CGI Yoda actually replaced puppet Yoda in TPM.

“Creepy” Yoda, not “Real” Yoda. I’m talking about the very same puppet used for the OT. The guy is 800 yo, 30 years younger shouldn’t be that noticeable.

I feel you. What’s funny is that the TPM CGI Yoda looks considerably younger than the CGI Yoda’s in the rest of the trilogy.

I don’t remember CGI Yoda being different in TPM than in the rest of the PT. I believe it’s the same model. The difference might be that the skin texture, the animation and the lightning are slighly better.

Still, the best change made to the PT to date:

CGI Yoda is very good and the animation is strong, but puppet (aka “real”) Yoda has something more, a physical presence, even the eyes have more soul than the CGI version. You would like Yoda to be replaced by its CGI version in ESB and ROTJ ? I would love to see the PT CGI version replaced with the “real” Yoda (not the creepy TPM puppet).

It’s stupid that they decided the snowspeeder’s designation was T-47. They weren’t evacuating those, they were part of the defense. And Luke calls them “heavy equipment” which sounds much more like a generator or some kind of lifter or loader or something.

Yeah, I always hated this one and that they made the BT-16 the stupid B’omarr monk droids. Those troopers would be making idle chatter about a new type of speeder or a blaster not a weird spider droid.

But it never appears in the movie ? Only in the UE ? So… who… cares ?

But the movies are fictional ? Only on film ? So… who… cares ?

Movies are fictional ? But… why the “a long time ago”, thought it was a historical movie. What are you… talking… about ?

Episode VIII : The Last Jedi - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *

Hopefully Rian does something cool with Maz in VIII.

 • How did you survive the First Order attack on your planet Maz ?
 • A good question, for another time.

(yep, “layered characters”…)

I was hoping she wouldn’t show up in VIII. The character wasn’t interesting in TFA (she gives the saber, that’s all she basically does; she doesn’t provide any real information, just a recap of the former vilains of the previous films), they should have created a new one.

Do you have any hopes/ideas for X-XII?
Time

I’d like the second postlogy (!) to be set thousand of years after IX, in a curious world where no one remembers the Force, except a weird protocol droid unit of the ancient world which survived the “great purge” (à la Dune); this unit tells the story which begins to spread. There would be a man, lost, confused, wounded by his past, trying to survive, searching for this so-called Force which could make things right again… hum… And… well, I just want George Miller to direct it. Anyway Episode XIII is already finished, it’s called “Mad Max Fury Road”.

Star Wars Episode II: The Approaching Storm (Released)
Time

The only PT fan edit I’ve seen so far with a dub track is Q2’s Episode I (french dub). But Hal’s versions come with subtitles; if you speak german it would be quite easy (and not that time-consuming) to produce german subs out of them (the time-pattern being already done, you would only have to translate around 900 lines per film). If you want to do so let me now I can send you the french and english srt files. My german is not good enough to do them (and I’m currently working on TESB new french subtitles) but it would be very cool if you could contribute !

(by the way DominicCobb, if you keep a strict log of your changes - in number of frames - it would be very easy to readapt TAS subtitles to your cut; only the extra dialogues would require some work. I would be interested in having a slighty alternate cut of Hal’s version with the droid factory sequence in my archives 😃)

About the bluray picture quality: has anyone watched kk650 regraded version ? I’m usually not a fan of his regraded versions which are too yellow to my taste, but he seems to have nailed AOTC.

Ranking the Star Wars films

Harrison is great in TFA.

He’s so bad in TFA… (we was bad in ROTJ but funny and young bad, not embarrassing old man bad… he doesn’t give a shit in both films anyway, the guy wanted Han to die so bad that he even was bad at playing it…).

I don’t really care if people think TFA is better than ROTJ. It’s a weird choice but I can understand it (TFA is not going to age very good so within a few years TFA will be ranked where it belongs, i.e. with the PT). As long as you rank ANH and TESB on top and AOTC at the very bottom, you can do whatever you want with the rest of the Episodes.

I’d prefer some proof it was a error, not just George changing his mind twenty years later again.

Proof, I don’t have one. But I grew up with the OT reading the “Star Wars chronology” (the ancient basis for the UE, released in the early 90’s I guess) where the volcano duel is mentioned; so even before the 1997 SE (or the 2004 SE, the eyebrows changes not being part of the “first” SE) I was always surprised by Vader’s look: so the guy is deeply wounded, has lost his hair and has even injuries on his face and around his eyes, but he still has his eyebrows ?!? It reallly is a small change, but to me it is more aligned not only with the PT but even with TESB (I mean, look at his back head…); and don’t forget we saw this change before the release of ROTS (and I was, “hum… well, ok, good call George !” and then the celebration scene “hum… what the fuck are you doing with Hayden ?!?”). A small change, and a well done one (I don’t spot the CGI make-up). Had Lucas only done alterations like this one (to the canon I mean), people wouldn’t despise the SE so much. To sum up: I’m a semi-SE/semi-DE fan (so I watch Q2’s version of ROTJ as my canon edit).

Just to say the Rebels eyebrows have more to do with animation than anything else (it easier to read the character’s expression that way). Had it been a true OT hommage, eyebrows would have been Sebastian’s dark, not Hayden’s blonde… (it’s a “in between” hommage we can say) and remember that TCW/Rebels creator has recently defended Hayden’s ghost…
