The Snoke special effect was particularly bad (especially when he walks). Having seen Planet of the Apes prequel part 3 a few weeks ago, the quality gap in SFX between both movies is impressive. For such an expensive movie I’m surprised (TFA also had bad effets - Maz, some cgi rocks and two Falcon shots - but in TLJ it really is an issue).

It’s true it’s very close to TESB with an entire ROTJ sequence. But during the screening I was more thinking about The Two Towers for some reasons.

Sad to see - though not surprising given some of the returning trolls on here.

All that time and effort put into something so negative and ultimately worthless (trying to influence a film score on a review site).

Pretty sure it’s constantly done to give high scores as well (but studios won’t bother checking if it’s “fake news” when they get “100%” for something as bad as John Wick). Fun part ? The 50% RT score is something I’ve witnessed in real life, with most of the people I know that found the movie very bad and a few others who like a little bit this SW flick.

Not a surprise (the following weeks are going to be more interesting… many people aren’t probably going to watch it several times like they did with TFA)

TLJ is a wonderful score. Rose’s theme is tender and beautiful, actions cues are terrific, it’s epic and intimist at the same time. For the last 40 years Jedi Master Williams is the true Guardian of the Star Wars Temple.

edit: oh I forgot the ranking… well, let’s say:

1. ANH

2-3. TESB/ROTJ

4-5. ROTS/TPM

6-7. TLJ/TFA

8. AOTC

R1 is a very good score but it’s a Giacchino score with curious unfinished nods to Star Wars themes, so I don’t count it as a Star Wars score.

It’s really a weird movie. I agree with bad reviews… and I agree as well with good reviews ! It’s fascinating.

The guy has a point of view about SW and its essence. JJ is just a (talented ?) fan boy who wants to repeat things we already know. I prefer a bad yet daring movie (VIII) to a more or less good but safe and unsurprising one (VII) (and I’m not even talking about that terrible flick called Rogue One).

Yeah, that, The Phantom Menace, Rogue One and Return of the Jedi.

It’s funny you consider the worse the 3 movies that share the most in common (and almost the same script).

Oh yeah you’re right, it was the worst of the PT into one single animated feature. Epic !

The fact Adam is - by far - the only good actor in the movie helps a lot (I love Mark but he’s not a good as expected. Not going to say anything about Daisy who is such a terrible actress I feel sorry for her). Too bad they gave him a weird and embarrassing side kick (General Bugs… heu… no… Hux !).

I’ll be interested to watch that for sure, 'cause seems very hard this time to achieve it. But with the wizards around here, might be possible.
With a 2 hours and a half (very long) running time, this movie could be massively reduced and still get an average 2 hours running time.

I’m french, don’t forget (some of our journalists even get killed for making jokes not everyone found funny, that’s how it is)

You do realize that most of the ridiculous plot issues (such as Super Leia or Deus Ex BB8) is impossible to remove without creating massive continuity issues ? (at some point you’ll have to accept that or do with the ST what most people here have done with the PT: forget it ever happened…)
