The Last Jedi: Legendary (Released)
Time

Ok then, got time to sit and watch it entirely. I’ve already given my opinion on the movie (good, not perfect, still better than all the 3 others Disney flicks), so I won’t do it again. I’m just surprised by the picture quality: the video is very noisy and very dark. Snoke’s scenes and the night island scenes are very grainy with compressed artifact all over the place. Is this the compression rate or the applied filter which causes this issue ? I don’t know, but if the color grading is to blame I would be in favor of getting a “theatrical look” version of the edit if possible. Has anyone else seen the issues I’m talking about ? On a computer screen it’s not noticeable, but on a tv screen it’s kinda obvious, unfortunately 😕

(oh and I’ve spotted 5 or 6 things I need to correct to the french subtitle file, nothing radical, minor mistakes)

No offense guys, but you were the ones who were insulting him and berating him behind his back

Dude, that’s his thread, so it was in front of him. Also, thanks to point us out the messages with insults and beratings. Pretty sure there is none of that, but show us, please.

Rey training montage etc

Which in fact shows that the Ivan guy just didn’t understand the movie he was fanediting. Which is fine, to each his own, but you just then cannot say that…

Have all been far better and less insulting than the original cut of the film.

… because no. Just no.

I think that most of us can agree that Rian Johnson performed a monumentally horrendous act in creating this film

No. JJ did that, Rian fixed some issues of the postlogy with his episode 8.

It’s important because on the Solo thread Jason made it impossible to talk about the movie with the perspective of the way it was produced by Kennedy (next step: we won’t talk about the screenwriter or the director of a movie because it’s not relevant ?You know, directors and screenwriter don’t take every single decision on a movie either…). I think it’s good to clear that.

That’s a question for Jason…although I think it’s a very silly question.

Frink, I know you want badly to give your opinion about anytthing going on, but you’re missing the target so much that I won’t waste time replying to you on this matter.

Jason, I would reply to all of your queries but I feel you should ask them first to OutboundFlight, to whom I was replying to his “Kennedy could have said no to Lucas’s crazy ideas, but keep the good ones.” statement. Given the 4 SW movies created under Kennedy (where crazy weird ideas made their way into the final products in spite of Kennedy producing), I’ve got enough proof that this very statement is wrong. Then ask OutboundFlight this question:

Ok, give me your evidence of all the times Kennedy has allowed “crazy weird ideas” to slip into production.

You’re ENTIRELY missing the point.

Just to be sure of something: each time someone makes even a slight criticism of the new SW producer, the reactions seem quite nervous to defend her. So: is it because she is a she ? I mean, do you believe “we” criticize her because she’s a woman ? And do you defend her because she’s a woman and/or because you believe that “anti-Kennedy” are all misogynist ? It’s important because on the Solo thread Jason made it impossible to talk about the movie with the perspective of the way it was produced by Kennedy (next step: we won’t talk about the screenwriter or the director of a movie because it’s not relevant ?You know, directors and screenwriter don’t take every single decision on a movie either…). The fact is that I never said that. That’s why I won’t reply to Jason, because my message is clear enough. But according to the commentary track of TLJ it seems the Leia scene is something Kennedy wanted so much.

(some people here seem to believe on the contrary that a producer just pays the bills on a set…)

Then ask OutboundFlight this question:

If you do think Kennedy is a very good President explain why, if you do think she’d be a be a good co-lead with Lucas in an imaginary situation where they are both at the head of Lucasfilm and she and George bounce ideas off each other etc, then say why.

I would add that the only guy who could challenge Lucas is, to my knowledge, Gary Kurtz. Not even Spielberg can challenge Lucas. But Kurtz did that on 3 movies he produced for Lucas.

If you sum up everything I feel this can be seen as quite fishy about this project (2.0 sound only, weird choices that aren’t likely to work, patron site, etc.)… and I don’t get why he opened a thread here if he doesn’t show up from time to time (maybe he does but since he doesn’t login or leaves replies it’s hard to tell). Perhaps we should stop posting his new videos and let him do that himself ? (for example Adywan doesn’t show up very often but he’s a long time member of the community and each time there is something new he posts the news himself in his topic)

Excellent idea that would sell the montage instantly, while providing more of the “legacy” theme contained in Episode 8 (as the twin movie of Episode 3… yeah, I insist about that, 3/8 are created as mirrors and are both very good SW movies with their own flaws and their greatness). Hearing Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Yoda (à la Revels season 4), would be great. Sadly, Ivan doesn’t seem to show up here so he might not get this brillant feedback.
