But that fight will be between Obi-Wan and Anakin, and therefore we know that Vader did not “betray and murder” Luke’s father, as Obi-Wan tells him later. So tim’s right, the whole fight would have to be removed.

For something with no substance, strange it is to emphasize the conflict with a stagging and visual ideas that reflect the inner turmoil of the characters. As if the people involved in the production on this film knew a few things about making movies. Very curious… Oh! I forgot: the PT is the worst thing ever in History, and one day Disney came and Star Wars was great again thanks to… emptiness (ST, Rogue One: here you really have no substance).
But you’re right on one thing: it’s not the best duel of the saga. “Only” one of the best.

Just saw it. AT-AT’s! Mon Mothma! Old school Star Destroyers! So many chills-inducing visuals in 90 seconds or whatever it was. I’m in.
You mean: so many things you have already seen more than 30 years ago ? Ok… cinema nostalgia has killed for good creativity. This is truly terrible.
Hum… not convinced. At all. But could be fun. The main storytelling seems shitty as usual (“this is a rebellion. I rebel”, oh this is embarrassing…) but visually I can enjoy a few action sequences.

Who gives a damn about understanding what’s going on in a movie ? Everyone who likes good movies I guess. You reallly should watch ANH by the way (I don’t write “rewatch” because you obviously have never seen this movie), the political situation is clear as crystal in it (opening crawl, subsequent dialogues with Leia, Vader, the Imperial Officer aboard the Tantive; then the Death Star meeting, with a guy called Tarkin who provides information about the Senate, the Emperor, Governors, and so on).

I wonder if the music from ANH used when Rey wields Anakin’s lightsaber has been remixed. I saw the movie in its original version (but same issue with the dubbed version) in theater and this piece of music sounded weird, like it had been over-mixed. Would be a very welcome correction.

A dumb vilain, but a dangerous one. I mean, he kills two old unarmed guys, one Starship computer and one interrogation chair. A great SW vilain, no doubt about that 😄

Like I said to you (a few weeks ago ?) you’re not on a mission to defend TFA each time someone says something against this thing/“movie”. Don’t take it personnaly, you love it, I don’t, end of story. Don’t want to argue with you on every thread about it. I don’t even read most of your posts (whereas you seem to fetch every single one I write on this forum), so there is really no use, save your time dude. Will talk about it further when Ep VIII is released, until then I stick to my view (which is: “good first 45 minutes, then less and less interesting and increasingly stupid screenplay”), whatever you can say. As if I needed someone to explain me such a dull movie anyway…
Now, back to the only interesting thing about SW since ROTS…
as far as Rebels and The Clone Wars go, I definitely think SWR is the better show, but its connections with TCW are a necessary part of why I think it does such a good job of unifying everything.
Yes, it’s kind of a reward for having watched the 120 or so TCW episodes. Too bad the series was too long and failed at focusing on a few characters only (Bane, Windu, Padmé, Satine, Dooku, Grievous, even Yoda: don’t really care about them in TCW. Anakin, Ahsoka, Maul, Ventress, Palpatine, Obi-Wan: great stuff). But I’ve made a best of list when I watched it, so next time I want to make a TCW run it won’t be a complete run, only a selection that ends with the 4-part Ahsoka centric story, which is greatly followed by the Ahsoka/Vader subplot of SWR. I really hope they will link it closely and nicely to ROGUE ONE and finish it at its best (not like the awful TCW season 6…).
I watched the PT about a month ago and the OT this week (I just finished ROTJ twenty minutes ago, which is why I’m inspired to post this at this particular moment), with the second half of Rebels season 2 spread out in between as my lead-up for tomorrow’s TFA blu-ray release, and I’m really struck by how well this show works as connective tissue. The two trilogies have never felt more like they exist in the same universe for me than they did going into Star Wars straight from that last Ahsoka arc with the prequels still in recent memory.
And you don’t even really need to watch “The Clone Wars” (well, at least 10/15 episodes to understand it better). I have finished my “Rebels” season 1 run, it’s very good, even the weak episodes deliver something to the characters or the universe. It’s a ANH reboot, but a clever one (not a lazy “JJ Galaxy” thing I couldn’t care less about, with once great characters now old and useless, so old and so useless…), that links PT and OT naturally.
If I’m not mistaken, “The ancient fear” was said to have been a possibility for Ep VII.
Oh, I did not remember there was this dialogue in ROTJ. Ok then, case dismissed 😃 Ezra as Snoke ? Why not, but Snoke seems very (very) old and barely human (he seems to be the same species as Ventress). I still think Snoke is going to be a completey new character.
Vader with eyebrows was a bit of a head scratch. I can only assume it’s an homage to OUROTJ.
Not sure: it’s only to use less than half a face that can be easily recognizable to Ahsoka. It helps to create the emotion of the scene. It you use the eyebrowless face, you don’t link CW Anakin to Rebels Anakin/Vader. That’s all.
I’m rewatching the entire series and I’m very surprised that the first season is in fact quite good (I’m half way through it, even the “Pitch Black” episode is a lot a fun - would be great to get Vin Diesel as an Inquisitor voice performer for season 3). Rebels really is a better series that Clone Wars: more character oriented, does play well with both OT and PT elements, best narrative value; whereas CW was essentially war porn and endless action scenes with minor (and uninteresting) movie characters. CW was only good when it was focused on Ahsoka and Anakin (and sometimes on Obi-Wan, Maul, Ventress); Rebels greatly benefits of it.
Let’s just hope they finish the series this time and don’t make it last beyond 3 or 4 seasons.
Just a thought: could Ezra be the “another one” Yoda mentions in ESB (since it’s not Leia, who has never managed to learn the ways of the Force) ? He’s the same age as Luke (both born on Empire Day). Or could he be related to the Knights of Ren ?
Was the wipe the only difference in the ROTS DVD? I thought there was something else, but my memory has a way of being blatantly wrong sometimes.
