I can live with that as long as it means I don’t have to play basketball.

‘Basketball’ in my analogy essentially encompasses everything one can do with the physical form. The bit about intelligence is more similar to the subject of Force Sensitivity.

Another thought I just had is that Politics consumed Leia’s life. Not only did she forsake her Force Sensitivity but she also couldn’t spend enough time with Ben. She could have feasibly maintained one of these aspects of her life but for some reason Disney thought detachment from her personal life was the way to go.

How dare you, R1-lovers, miss the glaring fact that K2SO is… Mary Sue.
Are you blind?

He pilots and fights like Chewbacca, hacks computers like R2D2 and talks like C-3PO.
He’s strong, handsome, eloquent… nice voice BTW.

Maaary Suuuuue

😉

He also doesn’t make ONE mistake in the film. Mary Sue!

Leia’s first lightsaber?

Yet another reason I ignore the EU.

So would you have preferred her to rely solely on Force Abilities or not be trained at all?

I read the Darth Plagueis novel, and didn’t come away thinking of him as an all time great, nor his master. They certainly don’t match up to people like Vader or Revan.

Plagueis was a true Sith; never in his life had he considered betraying the Sith so Vader shouldn’t be in this conversation. Being a Sith is far more than using the Dark Side; it’s being committed to it until the last sliver of life leaves a Sith’s body. As for Revan he has more feats under his belt and may be a slightly more interesting character but Plagueis is superior in terms of his knowledge of the Dark Side (and other esoteric facets of the Force via his midichlorian manipulation) and he did far more for the Sith Order in terms of ensuring their dominance over the Galaxy. There’s not enough of Tenebrous to really even render judgement on him.

Sorry, I thought you were basing your “all time great” thing on them as characters. In that respect, I found both Plagueis and Tenebrous very mediocre.

I found Plagueis’ musings to be interesting and I was also interested by his quest for immortality and how his obsession with it affected him. Other than that there’s not much to say other than his backstory is pretty cool imo.

Darth Bane too.

Darth Bane bites a guys thumb off within the first 10 or so pages of Path of Destruction…but ok. The sabacc scene was long but the clashing of ideals was interesting to read and established that Bane’s surroundings was already molding him to a being with philosophies that are akin to the Sith’s. And from there the plot really gets moving. To each their own I guess.

Eh, regarding the scene in R1, Vader clearly brings troops with him. Its evidenced by both his line about preparing a boarding party and the fact that Stormtroopers show up next to him as they watch the Tantive IV fly away. As to why he takes on the rebels single handedly? Perhaps he had his team split up to search the ship faster and he just happened to be the one who found them first. He didn’t really have time to wait for backup. It’s an entirely different scenario than the opening of Star Wars where he’s cornered and captured the ship and can take his time letting the troops storm it.

Neither was the writing for Rogue One… heh

I agree; more spectacle than substance with that one. As to my original point, with good writing a post ROTS Vader film could be very good as there is more than enough there in terms of character stuff. Plus we would get to see Vader kill Jedi…I mean come on.

Rogue One’s Vader is the kind of Vader I expect in the timeline closer to RotS. It’s too jarring to see nimble Vader so close to ANH. But I mean, I wouldn’t mind a Vader film around that timeline, hunting Jedi.

Using one handed blade work isn’t being nimble; jumping all over the place and running swiftly is being nimble as far as the dictionary is concerned.

You’re right.
Fluid would be the better word.

I would probably agree with you if we had a scene of slaughtering Rebels in the OT. Such a scene would have been shot in a completely different from the Vader vs Ben duel for a myriad of reasons. The most pertinent of which is that you don’t have to develop the choreography around Sir Alec Guinness.

That’s an interesting opinion…I’m more worried about Joyce character going forwards than Winona as an actress. I don’t see much growth to be had with her unlike the rest of the characters and outside of Season One she isn’t essential for the overall plot of the series to move forward.

Well, it’s possible that my problem was more with the character than her performance.

With her mental state being what it was we never got to see what “normal” Joyce was like prior to Will vanishing and only got to see glimpses of her being normal in a couple of flashbacks. I’m not sure exactly how Season Two is going to pan out but they can certainly flesh her out a bit more and show a different…less jittery side of Joyce.
