Probably because the lightsaber duels were so epic and because ROTS was so dark.

Ghibili has outdone himself yet again.

The Last Crusade wasn’t as good as Raiders thus it’s empirically a shit movie.

“There are no shortcomings” sounds like an opinion you’re stating as factual too. Unlike you however I can actually defend my viewpoint.

It’s times like this that I’m glad I only got into the OT at 16.

You’d have to ignore a lot of shortcomings to come to such a conclusion. Such as:

• Ewoks and the effect they have on the pacing
• Ewoks (somehow) being instrumental in the Battle of Endor
• Luke going back to Degobah to “complete” his training but then is told he already knows what he needs so that Yoda can have a forced death scene
• Not getting an explanation as to how Luke got so powerful between ESB and ROTJ without finishing his training
• Making Ben into a liar and attempting to justify said lying
• Luke finds out Leia is his sister out of no where
• Leia being Luke’s sister is not only gross but it creates a plot hole in STAR WARS because how could Vader not sense she was Force Sensitive when he tortured her?
• Death Star rehash that’s way more overt than Star Killer Base
• Luke’s “temptation” is only Palpatine saying “Your friends are going to die”

Do I even need to continue?

TFA has it’s fair share of problems but a lot of them aren’t surface layer stuff like in ROTJ and a lot of the complaints I’ve heard about the film were from people who were nitpicking or didn’t understand the film at all.

It’s in the ANH ball park…kind of but ESB? Absolutely not. ESB is a nearly flawless film and ROTJ has a multitude of issues that prevents it from even being great. Putting those two on the same level is blasphemous.

I agree that Keaton had a better costume and voice but he didn’t look like Batman, he wasn’t in Batman shape and he didn’t have the screen presence that Bale did. If I were a criminal I would not want to encounter Bale’s Batman. I wouldn’t want to encounter Keaton’s either but I would see him as less of a threat.

And now Ben Affleck is making them both look like shit.

But I still don’t count some of those movies as being anything more than good. And I definitely won’t put something like The Mummy on the same level as any of TDK films.

The thread is not about what movies you deem the best. A lot of those have sentimental value more than anything.

And in turn that makes you the most unique and interesting person in the room 😄
