Ideas for the Revenge of the Sith Fan Edit
Time
I just hunted down the clip and ripped the audio for the scream.
You're right, the energizer scream does sound 10 times better.
The only tricky part would be isolating the scream from the music underneath it.

It's the same problem with cutting in the dialogue exchange from the Episode II trailers:
"I've heard this lesson before" "You haven't learned anything!"
The music underneath it throws everything off.

Oh, and if anyone wants a little cut footage, check out the Xbox game:
"Don't assume just because there are two of you, that you have the advantage."

Can't you just cut out the added scenes in these parts?

The cantina had replaced shots, not just added, though from what I hear above the original is in Empire of Dreams.

As for the Wampa scene, there is a shot of a shadow passing through the cave that was cut from the SE that I would like to restore.
There is also one long shot of Luke trying to free himself and then reaching out for his saber that was split into two shots and new wampa footage was inserted. 4 or five frames were cut out in between the two shots to prevent just cutting them back together.

Oh, and Sy Snootles is the singer in Jabba's palace.

I just noticed something really funny watching the G’kar Jedi SE…
In the first shot of the SE musical number panning across the floor to the dancers.
The original Sy snootles puppet is on the left side of the frame singing.
At the end of the shot, it cuts to a different area and you have new digital Sy.

Lazy editing… lazy, lazy, lazy…

It's really easily to lift the midi's line.

1. recut so Palpatine's mouth isn't showing (either a behind the back shot looking at the opera or an Anakin reaction shot) and change the line to "he could actually manipulate the force to create life."

2. cut the "creating life" line altogether to just "he could actually keep those he cared about from dying."

MagnoliaFan Edits: Ep I "Balance Of The Force", and Ep II "The Clone War" (Released)
Time
Go back and listen to it, especially if you rip just the dialogue channel and listen.
It sounds very much like Yoda is the one shouting "Nooo!", which was what I believed it was meant to be until LFL came out and said it is supposed to be Qui-Gon. At that point it became less a "deliberate creative decision"and more a half assed dub job.

MagnoliaFan Edits: Ep I "Balance Of The Force", and Ep II "The Clone War" (Released)

I have yet to see Batman.
I was supposed to see it opening night but the people I was going with flaked out.
I had expected there would be something usable within the film.

Here's a question for you guys:
Do any of you know of a film where Liam yells "No!".
I would really like to fix that "Anakin! Anakin! Noooo!" thing in II where they have Frank Oz voice the "Nooooo!" and try to claim its Liam.

If there is a link, please post, or PM or email me....corduroylover@yahoo.com
Thanks!!

What he said. How can I get a DVDr version of these edits?

The disc images haven't been torrented, and for some reason very few of the dvd-rs out there have the true 5.1.
Most have it all mixed down and then put through all speaker channels, likely re-encoded from the avis.

DVD+R DL images of them, starting with "The Clone War" are coming relatively soon.
I'm just waiting for a few parts to be completed that I subbed out to others, and I'm still deciding on special features,

I know, but I'm just talking about the films and the novelization. I'm trying not to confuse them with your version this time.

I know, I was just dropping hints as to how it will be different.

Yes, it would have made more sense for Dooku to have killed Sifo, and then order the clones under his guise. As the book goes, Sifo orders the clones himself, Dooku finds out, and then kills him.
Why on Earth Sifo would do this, and without the Council's knowledge, and where did he get his money? Stupid.

In the new version of CW, I can say that it is clear that Dooku did not order the Clones, seeing as he is not in league with Sidious. I went back and read the script for Attack of the Clones and an easy clarification of who ordered the clones lept out at me, so I restored a variation of that script element to the film and eliminated the distraction that is Syfo altogether.
Its all really quite simple... It took me less than 5 minutes to recut the varying parts needed and get it sounding right.

Like I said, I have every shot completed with windows except the one with the stormtroopers entering, if you want them.
It may make the task a bit easier.

@MagnoliaFan:
I didn't have the chance to see your ATOC edit yet, but there is somethink that bugs me:
Since in the official version Darth Tyrannus is Syfo Dias, who did order the clone army in your version?

Actually, I thought they did a really bad job clarifying who ordered the clones in II and III. It could be Sidious, it could be Dooku. Hell, I think in the books they say it was the real Syfo Dias and Mace Windu, or some screwy thing like that.
I really thought it would be made clear in III, who it was.
I had several relatives who had not seen 1 and 2, but loved 3. They went back and watched 1 and 2 afterwards and got all confused by all the unresolved plotlines they caused. I found it funny that they all think 3 works better if you've never seen 1 and 2.
Anyway, in the forthcoming Double Layer version of II (coming sooner than you may think), syfo dias no longer exists and there is a revelation to the characters onscreen as to who ordered the clones.

