look at premiere or vegas again.

Could you explain to me how you do a dual boit. I have never messed with linux. Do I have to have 2 hard drives or can I do a dual boot on one hard drive?

That's why I suggested to Adywan he try tot do both ending if it isn't too much trouble. That way we could get the one he likes best in the movie, and the other in a deleted scene.

There is of of course a third option that might be superior to both, however. Why not have the 2004 ESB dialogue take place IN Vader's cockpit. Assuming an Emperor hologram could be inserted in the shots (there are plenty to choose from, and his face could be shrouded in shadow to avoid lip-sync problems), I really think that would be the best way to go. It gets Palpatine in the film, it doesn't use an ESB scene, it incorporates the "Vader returns to Coruscant" idea, and it relys important dialogue that would be otherwise out of place. It would also negate the need to film a fan in an Imperial uniform, which might prove to be a difficult thing to lock down.

So what do you say, Adywan?

I vote for the third option. It would be easy to shroud the emperor's face, Magnoliafan did it in his edits of Episode 1 and 2. Also, I don't really like the idea of filming someone dressed as an imperial, because this will be an important scene and needs to be serious. The moment someone realizes that it is just a fan dressed as an imperial, it will pull the viewer out of the moment.

Adywan, I found something that I have never noticed before but definitely needs to be fixed. It is after Han, Luke, and Leia arrive on Yavan, and Leia meets the commander and says "There is no time for sorrows, Commander. We have to process the information on this artoo unit."
After this little exchange it switched to R2 waddling around. His projector is on the wrong side of his dome. It looks like Lucas had the shot reversed during editing of the film. Anyways, here is a image of what I am talking about:

This happens at: 1 hr. 38 min. 51 sec. to about 1 hr. 38 min. 57 sec. on the NTSC 2004 DVD

Well hopefully i shall have my EpIV DVD all wrapped up in a couple of months and then i'm not going to begin work on EPV until after the Definitive Box set comes out later this year (if it even exists) just in case there is any new footage included. So, count me in. I'll help as much as i can. but please don't expect miracles, after all my EP IV is the first time i have ever attempted to do any effects and i have no knowledge of 3D effects programs.

Thank you sooooooooo much adywan! This is great news!

What about we throw visual clues into the film. Instead of coming directly out saying and this is Maul at the beginning, have visual hints throughout the film and then when you get to the true revolation of Maul=Grievous you will look back and see all the hints. This would give the viewer a chance to figure out who Grievous is for themselves and it would make the viewer feel involved in a way.

The GOUT is an acronym for "George's Original Unaltered Trilogy", because George said the 2006 release was the Original Unaltered Trilogy but it was just a laserdisc transfer and not made directly from the actual film print. So technically it is George's version of the Original Unaltered Trilogy.

Taking one of Obi-Wan's two "It can't be"s from the security hologram scene would sell it, IMO. A voice actor would be required to dub over Grievous and whatever lines Maul might have in our Episode I. Grievous' Episode III dialogue would make or break this connection, so it needs to be top-notch. Also having the Nemoidians refer to Maul as Grievous in Episode I. I think we all like the name Maul better, but there are just too many characters who refer to Grievous by name in III to get around it.

As for the duel, I actually have a rough edit of an uninterrupted Anakin/Obi-Wan duel I'll upload this weekend. I think it works rather well, but in the context of the film it would probably be best to cut away at least once. Who knows, that's a long way off. Anyway, hopefully it'll be up by Saturday.

I agree about the Grievous=Maul revelation should happen with the closeup of their eyes. It would provide an emotional punch, because you are right their staring into the eyes of Qui-Gon's murderer.

the real "feel" of Star Wars.

ok carry on.

A star wars game is cool because it is star wars. RPG Star Wars games are even better.

That being said, the snow on Hoth wasn't blue when the movies were first shown on the big screen.

Still, it does look kind of neat in a way.

Artisticly, the blue on Hoth is neat, but sense it wasn't done to be artistic (as far as I know), and it wasn't blue when it was first released I prefer the white Hoth.

