It’s a real shame about PT:R. These were the revisited projects I was most looking forward to. They are even more broken than Jedi. Hopefully someone else will take up the mantle. There is good them, I have felt it 😊 even if Rouge One was part3 of a PT:R. So much technical talent and genuine affection from people who worked on those Star Wars misshapes. It’s a shame if they stayed as they are.

Well, if we are lucky, Disney will do a cool Darth Vader movie where we can see him chasing the remaining Jedis across the galaxy. If they do a cool movie, you can consider Rogue One as Episode 3, this Darth Vader movie as episode 2 and someone can try to edit ROTS (with maybe some (few) scenes from the episode 1 or 2) to be the first episode, removing most of it flaws. This way we can have a prequel that doesn’t contradict anything that was said in the OT.

I was hoping for a Phantom Manace revisited too. That movie could be turned into a good movie too, with some adjustments. (by removing Jar-jar, and fixing Threepio mostly)
But this discussion is for another thread I guess. (I have no idea which one though)

I do not trust Disney anymore. First they made a terribly bad, than a mediocre movie, so they are 0 for 2 right now. Im afraid a cool Disney Star Wars movie is unrealistic expectation at this point.

There is so much potential in PT:R. The PT is so broken in its current form that there are no sacred cows. And yet there are so many wonderful designs and a few nice performances just waiting to be liberated. To be frank this news is almost 1983 all over again, for me personally. Naturally I support and respect Adys decisions. A man must know his limits but it was the possibility of finally enjoying the first three episodes that really interested me much more than reworking the first two movies which are pretty much flawless anyway. At least Jedi is getting fixed. But the real problems with Jedi are the same problems the PT has. The story is lacklustre, the performances are patchy, the visuals are inconsistent. Disney will never repair the PT. Hopefully Adys achievements will inspire someone else.

I watched The Phantom Menace several times, and I think it can be fixed. Not to be great, but to be all rigth.

If only people had tried to fix TPM into something truly enjoyable… (https://ifdb.fanedit.org/star-wars-episode-i-cloak-of-deception/)

(but to make it definitive I concur that new SFX sequences and unpublished alternate scenes/takes in glorious 1080p would be necessary, in the meanwhile there are several ways to watch good takes on TPM that feel like a natural movie and not something butchered to only one saber fight…)

And since we’re talking about ewoks, is there something to do to enhance their look into a less Teddy bear appareance ? Lucas tried with eyes in 2011 and it looks good but it had not been extended toevery single scene for some reason.

On the other hand, he pretends that he doesn’t know who the Princess is in ANH. Quite a little liar when he has to !

Like Jani-wan already said !

Threepio was lying about virtually everything to Luke and his uncle in ANH, except maybe that he speeks Bocce, that the oil bath feels good, and that little doid can cause a lot trouble.

Hi, everyone :
I made for ESB REVISITED a French Audio Track AC3 640 Kbps and DTS 1509 Kbps.
You can mux the track using MKVToolNix or other MKV tools.
if anyone wants it, let me know.

That’s awesome man, PM sent !

If anyone is interested, I made a “purist” french subtitle file, closer to the original english version and with a slightly better sync to the audio track than the one which comes with the 8G mkv file (no direspect intended to the guys who made the very good french subs for Ady, I’ve just aligned my version with the other subs I’ve made for Hal’s PT and Smudger9’s TCW movie series).

The Kenobi <s>Movie</s> Show (Spoilers)
Time

And what about something new in this saga, for a change ? (really new, not a soft reboot à la TFA) Hope Ep.VIII will deliver what I wish for (i.e. being surprised in a good way). There has been 6 movies, 6 seasons of tvseries, and a very beautiful cameo in another tvseries with Ben. I thought it was time to let Kenobi in peace…

That being said, they should take Chris Lennertz to score this one. Or, if available, Chris Young.

In the scene when Luke is calling out to Leia I took it that the reason she was able to hear him was because deep down it was Luke who she truly loved not Han.

It might have been the original intention of the creative crew at that time, since Han was later supposed to die in EpVI and Luke was supposed to go looking for his sister who is not Leia.

snowspeeder…

In fact they are only called “speeder” in the movie, not “snowspeeder”.

I don’t see what’s so difficult for you to understand about that. I didn’t see you grumbling about everyone calling the ‘wampa’ the ‘wampa’, even though the creature is not named in the film itself and is only referred to as ‘Snow Creature’ in the film’s credits.

Why this sudden (and totally uncalled for) aggressivity ? Also, “grumbling” ?!? You should read more carefully so you wouldn’t misinterpret what I write that much. Anyway, keep cool guy.

Marvellous ! Revisited is so much better, I’m speechless.

Just a quick remark about the french subtitles: I wouldn’t translate “walkers” by “quadripodes impériaux”, especially since “bipodes impériaux” have now joined the party.

(and also I don’t like the bluray subs on which are based the french subs for revisited… just a question of taste, such as “dark vador” instead of “darth vader” that I cannot stand now… I’ll just synchronize my own ESB sub I made last year file to revisited 😃)

Ah Ok, the wampa, I get it now: I thought you were talking about the first attack (which is still the theatrical wampa), not the wampa lair shots (I forgot how bad looking was the theatrical version). Very good indeed ! (so seamless that I didn’t notice it was fixed as a matter of fact !).
I’ve shown to some people the battle of Hoth, they were amazed by the addition.

Just something not relevant to ESB:R but that I read often (even here on OT.com, which surprises me):

Matt.F said:
In fact, like The Force Awakens and Rogue One, Revisited is well served by going back in time and embracing physical model building and costuming.

You should watch a making of TFA and R1, you would be surprised how CGI oriented these movies are. They used the same filmmaking methods developed on the PT (minimal sets, models, props, green screens, cgi creatures, practical ships for close ups and cgi models for action scenes, etc.), except it’s more recent and shot on 35mm film (not digital à la AOTC/ROTS) with OT oriented sets so it might give a “old school” feeling which is only a feeling.

Here is an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgzxrwXHCoU
(this EXACT same way of producing the PT was used on TFA and R1. This is how LFL works, this is how any blockbuster works !)
(the only main difference is that the PT used more CGI extras, because of droid and clone armies involved)

(and I’m always shocked by this kind of misinformation, especially when praised whereas SW is a saga that contributed to make huge advanced in the field of vfx: the OT did it, the PT did it, and the new movies as well are trying to do it - CGI Tarkin for example -. This conservative state of mind for sci-fi movies is so weird, as if CGI had become a F word…).

Otherwise I agree with most (except every bit about R1 😉) of your ESB:R review 😃

I wasn’t sure at first because of a few things here and there I wasn’t convinced with, but after watching the all edit I must say I don’t only think it’s “just” an interesting take on TESB, I now do think it’s really going to become my only way to watch it from now on. Hoth battle, Bespin, the Emperor, Dagobah… I like the SE/brd additions (Wampa cave, EpIII Emperor, Vader going back to his ship) but this Revisited version is better in every way possible (without even mentioning the very nice colors). Nicely done Ady (as well as all the people who have provided help when needed), I hope you enjoyed working of this edit and I’m glad you share it with other SW enthusiasts. I’ll be sure to share it with people not familiar with fan edits as well.

SW is lucky to have such dedicated fans to improve the all saga experience. Thanks to all of you guys, you’re awesome.
