Need help choosing soundtrack for movie.
Time
I almost forgot to mention this one.

Get yourself a copy of "A Christmas Carol" (TV Version) by Stephen Warbeck. I know it sounds crazy but that soundtrack is awesome to edit to. Go check out amazon.com and see if you can play some samples (you might not be able to). I use that soundtrack more than anything when I am editing a temp track together. I think it might be right up your alley for this particular project.

A really good score you might want to look into is the one done for "Needful Things" by Patrick Doyle. It is a really good soundtrack to a movie that I thought didn't get the credit it deserved.

For just strange music from a film you might want to look into the score to "Hellbound:Hellraiser II" and "House of a 1,000 Corpses." When I'm editing I temp stuff to those two soundtracks ALL the time.

Let us know what you used.

I have to go with bad_karma24 on this. The DC is very cool. I still don't like the movie and I still thing the original should be out there but in many cases it's a little better than the original. As for the R rating it was because the ratings were different back then. He didn't add enough to make it an R but the stuff that was in there was enough to warrant an R rating by today’s standards. The original version was rated PG and it has the love/sex scene in it. So there really isn't anything more violent or sexual in this movie that wasn't in the original.

Idea: an actual 12-hour Star Wars movie... on HD-DVD
Time
MeBeJedi your right. Back in '76 when 20th Century Fox attempted to distribute the film in the U.S., fewer than 40 theatres agreed to show it. To get more people to show it Fox said if they didn't take Star Wars they wouldn't get the right to show "The Other Side of Midnight" which was going to be a blockbuster. I think I made like 10% of what Star Wars made.

Official thread to complain about textbooks/bookstores
Time
I always hit up Amazon and eBay to pick up books. One time I picked up a woman’s literature book that was going for 350 bux at my college book store for 28 bux on eBay. It can be a pain in the ass but its still has good deals from time to time.

Seriously isn't 350 bux for a book just asking too much? Who the hell has money for that after paying to take classes? It's a little out of control if you ask me.

I'm so glad I'm done with school.

Kick-ass horror movies
Time
The original prints of Night of the Living Dead were shot on 35mm and looked very nice. If you don't already, go out and buy the Elite Entertainment version of Night. It's the best transfer you can find of this movie to date.

As for the multiple releases of this movie, it's because the movie was released without a copyright. Someone messed up and now it's a public domain movie. You could put out your own DVD of it if you so felt the need. George A. Romero has never made a dime off of that movie.

That's the Mackey fun fact of the day.