Regarding the Greivous=Maul thing. What if when Obi-Wan confronts Greivous on Utapau, their exchange of words could go like this:

Greivous: Back away I will deal with this scum myself.

Obi-Wan: Your move.

Greivous: I will stare down on your body like I did your master's

(Off screen) Obi-Wan: Maul?

Greivous : Ah, yes. Bright aren't you.

Obi-Wan raises his saber and the fight continues as normal until the clones arrive then their second exchange would go as such:

(Close up of Greivous' eyes) Greivous: You will die by my blade.

(Close up of Obi-Wan's eyes) Obi-Wan: I don't think so.

This is just an idea.

The Multiplayer side of things wasn't really worthwhile either.

I'll grant that Jedi Outcast was pretty good, Some parts were fun and I have played through a number of times, But there were parts that were a bit bland.

I've got nothing against battlefronts - [except that I can't pilot any of the ships to save my life] but it's not something you can jump in on your own and bash around. Yeah I know it's not supposed to but that's just me.

Rebel assault has got to be one of the most frustrating games i've ever played.

Did anyone actually really honestly like Revenge of the Sith: The Video Game?

When I spend in the neighbourhood of $100 [AUD] on a game i expect to be entertained and feel that i've got my moneys worth - if crap games had slashed prices I guess I wouldn't mind so much.

I completed Republic Commando once, and have played diferent levels every now and then. It would have made a good online game. Kind of like Halo, but Star Wars style. I liked Revenge of the Sith, because of simplicity. But it was nothing liked Lucasarts hyped it up to be.

Requiem for a Clone War dream... (2003 series) (* unfinished project * - lots of info)

Two parts that I absolutely hate are when Anikan is saving those Jedi caught in those orange bubbles from that big droid, and when Anikan lands and Padme see his scar for the first time then it switched to a wide view and a light in a window goes out. The first one is cheesy and the second is just out of place. Right after this Anikan heoroic montage it switches to Anikan and Padme getting it on. It always pulls me out of the experience "awsome clone wars - pause Anikan and Padme make Luke and Leia - okay back to clone wars." We know how Luke and Leia came about we don't need it shown in any way.

At this point he started using the force to extend the lightsabers heat enough to melt the whole friggin door instead of cut into it.

And to add to this, I will provide some more lightsaber facts. Lightsabers are not hot until something makes contact with the blade. It has to do with the atoms in the plasma that makes the blade. When something touches the blade it causes the atoms to react violently creating a heat which can cut through almost anything. I read this recently and thought I would share.

Nope, the colours on the DVD have never really bothered me - I may be in the minority, but I like the blue cast to the Tantive IV and the caves on Hoth - I think it makes the ship look less clinical and makes Hoth look less like a set.

The colours have been desaturated slightly in the desert (between the first shots of the droids and R2 in the canyon) and the brightness raised in one shot as Luke steps out to look at the sunset.

The problem with blue Hoth is that snow isn't blue.

I don't know about Republic Commando or Battlefront, because I never played them, but I know Knights of the Old Republic was a good game, but it also wasn't by Lucasarts, but was outsourced by them to be done by another company. So Lucasarts didn't actually have much of anything to do with it.

I forgot about that. My mistake. You should check out Republic Commando it has probably the easiest squad maneuvering system. All you have to do is lock onto a point or object and a option will come up telling different ways your squad can interact with it. It is all a one button system. The game is really fun and you should check it out.

I heard this on the ROTS commentary I think. Lucas wanted it seem like after Anikan had killed Mace that he thought the Jedi wouldn't except his decision to sacrifice a Jedi to honor the laws and present Palpatine to the senate so he followed the Emperor's orders and destroyed the Jedi so that he wouldn't have to worry about them trying to kill him. This would explain why he didn't just cut the emperor down after he killed Mace, because he knew even though he did follow the law and save the emperor to be sentenced in court he had screwed up and had nowhere else to go. It is tragic when you think about it this way.
