No. We’ll do that when Rogue One gets released I guess.

No, interesting project though, but not what I’m looking for. More like a movie with isolated score track (the same track that can be found on Harmy’s versions of the OT).

Strangely I’ve activated the possibility that everyone can download this video. Don’t know why you can’t. Try this site: savevideo.me Enter the video link and you should be able to download it. Works for me.
Thanks, it worked perfectly.
By the way, it’s not related (but close) however I don’t know where else I can ask it: your reconstruction reminds me of a version of the PT where only the soundtrack can be heard. Does anyone know if this project really exists and if it does how is it called ?
Hulk reviews are very interesting (even if you don’t agree with him this is high quality), so here is a way to read them more comfortably: http://simonganz.com/2013/04/the-dehulkifier/
It was a joke to dis avatar
Which is a very good movie so I don’t get the joke. You should watch it again (the extended cut is better), it’s incredibly well made and filled with ideas, concepts and with mythological depth (not to mention that Cameron is a “cineast”, not just a “director”). Something that is sadly lacking in TFA…
And you’re right I guess: the man who made Aliens, Terminator, Terminator 2, The Abyss, Titanic, Avatar knows nothing about cinema and storytelling. I’m glad TFA reputation is going down this past few weeks with the video release, more and more people are now aware that TFA is flat and adds nothing to the myth. I just hope it won’t be the case with the upcoming movies (it might be too late for Rogue One and Episode 8 but there is still hope for Episode 9 to actually tell something). This text is brillant and explains many things I’ve been takling about here: http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2016/06/28/star-wars-the-force-alluded-to
(the only thing I don’t agree with is that he thinks Daisy Ridley delivers a good performance, but as long as he explains clearly why her character is quite a catastrophe, I can only concur 😃)
So James, when you’re not paid to talk about movies you’re involved in (Terminator 5 review… I don’t blame you but you deeply know it was a shitty movie) what do you really think of the greatest 2015 success ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJKtPJk3b2M
(I love this guy in a heterosexual way)
Thanks, this is very cool, I have never seen this preview. It could even be used as a “flash-back” inserted between TESB and ROTJ (mini-machete order). Strange music for SW, where does it come from ? (“the mummy returns” ? “Van Helsing” ?)
edit: I’d like to keep a full quality copy of it but it does not seem possible to do so. Is there a lock on the file ?
The Ben v Vader duel in ANH: it can be improved with the existing footage and if needed a few new shots could have been done with doubles to make this fight more nervous.
If another change could be wished, I would go with new scenes for the battle of Endor to see a real fight between ewoks and stormtroopers (and something close to that could be reinserted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gT-ZsR2P8dU).
Gosh I completely forgot about this project. Still not in the mood for sharing it DarthRush ?
It’s a good question for every single SW movie (and other) I guess:
TPM: more than a week (3 days on Tatooine, a few days on Coruscant, and last scene a few days after Naboo is taken back);
AOTC: more that a week, less than two (2 days on Coruscant; 3 days to travel to Naboo and to leave to Tatooine; 2 days on Tatooine and to go to Geonosis; 1 day on Geonosis; and finally the ending shot that can occur a few days after the battle of Geonosis);
TCW: first series: 3 years; second series: 2 years;
ROTS: tricky one. Padmé is already pregnant, Anakin has not showed up in a few months, and the babies are delivered at the end (with the ending montage which is Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey stuff). I would say a few weeks, maybe a complete month or more;
Rebels: 5 years
ANH: around a week, yeah;
TSWHS: 1 day: Life Day !
ESB: again, tricky one. So much is going on in this one, I would say more than a week, two weeks top (2 days on Hoth… and then it’s almost impossible to guess);
ROTJ: 3 days on Tatooine, 1 day on Dagobah, 1 day with the fleet, 2 days on Endor. A complete week ?
TFA: Poe captured on the first night; BB8 travels to Rey the next day and then spends the night with her (lucky bastard some might say); they take off from Jaku the next day and meet Han; it may take a day to meet Maz; First Order comes, Rey is captured, Rey escapes, they get back to the Reistance base… well, another full day ? Rey goes to the ancient Jedi Temple the next day I guess. 5 days ?
Ok: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens- A Gentle Reconstructure
Well, stick to “Lone Star Edition”, it’s clear enough.
Shadows of the Empire
(it was considered for the actual title)
Or: A New Dawn

