Alan Dean Foster Books?

As for SOTME, I found it interesting from a historical perspective; what with being the potential sequel and all.  But ultimately I didn't care for the story.  It felt too "late 70's/early 80's fantasy cartoon"-ish to me, if that makes any sense.  It's been a few years since I've read it, though, and I only have vague, generalized memories from it.  I do remember thinking some parts were cool though.  Maybe I should give it another go sometime...

Same here. I should read it again. I liked it, though, but the whole plot seems a little weird and of course it doesn't have anything to do with later stuff. But it was entertaining and a good read.

I've also read SW and it's basically the early SW script with deleted scenes before they were deleted. Nothing special, to me at least.

I'm loving the teamwork going on here!
It takes a team to wrap our minds around all of the different versions. I just can't believe we're the first to notice the "there one version, gone the next" scanlines. Not having scan lines in one version I can kind of understand.

This I don't. The scanlines are going in the complete opposite direction!

Also the 2004 shot seems to be zoomed out, didn't find that on your descriptions. Weird.

Discussion about other movies?
Time

I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in talking about other movies than SW in general, like new BD releases and how they compare previous releases and possible revisionism in them, up-coming movies etc. There are some threads in Off Topic section but that's full of other crap, too. So I'm suggesting a new forum for that if there's interest...

Star Wars DVD Covers

 Are these Finnish covers?  Cool.

BTW, I hear it isn't very common to do Finnish dubs of films outside Finland except if the film is for younger audiences.  Would that be right?

Yes they are. Thanks. :)

And yes, you are right. We have subtitles in our films. Thank goodness! Except for younger audiences like cartoons but usually they also have the original English versions in bigger movie theaters.

When was the last time you actually watched a prequel? (Or: Revenge of the Sith still blows.)
Time

Last prequel I watched was TPM on VHS that I bought but that was just checking if the tape was fine, I really don't remember actually seeing the film, LOL. I'm not even sure when it was, this year or last year.

I haven't seen AOTC in at least two years and I watched ROTS on Christmas two years ago when it was on TV. I hope these will be the last time I ever saw them.

Would anyone want to see more star wars movies if they were made ?

Hmm.  It's been two years since The Clone Wars movie.  I never saw that, and I have no desire to ever see it, so I guess I wouldn't be far off in saying, "No."

I wasn't interested in that, either, and I couldn't care less about those kind of movies but still if done right some SW movies could be interesting.

Why we hate the prequels at OT forum.
Time

Why I hate the prequels most is that they are taking the credit away from the OT. Meaning the OT takes all the crap because of it, I'm fed up with the SEs and constant changing, and I think the popularity of SW is going down because of them. Also there was a time when pretty much everyone loved SW but now if I was to say that I like SW I have to make clear that I'm only talking about the originals. I could care less about the prequels themselves, I can always not watch them and I'm doing just that.

What we like about the Prequels
Time

Episode I

  • Darth Maul was a cool character, too bad he was there just to be killed.
  • Liam Neeson
  • Duel of the Fates (as in the score and the duel)

Episode II

  • Obi-Wan's adventures
  • Coruscant underworld (which was too short and it could've been more darker like in Jedi Knight or KotOR games)
  • Seismic charges

Episode III

  • The scene with Padmé and Anakin on Coruscant with just music
  • Beginning of the final duel before they went lava surfing
  • Ewan McGregor
