TFA: A Gentle Restructure (Released)

I agree. Thanks for stepping in to answer Mala.

No worries, I wasn’t thinking about the Leia sequence (which is indeed mandatory to “sell” the restructured version and make it feel natural) but I was referring to the attempts at Ackbar’s “all craft/ships” lines that aren’t really working for now (as Never explains it in its last comment).

Thanks for the update guys ! I agree with NeverarGreat about a v3 that could be finished for after the release of VIII (or even IX ?) if new material can make some changes better aligned (and technically less jarring) wwith the rest of the ST, but there is no hurry. We all know the theatrical cut too well to be aware of a few things that we might be overthinking. Anyway, I’ll stay tuned for the next updates 😉

I would be in favor of not “echo-ing it/radio-ing it” (don’t know how to say it 😃), since it’s a complete sentence and for sound continuity it would be less jarring to avoid toying with sound filters.

What’s the current state of this edit by the way ? I was under the impression it was near the finish line. In order to follow its progress more easily it would be cool to have a “first post update” with the current status of all the ideas implemented or in progress to be implemented.

Alien: Covenant

Ouch… Covenant is for Prometheus what Prometheus is for Alien. The worst in the series and even the worst Friday the 13th

0/10

Is Alien: Covenant a crossover with the Friday the 13th series? How is it the worst Friday the 13th?

Serious question ? Really ?!? Ok, sometimes I forget how this forum works… So it’s a joke 'cause Alien: Covenant uses the alien figure as a Jason Voorhees figure (like the couple showering that gets killed, pop music included) or the poor lady who slips (twice !) on a blood puddle with a funny sound (the sort of thing you would find in Jason X or Jason Lives). It’s a way to say despite its pretentious monologues and attempts to create something as fascinating as an Alien/Blade Runner hybrid, Covenant is as dumb as any slasher movie.

AVP aren’t real Alien movies, but are closer to be real Predator movies. Very terrible Predator movies though.

(the first AVP and Prometheus however share the same script, and both are awful…)

but when you slaughter a school full of kids, I don’t think you get to come back from that.

Yeah, I like Ep III (I know, not a very popular opinion around here…) but this scene is among those I truly dislike. Glad it’s been cut in my favorite Ep III fanedit.

What’s the source of that artwork?

I think it’s from GL Episode VII concepts.

Besides, isn’t Anakin’s story finished with ROTJ ? I wouldn’t mind seeing “young Anakin ghost” in VIII, but only as a mean to “help” Ren to go back to the light.

(someone tried something about that with Qui Gon/Vader, an idea that would have happened if the movies had been shot from EpI to EpVI I guess: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axlAcj5Lx08)

However, VIII seems to go on the path of giving a new “hindsight” about the events of Ep I to Ep VII, so… who knows about a conflicted Anakin ghost ?

The synopsis for The Last Jedi is as follows:

“In Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past. Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in U.S. theaters on December 15, 2017.”

I love it. Mysteries, adventure, revelations… could really be great. Could.

When Did The Star Wars Prequels Become Cool?

Rogue One was awful. I find it even less watchable than the other prequels, if not “worse” as a film. At least they weren’t just fucking boring. At least they were unique. At least they were memorable, with memorable moments and memorable characters. At least they actually felt like Stat Wars and didn’t feel like some generic shitty sci-fi would-be flop that just happened to have a Star Wars skin on it.

The fact that Rogue One has a terrible, rushed score from some random composer rather than a John Williams score is enough to demonstrate just how un-Star Wars this film really is. It’s dull, drab, and dreary. Star Wars films are supposed to be full of excitement, color, and life. Things Rogue One had zero of. Only thing it had less of was characters with personality, characters the audience related to and were invested in, and a story that was interesting and unpredictable. It did have a lot of cringeworthy and forced fan service though, I’ll give it that.

I don’t give a damn how “adult” the movie is, because adult movies can still suck. If anything it’s the opposite of what I look for when I watch Star Wars anyway, which is to revive the child inside me for a moment. Rogue One killed him.

… I’m speechless… I so agree with all of your post… I… can’t… resist… ahg… THIS ! (I couldn’t resist 😉)

Daisy isn’t a great voice actor in this but it was still a fun little story. I wonder if she had done VO work before.

She voiced the main character in the dub of Studio Ghibli’s ‘Only Yesterday’

A very good reason to only watch this masterpiece in its original japanese version.
