are you sure they just used branching for these DVD's?

im pretty sure the entire opening to the fellowship of the ring was extended but not in a way that you could branch. for those who have seen the two you know what im talking about.

the theatrical starts with frodo reading against a tree... as time goes on we finally meet bilbo who's writing his book and describing hobbits..

the EE starts with bilbo writing his book and describing hobbits and then after that is all done frodo is reading against a tree...

again for those who have seen the two, you know exactly what i mean.
i just would find that hard to do by branching.

okay that there is definatly gonna hurt Sony. are they fuckin nuts?!!?
the adult film industy brings in over 8 billion dollars a year in revenue, which isnt far from mainstream hollywood movies.

that is bloody unbelievable.
and whats even worse is that they've lost a contract with Joone and Digital Playground which released some of the hottest selling DVD titles, including Pirates as well as Island Fever 4.

now this in itself is one of the dumbest moves ever.
why not adult movies? whats the difference?

If Wicked, Zero Tolerance and Vivid end up signing on with HD DVD then Blu Ray has no doubt lost the majority of the large studios.

by the way, i like the new thread title.

And about the PS hating thing. It has nothing to do with being cool to hate PS. Just because a bunch of us are of the same opinion on this matter all the Sony fanboys get their panties in a knot. If Sony suddenly takes off and becomes a popular system then it is not going to hurt me. I still like to look at the situation as a whole and to makes guesses as to what is going to happen. For the last several years this has been predictable. Sony would be at the top, followed by the Xbox, and Nintendo would hang in there because of fan loyalty and there licensed characters. This time things are different and the boxing match is getting exciting again. Just because I am not rooting for your favorite boxer doesn't mean he is going to loose, and it doesn't mean I only hate him because it is the cool thing to do. I take it the ones of you who are claiming we are only hating it because it is cool are still in High School perhaps? Well, once you get out of High School you do things not just because they are cool, but because they are reasonable or practical, or because they are what you want to do. You no longer go out and buy a $80 dollar pair of blue jeans because they will make you look cool. Now is the part where I remind you that a good number of us are not in High School any longer and don't really care if it is cool to hate Sony or not. I promise you, even if it was extremely uncool to hate Sony, I would still be of the same mindset. I really don't think Sony is going to do so well this round.


im not a Sony fanboy whatsoever. everyone knows that i think consoles are a complete waste of money and are horrible gaming systems. but thats beyond the point. i just dont like people saying, "Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft are going to do bad this year" based on poor evidence. ie. they had shortages at launch, or the system is too expensive, or they have shitty launch games. point is nobody can make a proper argument at this point in time. 2 of the 3 consoles are only 2 months old. therefore there is no reason to state an opinion at this point in time, for the simple fact that you do not have enough proof to back this up, nor even make a semi intelligible argument.

if you want to say which console you think is going to do bad, without proper proof, thats what i consider hating.
because your not proving anything nor are you backing anything up, your simply stating a negative opinion on something just because you can.

I am sorry it is such a sore spot for you, that is quite unfortunate. You see, a lot of us like to make predictions and see how far off we were. Ever made a prediction on a sporting event? You say you bet one team will win, even though the game has not begun yet thus you are basing your opinion on piss poor evidence. It is like that here. At least for my part this is how it is. I know you work at a game store, so I imagine you do get a lot of snotty little preteens saying things like "Sony sucks because it is not Nintendo" and non sense like that. But it is fun to discuss and speculate. Of course none of are feel we know the future, the whole fun of playing this game is trying to guess what the future has in store for these consoles.

To say, "I don't think the PS3 is going to do so well" doesn't need any proof or evidence. I could be wrong in this and it is nice if you come up and say, Oh I don't agree with you, it is going to do well becaused...
I know people are putting down how many consoles ship where and such stuff. The funny thing is that that does not even matter, by next year all of these console will still be on the market and nobody will be mentioning who shipped what the first weeks on the market.