Oh, and when it comes to Obi-Wan blaming the Sith for killing Anakin in Ep IV...
Who better to blame if you want to motivate the kid to join your cause. He's certainly not going to tell Luke, "I cut your father's limbs off and left him to die a miserable death being burned alive and engulfed in lava."
Whether you know Anakin is Vader or not, Ben is still blatantly lying.

Info: A new edit <em>(The Lost Cut - it was a prank; but some good info in here)</em>
Time
Actually, the Lost Cut is known to exist, as writers for the Star Wars Insider were allowed to view it and write a review in an issue of the magazine, years ago.
The reason why audio cuts out on the cantina scene was that they had yet to do the ADR.
Quite a few workprints will have dead spots where sound and dialogue drops out. The first assembly of "Batman and Robin" was nearly a silent movie, as nearly every scene had to have all dialogue looped in post production.

That being said, while it does exist, I don't think this guy has it.

The Lost Cut? I seem to remember hearing about that before. I assumed it wasn't, mostly because I thought the title was for a reason and it wasn't readily available.
I've never actually seen this disk. Once I get my burner running, I could ask him to borrow it and then burn a copy and send it to you to identify it. The only problem being that the disc is probably dual-layer and I only have a single layer burner. Maybe I could put it on two discs in different parts.
Wow- had no idea it was this rare. If it's what you think it is, which I don't know. It did seem weird that the editor would degrade the picture and the effects for a new edit- maybe it was an attempt to make it look old-fashioned.
But I repeat- I haven't seen this. I don't want to get your hopes up if it turns out to be fake.

If your friend isn't lying, the editor of that cut didn't deliberately degrade the quality. The edit is 30 years old.
The edit you're describing was a rough cut assembled from black and white footage as a temp track to see what the finished film would look like. It is, in essence, the workprint of Star Wars.
If you get ahold of it, rip the disc and burn the .vobs to two dvds and pass them along to Rikter or myself. Either of us could easily reassemble the halves and make you a DL disc, share said disc with others, and be able to tell rather quickly if the disc is real or a forgery.

If so, how could you possibly miss it? I mean, you had to add the CGI to the original shot for the SEs. When you DIDN'T add it to everything else, wouldn't you begin to wonder?

When George oversees effects shots (as you can see in "The Beginning" and the EP II Behind the Scenes docs), he approves various individual shots done by different artists. He's only looking closely at the one shot, out of context.
When he later saw it all put together, he was probably so caught up in the sound mix and other things, that it blew right past him.
While they were working on III, he happened to watch ESB, caught it, and commented that they would have to fix that "next time".

Hey DE, I've got an ESB one for you...

In the SE and 04 version when Lando takes Han and Co to the banquet hall to meet Vader, there's a big bay window in the first shot walking toward the room and it vanishes in all subsequent shots.
I've completed the effects to add the window into all but one of the shots and I just can't get the last one to look right.
It's the wide angle shot where the stormtroopers first file in, I just can't seem to get it to look right.
Seeing as painting things into frame seems a bit more up your alley than mine, maybe you would be able to add the window to that last shot. I could email you the rest of the shots if you wanted, to save you the work on them.

If not, oh well, the error has come to George's attention and they're fixing it for the next release, anyway.

Help: looking for... Star Wars Ep1 and Ep2 - With Deleted Scenes Restored!
Time
Edit: Wait, didn't you do the Phantom Re-Edit? I thought this was a shorter version of the film. I will have to take a look and see my copy.

The Phantom Edit is a Re-Edit of TPM. I'm not sure if it puts in any scenes, but what it's most famous for is completely editing out Jar-Jar...

You guys are talking about THREE different edits.

- The Phantom Edit cuts out Jar Jar.

- The Phantom Re-Edit (not done by me, though I am regularly assosiated to it as it was only available in a 10th generation+ bootleg until I overlaid dvd footage on the bootleg vhs to make a watchable copy) dubs Jar Jar and cuts the film down

- The Phantom Edit 2001 version was done by a third person and just drops in deleted scenes. It was called Phantom Edit to ride on the coat tails of the original Phantom Edit.

PS: I actually made "Balance of the Force", "The Clone War", and "Fall of the Republic", a sort of 'alternate' prequel trilogy.

Info Wanted: Fixing MagnoliaFan's 'The Clone War'
Time
My dvd of it looks fine.
If I remember, this happened somewhere along the lines in the distribution.
There are also a couple different versions of it out there, as the original subtitle track wouldn't display on some dvd players and it had to be redone. There's also another version fixing a typo in the crawl.
That might be why some people have the brightness issue and others don't. There are different discs out there.
