Rise of the Rebellion: A Rogue One Edit (Released)

By corrected I mean that the audio file on your bluray version is 2.0 and not 5.1. I’ve checked twice the iso file and it really is 2.0. Too bad the file can’t be less compressed ! (but I think the lack of “punch” I noticed with the current 448 kbps track is due to the absence of 4 channels).

That being said:

I made a french version […], could be possible to use its time frame to resync english subs as well (I may try that later if it’s not too much time consuming, just need to retrieve the english sub from the bluray first).

French subtitles (with further corrections made 'cause while synchronizing the english ones it appeared to me that a few lines were not properly translated. Edit: someone saw a few “last” mistakes, so it’s been corrected… for good ? 😄):

About Luke’s saber, though, after he tosses it away in front of the Emperor, we don’t see the hilt attached at his side while he’s pulling Vader to the shuttle (as you’d expect, since he did toss it away), but then it suddenly reappears at the end celebration. So which is it?

That’s a good point. Then it could be turned blue and erased from the ending shots of Luke.

Yeah but since Ady likes the new movies I can assume he’s not going to take decisions that would be inconsistent with the ST (I say “I assume”, you might know more about that I guess !). Besides so far there is no change in ANH:R and TESB:R that is inconsistent with the rest of the saga (PT/R1 included).

Like I said to DigMod, he knows better than anyone what has been cut and where (a log book of how many frames were cut could be very handy when it comes to sync subtitles). HTTF has many cuts and would be quite hard to make, but ROTR has only a dozen of things cut (and none during the last 45 minutes) that would need to resync subtitles. I made a french version (yeah I know, it’s R1 but my relatives wish a complete SW marathon before VIII and no way I wanted to watch the boring theatrical cut again. At least ROTR corrects many things from the first act which now flows better 😃), could be possible to use its time frame to resync english subs as well (I may try that later if it’s not too much time consuming, just need to retrieve the english sub from the bluray first).

This is not an idea for return of the Jedi I have an idea for revenge of the sith and attack of the clones I was going to do it for my edit but you can go right away you should add darth mual into attack of the clones and revenge of the sith use after effects and take out count dooku and then replace with darth mual use a green screen and add him in. Another idea add Anakin in the Darth Vader costume for revenge of the sith when Order 66 goes down and the battle with Obi-Wan
I was listening to Darth Vader audio I would recommend using audio from Star Wars rebels when Vader fights Ashoka
And it would take out most of the clunky audio for the final battle

Please use the proper thread.

Hell no ! It was the funniest post in a long time. A long time…

(and I’m still laughing now)

Donald Trump might struggle to understand it, but regular humans with at least double-digit IQs won’t.

I have a triple-digit IQ and I don’t like the unflipped version which is not consistent in its permanent change of side of the “narrative” movement. If the little inconsistencies of them being flipped can be fixed I say “why not”, but unflipping them is incredibly jarring. Glad Ady feels the same.

The fact is that the point of this thread is hardly about convincing others that ROTS is good or “less bad” than most people think; the main goal here is to give one’s own view of the saga and from what we like the most to what we don’t (or just “like less”). Every time someone thinks ROTS is good, there is always the same guy/bunch of guys (like an Imperialscum mirror with TFA) who come to tell us how shitty ROTS is and how mad are some people to think it’s better than TFA/R1/whatever. Every single time. I didn’t remember when I signed in there was a disclaimer about the fact that the PT was to be disliked on every post and the ST to be loved as much as the OT…
People like myself who think ROTS is better than R1/TFA have explained why on multiple occasions; everyone is entitled to their own opinion. To my point of view it is as mad to think that R1 is almost as good as ANH/TESB as it might to others to think ROTS/ROTJ are good SW entries. So it’s time for this witch hunt to stop for good. Get mature people, accept what others think even if you believe they are wrong.

General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread

You should try to watch it again. IMHO it’s the best thing that happened in the SW universe since TESB. It also provides exactly what’s missing in the PT about Anakin, Ben and the Jedi.

Han is 29 in ANH, so he’s between 7 and 10 during the Clone Wars. He’s likely to have seen a Jedi at some point (I’m pretty sure Genndy intented this little boy to be kiddo Han without confirming it, like “it’s your theory dude, think as you wish”. I need to check his commentary track about that). Han just got cynical afterwards.

After watching R1’s fanedit “Rise of the Rebellion” a few weeks ago, which cuts around 9 minutes of very tiresome material and the very embarrassing fan-service and weird “NAME THIS PLACE” cards, I’m beginning to reconsider my quite harsh 0/10 to R1 (could be a 3 or 4/10 now, don’t know yet). It’s a bad and boring movie but I’m very fond of the visuals and of the soundtrack, with lots of little good additions here and there (the whills, kyber crystal, Vader’s castle, Tarkin taking full power of the DS, etc.), and overall it looks very good and, at least visually, makes a fine transition between ROTS (which is still a good SW entry in my book) and ANH (still the best SW to date). I might then put TFA at the bottom of my ranking and put R1 just below AOTC.

So, my ranking:

  1. OT
    1.5. CW (2001-2003)
  2. PT
    2.5. TCW (2008-2014) / Rebels (2014-2018)
  3. R1
  4. ST

Rogue One was a flat out war movie.

I was surprised by the violence of the movie when I saw it again: it’s quite cartoonish as well as a matter of fact. Even when Darth kills rebels by dozens the scene is less violent than Anakin killing seperatists in ROTS. There is no bloodshed or severed limbs and most of the people getting killed are in a white suit (and they kinda die funny). R1 is far from being the “gritty war movie” everybody seems to remember.
