The excellent story. The twists and turns that have not even been revealed in spite of all that has been exposed in the months leading up to last night’s premier. The fact that all expectations were exceeded and that…it was better than TFA.

The rest of this however has me excited as TFA’s plot while good certainly wasn’t anywhere near ESB in terms of how strong or deep it was. If Rogue One could come come close to ESB it would be more than miraculous. The twist and turns thing is only very exciting as I was going into Rogue One expecting it to be straightforward and predictable. Something that TFA unfortunately suffers from.

But let’s not get caught up in early reviews because I remember BvS and Suicide Squads early reviews being good too.

I don’t understand the buzz around Rey’s parents: I really don’t give a shit about her parents. Have we met Obi-Wan’s parents ? Yoda’s ? Han’s ? Chewie’s ?

The difference is that these characters weren’t abandoned on a desert planet as a child (or even older if had her mind wiped) and above all that’s why people want to know who they are. I think people want to know why they abandoned her and why they never came back. And Rey as a character deserves to know who they are. All of her suffering on Jakku would have been for nothing if she doesn’t find out who her parents are.

Other than the universe shrinking aspect Rey being a Kenobi would be kind of cool and poetic. I definitely prefer it over her being another Skywalker.

Plus having Ben have a kid is the perfect excuse to abolish the whole “no attachments” nonsense.

I don’t know but if it isn’t it certainly looks like what I imagined the final chapter to be. But If they can ascend to further heights in another sequel I say go for it. As long as it doesn’t get to Transformers type of nonsensical action I’m down for the ride.

Reading the OP gave me the first genuine yearning to look at Star Wars (excluding Rogue One of course) in months.

It also sounds like the name of a shitty fan film which admittedly is what I thought about Episode VII’s title being The Force Awakens until I actually saw the film. The title makes sense to me now and I’m fine with it now.
