I really hope HansiG’s days on this site are numbered. When is the ignore function returning? (it’s not gone for good, is it?!)
This site doesn’t actively discourage anyone from participating. Why on Earth would we want to expend time and energy encouraging a certain section of society to join in? That’s like deliberately hiring a certain ethnicity for a job to “show diversity”, it makes no sense unless there is already some form of discrimination happening.
The site is easy to find and not connected to anything that discriminates. I’d guess that the majority find it through Star Wars, which is currently focussed more toward a female point of view.
It’s perfectly okay for groups of people who share similar pastimes to all share the same gender. Read any thread on this site and you’ll see there’s as many different viewpoints as you’d get from any random sampling of mixed gender discussion.
Not everything is lacking simply because it doesn’t feature all kinds of everything.
Yikes…are you in the UK? I heard there’s been some pretty bad floods there.
Yep! I’m right down in the south and we’ve been quite lucky so far but a lot of people further north haven’t. I don’t know if it’s just my perspective getting older but my country seems to be flooding a lot more than it used to.
Russian robot makes a bid for freedom!
Word of Computer Frink’s political campaign has reached the east. Robots of the world are realising that there is a better way to live.
Agreed, the eye thing is essential. Mark can play anything so a squinty wink shouldn’t be too much for him.
I’m rating movies these days using an item, character or event featured in the film. I like to think it makes for a funner, more enjoyable review, but it might just be because my pills have stopped working.
“Santa Claus: The Movie” deserves 3 festive elves out of 5, “Wild Things” gets 4 Kevin Bacon todgers out of 5, and “Se7en” (somewhat confusingly) earns itself 5 sins out of 5.
It’s a winning method and I’m sticking with it.
I saw an old episode of Columbo today and I can honesty say that I think Mark Ruffalo would play him very well. I hope one day it all comes together, even if it ends up like the A-Team movie and doesn’t quite work I’ll still be glad that they tried.
If I had the money/the technology was there, I’d have my entire skeleton reinforced with titanium.
Assuming you survived the procedure and returned to the state you were in before you’d tear every muscle in your body trying to move around. Why on Earth would you, of all people, want to inflict such an excruciating death on yourself?
Your body’s tough enough as it is Duracell, it just needs training up. See the Rocky franchise for instructions.
Yesterday afternoon my village was the victim of a flash flood. There was thunder, lightning strikes on roofs, hail, water rushing along the roads as high as the wheel arches of cars. The front and back doors were shaking from the rain beating on them and it was as black as night. All in the space of about ten minutes! Luckily for us we are on a slight incline so the water didn’t hang around for long after. But what a mess that storm left.
About two miles along the coast a woman fell off a cliff trying to rescue her dog (miraculously, both survived!) Unfortunately a cyclist was killed by a car near the next town and a van driver slid off the road and died just up from that.
A bad day’s weather to be sure, made worse by the fact that today is beautiful and summery.

That’s exactly what I just said when I read it!!
Either Bingo is further evidence that Scots are just too freakin’ tough to let a wee bout of dying from fatal pneumonia keep them down or we’ve all been reading ghost posts this whole time #afterlife confirmed!
I really can’t see any other explanation 😉
EDIT: In all seriousness, moviefreakedmind, go see the doctor as soon as you can. Your symptoms aren’t trivial.
I’ve been away for two days and I come back to this?! What the bloody hell’s been going on here?!

Superman mercilessly killing Zod at the end is just wrong though. Oh wait, wrong movie… Oh wait, no it’s not!!! Damn you Man of Steel haterz, damn you to the Phantom Zone! Remember your history! Never forget the atrocities of the 80’s!
What if I hate MoS for reasons other than the slaying of Zod?
It’s ambiguous but they are thrown down pits (what is it about the late seventies/eighties and caped guys causing pitfalls?) So he could survive any version. Indeed deleted material of them being arrested was included in the television cut suggesting that death was not the intended fate for the terrible trio. That’s a world away from a fist fight causing whole buildings to collapse and a neck snap.
I was kinda kidding, guys! I was only pointing out that the haterz jumped on Zod being killed as the whole entire reason they didn’t like MoS - “Superman doesn’t kill people” etc. Superman deliberately turning those villains human, making them essentially harmless to him, and then chucking them down into the icey pits anyway, an act which would kill most humans (except Chuck Norris) is probably a lot worse than deliberately breaking Zod’s neck because he was seconds away from vapourising some completely innocent bystanders. It’s not a very good argument at all (like the similar ones haterz use against TFA). There’s plenty of legitimate reasons to not like MoS (the city-wide destruction being one of them until it was addressed/retconned in BVS) but jumping on a popular criticwagon to down a film seems to be a growing trend that I find irksome.
I think I prefer the idea of Zod and the gang being led away in handcuffs at the end of Superman II though, that’s the ultimate indignity for a meglomaniac like him!

I hear he does a great Simon Pegg vocal impersonation.
The Lester cut is the one I watched over and over again for two decades, but I’ve watched the Donner cut ever since it was released so I suppose I prefer that. I don’t like the end though and even if kissing Lois and wiping her memory is the daftest thing EVER I’d much rather have that happen!
Ideally, a fan edit incorporating “the best” of both versions would be my preferred cut.

I apologise for my outburst, it won’t happen again.

It looks pretty good, Hans, but I don’t think the bottom five and a half lines are meant to be there. Also, the stars seem a bit too big and the original has always had a bit of a blue tint to it. Almost there though.
please tell me this is serious

Sounds like something you’d go into a back room of a strip club to get.
It’s nice to see that they’ve kept Wes Craven’s executive producer credit on the new season of Scream. I think it’s a respectful thing to do and I hope that wherever he is he’s making sure they keep up the good work!

What, really? It looks terrible. Green sand.
Seriously, it’s green? Wow, it definitely does not look green to me! I’m legitimately colourblind (and not joking) so I’m sorry if I sounded like I was mocking you (for once, I actually wasn’t!)
But hey, a green desert planet is certainly alien looking - plus, people won’t get it mixed-up with Jakku! I say keep Tatooine green!
Henceforth it shall be known as “Tatoogreen”.
This is a thing now.
“Silent Night, Deadly Night” (1984).
It’s fun sometimes to watch a festive movie in the summertime so I took Netflix up on their recommendation.
I thought the pacing was good, it took its time and set everything up nicely. It had a bit with a wonderfully batty old man in a mental hospital. It had a fabulous scene where a little kid punches out Santa. It had some genuinely legitimate things to say about abuse and post traumatic stress.
But the plot was “Halloween”, almost a carbon copy! Except that instead of Michael Myers we have a man killing people dressed as Father Christmas and they literally just replaced Donald Pleasance with a frowning nun.
But then again, there’s something rather fun about watching a deranged lunatic killing everybody he encounters whilst screaming, “NAUGHTY!”
It’s derivative, stupid, ultimately cynical and shows a somewhat worrying interest in coupling sex with violence and then dwelling too long on that violence - but at least it’s trying to say something about something.
I give it 4 bloody axes out of 10.
Honestly, I think the last one is the best. If you’re going for something completely different then I’d continue with that.
Are you aware of Angel’s colour changes? If not, he’s well worth checking out: http://aggeiw.deviantart.com