I do not plan on using this.
Good call.
Who said anything about watching it again ? It can be put in a boxset for completist’s sake, that’s all. The best option would be to release the movie the way it was supposed to be: as a few episodes, that way you can at least watch the first meeting between Ahsoka and Anakin without enduring the “son of Jabba” assignment.
I hope it will be explained how Saw Gerrera got that fat in 20 years.
Um, I would assume he ate a lot during said 20 years.
Yeah, he just went on a Steven Seagal/Carrie Fisher diet.
Ok I concur. Less is better. So i guess the R2 awakening scene will stay at the end.
edit: I would like to watch your next workprint of it (not entirely but at least the second half where you’ve made the changes). Don’t hesitate to send me the link when it’s completed !

I think I may cheat slightly by also removing Threepio’s line, “It is very unlikely that R2 would have the rest of the map in his backup data.”
Is it possible to change the line with “R2 could have the rest of the map in his backup data”, in order to make the puzzle scene less weird ?
Seems nice. If I get it right you’re just moving a few things around, especially the death star 3.0 subplot, but nothing else (fan service, cgi monsters, weird dialogues), aren’t you ?
edit: you’ve already answered !

This is not a Hal9000 endeavor, per se, but a collaboration on a core editing idea that could be an edit all on its own, and be incorporated into others’ more extensive TFA fan edits.
Could now be time for Lucasfilm to re-release a TCW boxset with the movie and the final season (and episodes in chronological order ? Would be great but I don’t see it happening) and, if possible, the first series in HD quality as well as bonus material. I hope it will be explained how Saw Gerrera got that fat in 20 years.
A clear statement that Disney will never produce prequel reboots. Like. Never. They are binding both trilogies each time they get a chance to do so. TFA was trying to “fix” ROTJ and used PT references; “Rebels” continued “TCW” which were an attempt to fix the PT background, and now “Rogue One” is probably going to be the missing link between ROTS and ANH to smoother the transition (what Lucas would have done if he had not trapped himself with this “trilogy” idea and had sticked to his “5 part prologue” synopsis written on a yellow draft back in the 70’s). The movie still can suck but I must admit this is a nice and smart move.

You said that it was declared “off canon” before Disney bought it.
Sorry but I cant’ take it seriously. You don’t seem to understand how dumb your way to ask questions is. Oh gosh, I think I’m gonna stay away from forums a few more weeks.
I enjoy the Gamera films. That’s my subjective opinion.
But they are objectively bad films.
Not the Heisei era (including the rather nice Gamera the Brave). The Showa era… yeah, it’s bad.
I meant when was it declared non-canon?
I’m pretty sure it was still canon when the first bunch of episodes of the CGI series came out. An interview of Dave Filoni can be found somewhere in which he declared he loved and respected the original show and that the CGI version was a sequel not a remake (it was before the new show was aired I guess). In fact I don’t think the first series has been officially declared non-canon by Lucas and Lucasfilm, they just stop mentioning it during the release of TCW ze movie, and then they erased it from the website and stoped producing video releases of it. Curiously the second show has never dealt with the same exact time era of the first series (Anakin is already a Jedi Knight in the second show, and it ends before Anakin and Obi-Wan were sent for a mission in the Outer-Rim territories that last months), so both can co-exist without too much continuity issues. It finally was officially declared non-canon by default when the “great reboot” was triggered in april 2014.
If someone can find something official, like an interview of GL where the conflict between the two series is mentionned, could be useful !
I remember it was declared off canon before Disney took over
When was that?
http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2012/10/30/disney-star-wars-lucasfilm/1669739/
Even Shadows of the Empire has been erased ? It was such a huge thing in the 90’s (book, comics, soundtrack album, video games, action figures, etc.)… I also still don’t get it about the first CW series, which has no real continuity issues with the CGI series and the PT. I remember it was declared off canon before Disney took over (I rewatched the complete 2 hours show a few weeks ago, it is still great. Not perfect, but brilliantly done and it delivers what’s missing in the PT of needed Anakin’s characterization).
So, my canon would be: I-II-CW (2003-2005)-CW (2008-2014, 35 episodes best of)-III-Rebels (not everything but at least half of it)-IV-V-VI (Hal’s I-II-III; Q2’s VI; Bluray’s V; hybrid edition or Harmy’s IV)… the rest will depend upon the quality of VIII and IX… and Rogue one.
