This make up test is great. Pygram should have got more scenes in ROTS… and in Rogue One as well 😃

I fondly remember when Anthony Daniels said that he thought episode 7 was the best script of the saga.
Though I like it a lot, I agree with Haseo in that it’s not as good as ESB (IMO).
You tend to forget that if ESB might be the best film of the saga, ANH still has the best script. ESB is “just” a sequel; ANH is a builder of worlds.
It just seems off given how Bail has been portrayed in the nuEU. Every time he’s been mentioned in any books or comics he’s seemed to be 100% a civilian.
In Rebels ("-5"), he’s clearly going to get involved with the Rebel Alliance : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nd9zT0eI2z8
And his daugther wishes Ben to deliver the DS plans to her father, so we can guess eventually his former Senator friend Mothma made him part of the Rebel Alliance (“and a traitor !”). Gosh, would be so fun to have him encounter Lord Vader…
Even if it’s not such a great looking Tarkin, I would have loved to see more of him in ROTS. Just a couple of scenes, nothing more.
About Mon Mothma’s age:
In ROTJ ("+4"), let’s assume she’s 50 yo (Caroline Blakiston, who got the part, was 50 yo in 1983 - she still lives nowadays… caméo in the ST could be a possibility);
In ROTS (deleted scenes, “-19”), with the assumption she’s 50 in “+4”, she’s 27 in “-19”. Genevieve O’Reilly, who took the part (and who still has it in Rogue One), was 28 yo in 2005;
In Rogue One (year 0, roughly one or two weeks before ANH I guess), she’s then supposed to be 46 yo. Genevieve O’Reilly is 39 yo this year.
So the age difference is not really an issue. She looks younger in Rogue One but not that younger. Having to lead the rebellion after the death of Bail Organa was no easy task.
I like Mark, the guy is funny and always in good mood. Just let’s not forget his job is currently to advertise the new SW movies. I bet next time he’s going to say “VIII might be the best SW of the saga” or something close.
So basically “70’s style acting” are actors acting in the 70’s ? Fisher is somehow weak in ANH but Cushing is awesome. Which one does represent the “70’s style acting” you don’t like ?
Could you put both tracks ? Then people can get rid of the audio output they are not interested in with mkvtoolnix (448 kbps or PCM). Do what’s best for you.
Cut list and reconstructure seem very nice. I could give TFA another try with a stronger edit. I’ll definitely watch your cut when it’s released.
The only other thing they could do to connect it to STAR WARS is by having 70’s style acting but I would hate that.
What about 70’s style haircut and british accent ?
The imperial material really seems nice, with old school sets and costumes (minus the tank, too "black hawk down"). Still not convinced at all by the look of the rebels (and their awful lines), but if Bail makes a caméo (he’s supposed to get the DS plans) it would be very cool. The character appears in (i) “Rebels”, so the guess is probably right. I sure hope the movie to be a little bit surprising and very entertaining, not too “dark and gritty” bullshit. Sure thing is that it’s not going to be easier to watch RO and ANH in a row than to watch ROTS and ANH in a row. It might even be harder (Full Metal Jacket to sci-fi fantasy…). Not really an issue for me since I don’t like TFA for its complete lack of novelty and personnality. At least RO looks different.
I think it works alright, not great, but I think it livens up the fight for sure.
It does not work at all. “Battle of the heroes” is a swashbuckler cue with bits of “mickeymousing” composing in it. It so perfectly fits the scene it was composed for that you simply can’t readapt it to something too much different. Vader v Ben in ANH is perfect musicless. Even Lucas did not want to add the Vader’s in SE versions (and it was a close one I guess, since he messed up with leitmotiv in AOTC so much).
Shadows of the Empire was actually the OST for the game based on the book btw.
I’m not sure it was composed for the game. Like… it wasn’t at all. The game is not really based to the book or the comics. There also was a comics sequel subtitled “evolution”. Anyway, I like this soundtrack album, but it has come to my knowledge that Joel McNeely didn’t like it because he knew he openly stole classic repertoirs themes.
Here’s Ani !
Your all italics reply to me came across as very condescending. If you want a nice discussion, you should probably be nice, too.
Ok, you know what ? Well… sorry about that, I don’t usually mean to be condescending (when I do it’s more obvious), only to stress parts that I consider pivotal in my post (I happen to think it’s more lively to do so). The reply about “charming naivety” was in italics because it was a movie reference (possible I have misquoted it… as a matter of fact I have totally misquoted the reference). And it was a reply to quite an expeditive one you’ve made… and you eventually provided a more complete reply afterwards.
So Frank, if it’s ok between the two of us we can consider this incident close. No hard feelings! And I hope I’m wrong about this all Lucasfilm/Disney thing so we’ll be getting the OOT in glorious 4k quality some other day !
edit: @towne32
Thanks dude !
It’s quite hard around here to have a simple conversation about anything. Even something as casual.
I realize that typing this is a waste of time
I really don’t get why you write this in the first place. I write a long post in order to respectfully discuss a thread with elements that might explain why Disney/Lucasfilm would not/or would release the OOT and all I get is aggressivity and expeditive replies. I mean, no kidding “Song of the South” is not “Star Wars”, thanks ! Sorry for trying to discuss a thread with different hindsight/point of view, really ! Guys, keep it cool, there is really no need to act like pricks, I’m sure it’s possible, even in the heat of a summer day. If not… just don’t reply to me, I usually don’t interact here with you anyway so why bother.
Writing everything in italics isn’t adding anything to your point.
Dude:
Your post is quite curious, as well is your logic. But anyway…
Disney does not handle Star Wars, Lucasfilm does, so Disney’s track record of not releasing original versions is irrelevant here.
Such naivety is charming.