Sounds like a personal issue to me. You are on a website that has a reputation of being a bunch of old SW fans who sit around and complain about George Lucas and the special editions. I don't think there is anything wrong with stating a negative opinion. Especially in a thread titled "ANIT-PS3 THREAD" in all caps. As I said about it being a personal issue, don't enter a play station bashing thread if you hate hearing play station bashing. Especially when you have to put up with it all day at work to begin with.


i totally have no problem if people are just waging a guess. thats fine. but when it comes down to a real discussion of the shortcomings of a console i just dont think people should be ill informed on them. that leads to people taking sides which i find stupid.

and this is no personal issue, its an issue of being educated before making a statement that has no truth or logic to it. people state negative feelings on George Lucas because they have sufficient grounds to do so. i'm sure not many of us would go around saying "i hate George Lucas because he's an idiot!" its pointless and makes the person sound like an idiot.

and the reason im in this thread is to play devils advocate.
plus im sure there are many hypocrits in here as we speak, who bash Sony and yet have a ton of their products in their home right now.

like who seriously makes a thread called "ANTI PS3"?

i totally agree with that statement. thats why im saying only time will tell.

to be perfectly honest im leaning towards the fact that the Wii will definatly have the upper hand. But from what ive seen at my work and talked to customers about, the majority of them anyway seem to be graphics whores for the most part, or into more adult themed gaming (see gears of war). Im thinking that will be the only downfall of the Wii. Now although they cant get past the fact of not having much eye candy i think its crucial for them to break this mould of catering towards more family oriented games and start to shake it up a little.

for example, look at Resident Evil 4 for the gamecube. Anyone who has played this game knows how much ass it kicked. It was a different spin on the survival horror genre and it worked extremely well. It even looked damn good on the system too. I'm not saying that Nintendo should start pulling out Grand Theft Auto games or things of the sort, im just saying that perhaps by catering towards more mature themed games, they would be able to keep a broader audience.

I would totally love to see Nintendo come out on top, but im just not sure if its going to have the thunder to keep gamers interested for the consoles 4 to 6 year life cycle.

They didn't say they'd ship 1 million. They said they'd ship 4 million. Worldwide. At launch. And what did they do? They shipped 400,000. To North America and Japan only. Way to go guys! Best. Launch. Ever.

It isn't 'cool' to hate Sony 'these days'. They just make it too damn easy.

every console had a shortage. but because your on top of facts like this its no wonder you never brought that up. rather it was just easier for you jump down Sony's throat because they've released a console that a) you cannot afford or b) have no use for. either way that doesnt make it an inferior product.

but im sure if you were in charge of the company you would definatly be able to handle shortages like that right?
i mean after all, rather than sending all your ideas to Sony about how they can improve their business strategy your here talking to us. why?

many consoles take a loss, and why they do that is because they know they can make the money back in accessories.
many people dont realize how much profit these companies actually make on their accessories. and considering that some people go through at least a couple controllers, not to mention batteries and memory cards, on top of the sale of games and other peripherals; i think they could care less.

on top of that i think many people are missing the point of the ps3. its not just a gaming console. Sony wants to push their Blu-ray disc, and if that means taking even more of a loss you think they're going to care if in the end it may make them billions upon billions more dollars. i think not.

all consoles will go down in price. i saw the xbox360 sell for 399 canadian a couple weeks ago.
and i dont even want to tell you how insane that is. these companies can afford to take a loss in console sales. if not then they wouldnt do it.

i wouldnt say that just yet.

in time the ps3 will drop in price and become more attractive to consumers. by the time that comes they will have time to have worked with the ps3 hardware and therefore pull out some pretty impressive games. not to mention already have a decent library of games to work with.

so in 6 months it may get better, but in a year it will be a much more popular console than some may think.

the wii on the other hand is very much limited in its capabilities. they will very much have to focus on gameplay for their audience. in a year or two the wii is going to look real bad. but that all depends on what your looking for when playing games.
