I’m going to try your suggestion, Frink, but in all honesty it sounds a bit complicated.

Thanks for the link Frink. I’ll give it a listen but I’m bracing myself for negativity! 😮
+1’s all round for the above!!
Somebody, sometime, on a thread somewhere on this site was using something to run two versions of the movies and this thing, whatever it was, pointed out visual differences between them. It showed up as different colours and it looked quite odd.
I remember that the changes to the roofs were pointed out there, along with a few other tiny alterations - an explosion or something had been tinkered with.
I really don’t remember this very well but I swear I didn’t dream this…
I wish there were a way to ignore Avatar.
The Raven (2011)
A period serial-killer thriller with Edgar Allen Poe as the hero? Why not! And it kind of works too. It’s chock full of historical that-didn’t-happens but I’m sure Poe would’ve approved of his life being used to make such a nasty, dark work of fiction.
John Cusack is brilliant as Poe and so is Luke Evans as the obligatory “policeman who really, really wants to catch the bad guy”. Alice Eve is enchanting as ever but is little more than a damsel in distress. Brendan Gleeson is in it too, playing the exact same character he always does, but he’s as good as ever so it doesn’t matter.
These sort of films are ten-a-penny in modern (American) cinema but it was a neat twist to see things moved back a century and a half. It’s a worthwhile watch if you’re in the mood for this sort of thing.
I give it 3 pendulums out of 5.

I wonder what’s the “target demographic” for white cars.
Owners of, or people with shares in, car washes?
People who wish to identify and take responsibility for the bugs they kill?
Snowy country-based folk who like to keep a low profile?
Pretty much every car I saw today was either white or red.
Weird.
That is weird. Your town needs more diversity! 😉
A sensible answer?
I’d like all the compositing done cleanly - no garbage mattes or black lines or transparent objects. I know there’s many who are sentimental about them (especially on this site!) but it’s something that always draws attention to itself for me. It certainly wasn’t ever intended to be that way so I’d be happy to make that change.
This is the stuff of my dreams, one day I hope I’ll find a way to do this for myself! Thanks so much for sharing and please keep posting more photos.
Does anybody know a word that rhymes with asphyxiation?
What a rare event…
I drove twelve miles home tonight and didn’t encounter one bad driver. No speedsters, no tailgaters, nobody on the phone/smoking/eating/drinking/doing their makeup, nobody parked where they shouldn’t be, nobody failing to indicate.
Everybody I saw was just being super awesome behind the wheel. Well done, people of the place where I live.
Darn tootin’, and scented soap at that.
^LOL
I feel like the last line would sound better as:
Until he finally flipped his lid.
You’re right!
There once was a fella named Id,
Who put hate into all that he did,
With plenty to say,
He typed all through the day,
Until he finally flipped his lid.
Lake Placid Vs. Anaconda (2015)
No.
0/10
Here’s an absolutely cracking montage of 121 years of the horror/suspense/thriller genres on film. Very well put together too, keep your eye on the film titles!
Oh my. That has to be a spoof. It has to. Nobody would ever. No.
I would like to:
- Discuss ways to increase the diversity of the Original Trilogy forums, and not just with gender
- Discuss the issue in general
It sounds like you feel there’s a real lack of diversity here. Where does this feeling come from? Why do you believe this diversity deficit (which, if it exists, has occurred naturally) needs artificially altering? What ideas do you have for solving this “issue” as you describe it?
Good grief. Good grief, do I ever despise passive aggressive people. Good grief, good grief, good grief.
Now I’ve vented, could I suggest the OP make a list of what he or she wants to achieve with this thread (which has apparently become a “discussion”).
Your markdown syntax can make bullet points, it says so in most of HansiG’s posts.
Cat crap is the bane of the garden. My mum once saw an up-the-road-neighbour walk down the street and lean over her neighbour’s fence, and drop the poor creature on the garden to do its business! It was actually being taught to crap in another garden!
If they’d done that to me I’d be so angry I’d have bagged it all up and posted it through their letterbox (or at least, I’d have left it on their doorstep with a note).
Dat?
I think he means dis: http://originaltrilogy.com/user/Dat_SW_Guy/id/24492
I really hope HansiG’s days on this site are numbered. When is the ignore function returning? (it’s not gone for good, is it?!)
This site doesn’t actively discourage anyone from participating. Why on Earth would we want to expend time and energy encouraging a certain section of society to join in? That’s like deliberately hiring a certain ethnicity for a job to “show diversity”, it makes no sense unless there is already some form of discrimination happening.
The site is easy to find and not connected to anything that discriminates. I’d guess that the majority find it through Star Wars, which is currently focussed more toward a female point of view.
It’s perfectly okay for groups of people who share similar pastimes to all share the same gender. Read any thread on this site and you’ll see there’s as many different viewpoints as you’d get from any random sampling of mixed gender discussion.
Not everything is lacking simply because it doesn’t feature all kinds of everything.