The new films are trying very consciously to recapture that OT feel. A release of the OOT by the time Ep9 hits theaters would only make sense.
Really ? Last time i’ve checked there was a CGI Falcon and a CGI main character in TFA. I’m not really convinced by the “OT feel” that would prove Disney’s gonna release the OOT. Mainstream audience watch the bluray and don’t complain about these versions.
What will they come up with to sell the 4k UHD release?
Well, the answer is in the question: the 4k UHD release will contain… 4k picture quality and awesome sound. This is enough to sell it.
Now the fact is that the original prints are still somewhere in Lucasfilm’s vault. Otherwise they can’t make a 4k release (ie a 8k restoration). Or else they can use the 1997 SE prints (it was released in theaters, I guess the definition of the print is higher than 2k, right ?), and then they would need to “refresh” every CGI special effect (Paramount did it with ST-TNG, Disney has the money to do so). But at this point, they will also need to change the colors to match Lucas canon version, so… hum… not sure the OOT would be given as a “bonus”, but at least there is a slight chance that the 1997 version ends up being in an anniversary boxset… which would still be a gift for DE edition since they are way closer to the original versions than the 2004/2011 releases are…
As a matter of fact, Disney once released a very shitty version of “Beauty and the beast” as well as an extended version of “Lion King”. But the original (and far better) versions have been released in bluray; the extended cut of “Lion King” is even nowhere to be seen in bluray I think (but a few minor alterations are still present if I remember correctly). Disney is not exactly “snow white” for its own video releases (“Song of the South” anyone ? Bad movie but I love the animated parts, still they don’t want to release it… like Lazy Lucas does not want to release the OOT in a proper way…), so I woulnd’t exactly count on their alleged “cinephilia” or “OT respect” to actually deliver the original cuts…
Difficult to see, the future is…
Isn’t the hole bigger because Luke just crashed through it? I guess you’re saying it’s suddenly that big before he goes out…
It would be cool to see Luke smash through! That’s about it, the hole becomes bigger even before he gets flung out. I guess adjusting the window would’ve been easier than training Mark’s stunt double to smash through it.
Because the focus is different from one shot (Luke in the front while the window is in the background) and the second shot (Luke and the window in the same focal plane), don’t you think ?
You should separate all elements before importing them, that way you make sure what audio track you wish to use. Use mkvcleaver or something like that.
If Windu didn’t die, what has he been doing all these years ? Was he eventually killed by Vader or the Inquisitors ?

Can you post a time code for the Ep3 audio glitch? I remember you pointing it out before and I dismissed it since it was minuscule and I thought I was finished at that point!
Found exactly where it is: 0:52’45’’ (“i’m going to turn you over the Jedi Council”).
You should probably post your issue on tweeter, among your 250+ followers there might be someone who can provide an idea (or who can at least let you know if there is another way to correct the issue).
edit: since we’re talking about III-LOE, in case I also remember someone pointed out a very small video issue about the opening crawl. It can only be noticed with a certain kind of screen (like a computer screen). If you happen to use another video source it might correct it.
Yeah, I’ll make sure there’s nothing else to tweak. Nothing that will affect sync whatsoever; that is 110% locked forever. But I plan to, since this happened anyway, do a few tiny things like retime the custom end credits so the rest doesn’t need to be sped up, and do a new crawl for Ep1 with the same title font as the other two. And the subtitles will be muxed in rather than a separate download.
If you want to correct 2 more little issues, in II-TAS there is a noticeable cut when Anakin says "The way I remember you" and in III-LOE there is the sound glitch when Anakin threatens Palpatine in his office (I can try to help you with that, using audacity it can be possible). However I understand this could affect the sync, so if it does don’t bother it’s really nothing.
Good idea the mux the subs as well. I’ll send you an updated file for I-COD in which I have finally decided to use the same french translation used for the book (someone told me that UN VENT DE TRAHISON sounds way better than UN VOILE DE DISSIMULATION, and I agree).
As for your question regarding the video source I can’t honestly help you, but if it doesn’t add work you could do as Harmy and al. do with the OT and release two versions (Schorman’s and bluray’s).
edit: I remember now that the bluray of AOTS has alltered the montage in two sections (Coruscant chase and Dooku’s escape): http://www.dvdactive.com/editorial/articles/star-wars-the-changes-part-four.html?post_id=79063&action=report
edit 2: I took the liberty to partially quote your two posts about your exporting issue on a french forum where I know one or two people (professional editors) who might provide a tip or two. Not sure to get a quick answer but if it can help… I’ll let you know if I get something.
Yes, sorry to hear about this issue ! I’ve also never spotted it since I’ve watched them through my NAS system which can’t proceed 5.1 that way but only 3.1 with my current amplifier. Also sorry that I can’t provide any help, being not very competent with editing softwares… Good luck and take your time !
Well, Windu is dead, so…
Character:
19 + 3 + 1 + 32 = 55 years. If a human character, should have been young during ROTS; if an alien it does not really matter. Maybe a batch of clone troopers with untouched aging; the last batch of the Clone Wars having been left dormant and then forgot somewhere, like Khan and friends in the Star Trek tv series episode. I remember there was a story about that in a postlogy book. Was this in the Thrawn trilogy ?
It’s quite hard because main characters of the PT are Jedi and politicians, most of them being killed during the Empire events. Old Watto then ? The character has filled his purpose. Hum… why not a Battle Droid with free will ? Could be quite cute.
Location:
Naboo seems like a fair choice. Coruscant should eventually been seen or at least mentioned. Could also be fun to see more of Kashyyyk (technically it first appeared in TSWHS).
Who is this we you speak of? 😉
Sorry I meant “they’ll”. No offense intended.
