Seeing Dunkirk this Friday. I’m curious to see how a PG13 War movie directed by Nolan turns out.

No posters matter.
Especially teaser posters I guess…The official poster is only going to serve to piss me off as it’s not going to deviate from the rest at all. I wouldn’t mind if Rian shook things up in this department too and gave us a unique poster.
This is the only poster that matters.
War For The Planet of The Apes - 8/10
Dope
Makes more sense that the beings like the Emperor are the only ones powerful enough to weild it, which makes him getting deformed by it in III even more stupid.
FTFY
The synopsis for The Last Jedi is as follows:
“In Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past. Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in U.S. theaters on December 15, 2017.”
Kind of pissed we didn’t get to see The Knights of Ren though.
I suspect that training clip with Daisy defending herself against several enemies at once is KoR-related. It is indeed a bummer we didn’t see them in costume, though.
Considering there are multiple assailants in the part where Adam is training he could be fighting the KoR as well.
I’m loving how they’re still pushing that TLJ will be a bold film that will usher in new concepts and that it will delve deeper into the characters both old and new. Kind of pissed we didn’t get to see The Knights of Ren though.
Most do. It would be weird if Vader could conjure Force Lightning but is rendered useless when someone uses it on him. Doesn’t make much sense to me.
In an ideal PT Maul shouldn’t have used light sabers either
…Why?
Not even The Force is immune to plot contrivances.
I am conflicted
on one hand giving palpatine no lightsaber makes palpatine seem like a dark wizard…and fantasy inspired star wars is the best star wars ever
on the other hand giving palpatine no lightsaber would open a pandoras box of force unleashed-esque force abilities that would get ridiculous
Nothing is ridiculous when it comes to The Force. If destroying a planet is nothing compared to the power of The Force then everything in the Force Unleashed is essentially child’s play. KOTOR II would be a better example, but then again there should still be more powerful Force Abilities if what Lord Vader is to be taken at his word.
You can jump right into Homecoming with the films you have seen. There’ll be some vague references to events outside of it but they don’t affect the plot. If, however, you do want to start with Spider-man’s first appearance. I would highly recommend watching the Captain America trilogy. Some find the first film a little too cheesy (I loved it) but it sets the foundation for Winter Soldier and Civil War which are entirely different beasts and some of the best films in the MCU.
As long as it’s not 60’s Batman type cheese I can handle it. Also, seeing something so different than what I’m used to can give me a new perspective on Superhero flicks and I’m going to watch it for that reason alone. The only thing that sucks is that I’m running through Breaking Bad again and that’s taking up most of my time outside of work so this is someting I’m going to have to push aside for the time being.
Fuck
I’m digging the design of the Praetorian Guards but why do they gotta be red? That’s just inviting half baked comparisons. Admittedly Snoke having guards was going to invite them anyway but there’s no need to give the naysayers something genuine to bitch about.
I am absolutely loving the look of the Heavy Scout Walker. Hopefully they’re used better than AT-STs were in the OT
How much of the MCU must one view before watching Homecoming? I’ve only seen Iron Man, Iron Man 3 and The Avengers.
Rogue One was awful. I find it even less watchable than the other prequels, if not “worse” as a film. At least they weren’t just fucking boring. At least they were unique. At least they were memorable, with memorable moments and memorable characters. At least they actually felt like Stat Wars and didn’t feel like some generic shitty sci-fi would-be flop that just happened to have a Star Wars skin on it.
The fact that Rogue One has a terrible, rushed score from some random composer rather than a John Williams score is enough to demonstrate just how un-Star Wars this film really is. It’s dull, drab, and dreary. Star Wars films are supposed to be full of excitement, color, and life. Things Rogue One had zero of. Only thing it had less of was characters with personality, characters the audience related to and were invested in, and a story that was interesting and unpredictable. It did have a lot of cringeworthy and forced fan service though, I’ll give it that.
I don’t give a damn how “adult” the movie is, because adult movies can still suck. If anything it’s the opposite of what I look for when I watch Star Wars anyway, which is to revive the child inside me for a moment. Rogue One killed him.
I’m glad you didn’t like this movie…because no one worth their salt would ever compare rogue one with the star wars prequels and say the prequels are better in anyway
Damn
The PT had better soundtracks but Rogue One crushes them in every other facet though.
I realized I couldn’t binge the shit like I’m accustomed to.
I misread this as “I realized I couldn’t bring the shit like I’m accustomed to” which is of course what happens as you get older.
Misreading things or not being able to bring “the shit”? I can imagine drug dealers saying something similar when the block is hot.

I’m going to admit that I’m not particularly fond of this complete dismissal of Rogue One’s fundamental problems as it pertains to film making and storytelling because the film is grittier than the others. That kind of thinking usually falls apart when you think about the movies in retrospect…
Even though Season Two of Stranger Things dropping a day before my birthday is dope, I much prefer them dropping it on a Friday. The Halloween gimmick lost it’s appeal the millisecond I realized I couldn’t binge the shit like I’m accustomed to.
EDIT:
I need this.
The only thing I can’t see LF doing is a small scale conflict as there’s just too much coin to be made to just abandon the idea of going back a thousand years or so.
We need new conflicts with new factions that have different ideologies. I want any the nature of these conflicts to go beyond the whole “good and evil” thing so that warring philosophies (both being valid in their own ways) are the reason for all the death in the Galaxy.
