MUST each Star Wars Ep. have to have...?
Time

Up until Episode VII somebody said, “What the?!” in every film. I’m pretty sure nobody says it in The Force Awakens. I always thought it was a fun little tradition. I wonder if it’ll happen again?

I personally think that Rogue One and the rest of the anthologies will distinguish themselves from the episodic films by not having a crawl. By not having a starfield background they can basically open anywhere they like.

The "Name that Movie/TV Show I Can't Name" Thread
Time

My friend and I watched a movie sometime around 1992/3 and I remember the cover had a boy on his bike (which we decided was a good enough reason to rent it). The plot was about the kid being transported to a dream-like world that was made up of (it seemed like) bits of other movies. The villain was trying to steal the colour from the world, or something.

I’m reasonably sure the title was the boy’s name followed by adventure, or excellent adventure, or amazing adventure.

This has been niggling at me for a VERY long time. Any ideas?

EDIT: The villain also sang a song about stealing the colour!

Batman vs Superman: DOJ thread? (contains spoilers)
Time

I paid good money to see Batman V Superman, twice:

Lex really didn’t need to be a socially awkward Tourette’s sufferer but I’m assuming this is his formative period so I’m seeing the performance as deliberate and thought-through.

The rest of the Justice League didn’t need to cameo but that’s more a business choice than a narrative one so I’m taking it as a few more herbs sprinkled into the sauce.

Jimmy Olson certainly didn’t need to be a CIA agent but as he wasn’t called by name in the actual film and unless you read the credits you’d never know so I’m letting it go.

Many, many scenes needed more time to breathe but I’m hoping the extended ultimate fantastico cut will remedy that. But then again it’s a Zack Snyder movie so we might get even more heavily clipped scenes!

Everything else worked really well for me and I was not disappointed (I don’t watch trailers so I had no idea what I was in for.)

Overall… I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and I feel like it was money well spent, twice.

The popcorn was horrid though. VUE cinemas have destroyed my childhood (somehow).

If it’s 10 months old Warbler then all the parts are still covered by the manufacturers guarantee. Find their website and explain what’s happened. It doesn’t sound like you did anything to provoke the breakdown (unless you WERE trying to feed it your dinner!)so there’s absolutely no reason why they shouldn’t offer to repair or replace it free of charge.

The casual use of the word “snatch” to describe the ladies was a bit shocking though - it has a much coarser meaning in my country!

It has the same meaning here as there. They aren’t using “snatch” to describe the ladies themselves.

Phew! It did kind of take me out of the movie for a second (delicate soul that I am).

After 38 years on the planet with 34 of them having my ears prick up at the mention of the name George Lucas I’ve somehow never seen “American Graffiti”. Today I watched it for the very first time.

I knew it had good reviews, cars and lil’ Ronnie Howard but nothing else. I was blown away and was smiling from beginning to end. The cars, the dialogue, the actors, the colours, the humour, the soundtrack! The only thing I didn’t like were the unnecessarily depressing captions at the end.

I usually see a film at least twice before buying it to keep but I’m ordering the blu ray come payday! I can’t wait to watch it again.

I feel both sad to have missed out seeing this decades ago and also glad to still be finding something new and wonderful just sitting there waiting to be found.

Was that a young Harrison Ford in a cowboy hat?! Despite his jaw not looking wide enough that was a big surprise. I must’ve missed his name in the credits.

(The casual use of the word “snatch” to describe the ladies was a bit shocking though - it has a much coarser meaning in my country!)

George Lucas’ career really would’ve been something special if he’d spent it making movies as alive and fun as this one.

I’m a huge fan of anything MCU related but I honestly wasn’t terribly excited about the new series (even though Blonde Xena and the Englishman were two of my faves!) I hope they fold them back into AOS somehow because I’d like to see more of them. If they don’t, well at least the characters had a “proper” send off.

Gutted to hear Peggy’s been cancelled. Gutted. I really hope they give at the very least another One Shot to tie things together somehow.

Bloody Friday the 13th, pfft!

TVS FRINK COMPUTER AMA
Time

If TV’s Frink was a human who often posted on this forum who then became a machine who posted even more often on this forum then are all those others who have ever posted on this forum actually just smaller pieces of the whole? Whether looked at in macro or micro this forum is Frink, and now he is machine all those who post are merely contributing to the enhancement of HIS whole.

This was his plan all along.

I think we are all Frink.

So many great things in the last Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

When you get lines like,

“What in the knievel?!”

“Swayze Daisy”

“Rasta-Hulk is your husband?!”

it really makes me glad I’ve stuck with this programme. The twist of Spoiler not really spoilering which resulted in Spoiler versus Spoiler at the end was brilliant. Very impressed with the entire series but these past few episodes have been such fun. I liked the little links to Civil War too.

One thing about the MCU in general though - will the Avengers ever find out Coulson’s alive? It’s been four years and he’s not really been keeping a low profile!

The Place to Go for Emotional Support
Time

The best thing to do is to ignore any fools you meet. Don’t dignify their negativity with your attention. They are absolutely everywhere in this world whether it’s in the queue at the supermarket or posting comments online, and they’re totally unavoidable.

I’m a new poster here myself, though I’ve been reading these boards for a long time. There’s been no shortage of twits who’ve come along to cause trouble of one kind or another over the years, but like an ice cube in coffee, Constable Zuvio’s career or Dolly Parton’s training bra - they weren’t around for long.

This site is, on the whole, a friendly and safe place to interact and not a place where evil cliques tend to form. If you bring positivity and humour to what you post then I’m sure you’ll find you get it in return. You’ll also get teased and disagreed with but that’s part of the fun too!

Leave all that nastiness behind. This is a great site where it won’t be needed and I, for one, welcome you.

Hehe, thanks Clutchins!

The commentary was ripped from Laserdisc as a commentary-only track (no other audio), and can be merged into whichever audio mix you like. But that initial rip, how it came about, and if there were errors in the ripping process, or different versions for different LD pressings, I just don’t know. I think schorman did made the initial audio rip, but I’m not sure.

Thanks for replying, Catbus. That’s interesting nonetheless and hopefully somebody will be able to figure out where the error began someday. I can’t imagine there’s too many people who still have access to the laserdiscs now (although if ever there was a place where they might be, it’s here!)

I gave in and upgraded Windows from 8 to 10. I did some research and felt happy reverting would be easy if I didn’t like it.

The overlong process deleted all the drivers and more than a few pieces of software. I tried to roll back the system but was told I couldn’t. I tried using the factory reset partition on start up to reinstall Windows 8. Windows 10 had erased that too - the partition was still there, it had just blanked it for some reason.

I have since used my old laptop to install Windows 7 and spent hours getting the drivers sorted. I then decided to install Ubuntu on the old laptop as I’d wanted to try it for a while. It installed quickly, cleanly and came with every driver required ready to go - all for free. Microsoft and their high-priced software have certainly got a lot to learn!

I like Windows 7 and I like Linux too so it’s turned out well I suppose.

But really. Grr, a bit of yay, but grr in general.
