I’m sure this has been discussed at some point but let me reiterate. At the end of New Hope Han gets enough money to pay off Jabba the Hut, but in Empire he still has a price on his head. I don’t understand why he didn’t just pay off Jabba first, then meet up with the rebellion on Hoth. Is there a reason for this that I missed?

I’m pretty sure impscum can answer this.

I think the interrogation/torture scenes pretty much warrant a PG-13 rating. Someone on TheForce.net claims that in one of their viewings parents covered their kids eyes when Kylo was mind probing Rey.

Seriously if you watch he never touches Rey and he also takes his mask off changing him from a monster to a softly spoken young lad. There is nothing remotely hinting at torture in the scene. You can bet there was a version where he kept his mask on though.

He touched and violated her mind with the Force. He even made one of the most rapey statements I ever heard when he said “I can take whatever I want”.

Foot massage?

???

What messages you can take away from censoring somone with a grazed head are not only odorous but also ominous. What is the point?

Nothing. I hope they add it back. They’re marketing this as a war film so we should see some gore. I don’t want Quentin Tarantino type gore but something. If it’s okay to see Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen’s burnt corpses then it should be okay to see blood on a guy’s forehead.

There are other things like Finn saying “Hell no”, his horrific injury at the hand of Kylo Ren, Poe’s face being bloody during the interrogation scene etc. that makes it obvious why this is a PG-13 film.

You can say “Hell” and even “Damn” in a G rated film. At least one used to be able to.

It was a simpler and better time back then.

Since head canon is such a big thing here this

is the face of Vader I know to be canon. Sebastian is still in the Ewok celebration though.

That’s… an interesting thing to decide to head canon.

Thank you. My head canon also consists of Leia lying about always knowing Luke was her brother. I’m not really opposed two consenting adults who happen to be related getting it on but Luke and Leia don’t really strike me as the type to be down with that.

Thanks for that revelation yhwx…I meant why isn’t it as it is IRL?

Because it’s "The Future".

A nonsensical future that looks less futuristic than the present.

Your obsession with this is almost as embarrassing as yhwx’s, Dek’s, and impscum’s obsession with anime.

But don’t worry, I said “almost.”

To be honest I probably would have cried if you hadn’t of included the “almost”. If the future is anything like that picture I will actually cry.

Him taking off the mask is an interesting event as it could hint he knew her somehow pre TFA. I hope a version of the interrogation scene does surface when Kylo has the mask on as it would be good for the fanediting community

One thing GL did right in the prequels, he saved the Vader reveal for the end. It made a much better ending than any of the prequels before it. I think JJ might have copied him a bit when he saved the Luke reveal in Ep 7 for the end too.

Difference is JJ didn’t make 3 movies and then had Luke appear at the end only to make him look like a complete buffoon.

He managed to do the latter with only one film.

It depends on if he really went looking for the first Jedi Temple or not.

I mean seriously though, the idea that Luke and Han both were thought of as legends more than real people, and the look on Rey’s and Finn’s faces when they realized both were the people the legends said (and Han the legend was standing right in front of them) was a great part of the movie.

I agree. Had a moment like that been in the PT Rey and Finn would have given a smile or some other type of facial expression that wouldn’t have fully express admiration and astonishment and that would have been it. What could have been a joyous moment would have fell flat due to how bland human interactions are in the PT…unless it’s something goofy or angry.

As it pertains to our friend’s interesting comparison I don’t see it. At all but we can chalk it up to another one of those things Mala says to get a rise out of people.

The space battle at the end does feel like old school Star Wars though.

You mean the part where the 5 year old takes out an entire armada of ships with his nifty spinning trick? It’s a juvenile film that would be tolerable as a juvenile film without Jar Jar and the Gungans. Those guys just make it entirely unwatchable.

Gonna have to agree with you here. The lightsaber battle was the best thing of this part—it is pretty nifty.

And even that is shit

I disagree.

Watch the video. Not only is the “fight” more like a dance but the choreography doesn’t make any sense. Say what you will about the OT duels but at least the choreography in ESB and ROTJ were actually reminiscent of people fighting. And that goes doubly for TFA.

I would say that applies a lot more to ep. II and III. The OT duels feel like real fighting, TPM feel like slightly exaggerated fighting, and AOTC and ROTS just feel like glow-stick ballets.

This feels a heck of a lot more genuine than this.

(I mean seriously, what the heck are they doing in the ROTS click? At least in the TPM fight you feel like Obi-Wan wants ro actually hurt Maul rather than just showing off his lightsaber swirling skills. I especially like his little blind swipe at Maul as he runs away. That feel very genuine too me.)

To a certain extent I agree with you due to the entire Mustafar Fight taking the principles in the Duel of The Fates at taking them to the highest extreme possible.

I still like it, so I reiterate:

I disagree.

It’s still pretty to look at I guess but that’s all I’ll give it.
