I’m sorry but anyone who watched OT Yoda should recognize that he would never, ever own a lightsaber, let alone use one.

I take issue with this statement as I can see a Yoda in his 20-200’s using one but after mastering the more overtly destructive and esoteric parts of the Force he discovers that a true Jedi Master need not use a man crafted item for the Force was the only ally he truly needed. As great as he is Yoda wasn’t born the Jedi Master we all know and respect.

I can’t wait for season 2 of Stranger Things.

Same. From what I’ve heard the story seems like it will be a natural progression of the story we got in Season 1 and I couldn’t be happier. I’m still worried that they might have let the success of the show cloud their judgement in certain aspects but they’re already thinking about Season 3 and beyond which means they were probably thinking about Season 2 while writing the first Season. That’s pretty endearing imo

The first Batman v Bane fight in TDKR was grueling to watch from an emotional standpoint. It makes Vader’s domination of Luke during their duel on Bespin look almost infantile in comparison. Reason being is that even though Batman was out of his prime he was still a very capable combatant as showcased moments before and to not only have him broken but belittled during their fight illustrated how deep in shit Batman was. All of the tricks he used on the uninitiated were either nullified or used against him and even before he resorted to using smoke bombs and the shadows he knew he was beaten. That primal yell he let out towards the middle of the fight conveys a stronger message than words ever could. To cap it all off shortly there after Bane reveals he is there to fulfill Ra’s Al Ghul’s destiny which at that stage in the fight much have exacerbated the impending dread 1000 fold. Not only does he have to deal with the reality of inexorable death he now knows the same man will bring death to millions of innocents and there’s nothing he can do about it as he was already near the limits of his durability. It was pretty heartbreaking to see Bruce to go through that but that along with his failures escaping it made his ascendancy a standout moment in a great trilogy.

Bane was not uninitiated though.

Exactly. Theatricality and deception were ineffective against him which made him a great foil to Batman. That’s not even including them both being master strategists which is something else that makes them great foils to each other.

Why is this still happening?

 1. Spammers/trolls remain unpunished

 2. The ignore feature hasn’t been brought back

I need the latter to go into effect because I literally have no sense of self control.

Lol, I’m a troll now?

Nnnnoooo???

EDIT:

Holy shit I meant this for Impscum in a completely different thread. I am so sorry lol

There’s nothing cool about the Dragon Ball Universe.

…People transform into giant fucking apes in DB. If that’s not cool then I don’t know what is.

Shit is boring.

In general the show is boring but the giant apes thing is awesome. Anyone who disagrees clearly doesn’t like giant apes as much as they should.

Giant apes are fine, it’s the “people transforming into them” that’s stupid.

I’m pretty sure you’re fine with people transforming into other things in general

citation needed

It’s an assumption. Depending on the genre most people are okay with something/one undergoing a transformation if it’s executed right. It’s easy to now assume you’re not one of these people.

Please don’t so I have a legitimate reason to ignore you when they come out.

You have a legitimate reason to ignore him whether he sees them or not.

There’s really no difference anyway as all he does is rehash other people’s arguments.

The truth is not anyone’s argument…

Your whole truth shtick doesn’t work here as I have fact checked you on numerous occasions. The more opinionated topics are a different matter.

Why? I’m pretty sure you’re fine with people transforming into other things in general so why is this so much different? Especially when you’re already cool with the concepts of giant apes.

Rogue One * Spoilers * Thread
Time

And it’s largely a success, a solid, enjoyable film that takes some risks with the Star Wars universe while also remaining, to an extent, on familiar ground. If it’s not a great movie - perhaps not even a great Star Wars movie, but a very good one - it’s because it still relies to some degree on fan service and because it lets down its characters in a fundamental way. But it’s also a fascinating look at this enormously popular and detailed universe from a slightly different angle, its humor is tinged with bitterness and cynicism, and it’s also - as promised by director Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) - a war film, even if some of the themes associated with that don’t get anything more than a passing look. Plus it builds to one of the best third acts in the entire franchise, a 40-minute rollercoaster that twists from sheer excitement to grief to victory to hope. - some Den of Geek Reviewer

Whoever this person may be he/she perfectly states my view on Rogue One.

As for Force Awakens, that’s in limbo. Will wait to see his this new trilogy holds up as a whole.

That’s a pretty smart stance imo

If VIII and IX end up sucking I’ll probably end up putting the ST out of my personal canon so that I may reinsert the Thrawn Trilogy.

RE# ended up sucking and basically already stained the whole ST.

That’s the stupidest shit I’ve ever heard. The PT would have been looked upon with favor if AOTC and ROTS were good films and we all know it. We would have seen TPM as a bumpy start to a good - amazing trilogy and the one you have to sit through to get to the good stuff. And to me ROTJ is a huge drop in quality in comparison to SW and ESB but the OT in it’s totality still works for me. You’re just looking for an excuse to hate the ST. No matter how good VIII or IX could be all you’ll be saying is that you think TFA sucks instead of judging the films based on their own merit.

The thing about the trilogy concept is that the setting and the story continue and characters remain the same. I did not like the setting and the story (rehash crap) and I did not like characters. These things will not just magically disappear in VIII and IX.

Though you can’t really convey your grievances in a satisfactory manner (mostly due to a lack of knowledge of the source material) I feel you.

And I am not just an grumpy old OT fan either. I loved R1 because it was actually good. RE# on the other hand was unfortunately crap.

Rogue One was good; that we can agree on. Though to the degree in which it was good and the reasons why we thought it was good are likely different.

I’m screenshotting this for when such a time arises so I can shove it right back in your face.

I am not sure what would be trying to achieve? I might not even see VIII and IX. And even if I will, they will be strongly tied to what RE# introduced, so the probability of me actually liking them is rather low.

Please don’t so I have a legitimate reason to ignore you when they come out.
