What is/was the best SW Game ever, on any platform?
Time

My top4:

 1. Knight of the Old Republic
 2. X-Wing Alliance
 3. TIE Fighter
 4. Dark Forces: Jedi Knight

Then it becomes a little harder to say since there are many solid games... Honorable mentions go to X-Wing, Jedi Outcast, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, Dark Forces, Rogue Squadron, Rebel Commando, Galactic Battlegrounds and the fun Lego SW: OT. Rebel Assaults were also enjoyable as a kid, especially the second one, but they aren't that great in a game-sense.

I own all SW games (not related to PT) up until Galactic Battlegrounds, which was released in 2001 I think. The few I haven't been able to complete are unfortunately XW and TF, still being stuck on those. I don't think I've finished Dark Forces either, a very good and dark game like most from the early 90s. One is also SotE, I don't remember what level it was but to me it was pretty boring and quite hard. I remember fighting IG-88 which was damn difficult, then Dash dropped inside a rock and I probably defeated him from shooting there... Not a very well made game. Rebellion is also one of my unfinished games, I think it's a very interesting and challenging game but I have not yet succeeded in winning, it just kills the motivation after dozens of times.

General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread

A somewhat similar situation I've seen is a bottle machine here which shows an animation how to put the empties to the shaft. It has an Episode I 3PO 7UP bottle which to me is cool. I've seen those kind of machines only in one store (so I don't know if the animation is the same in all similar machines) but that wasn't even built until probably 2004. Some SW fan probably wanted to use that old image.

Hello

Am making a quiz for some friends and need a Star Wars question. It should be a matter where 4-5 friends can talk about the film (Episode 3 to 6) and find the answer. So not just trivia knowledge where you either know or don’t know it.

I have previous had these to questions.

In how many different systems is Star Wars - A New Hope going on in?

1: 1
2: 2
3: 3
4: 4
5: 6

3

Bonus question:
What / which system / systems is this?

Tatooine, Alderaan, and Yavin.

Do I get a prize? ;)

No. There are 4 systems, one is unknown where Death Star is before going to Alderaan system. Also that's a trick question, there is no "A New Hope".

A New direction for Lucasfilm Animation

I'm just glad the focus is shifting away from the Clone Wars era that began in Episode II. After a decade of watching Republic clones vs Separatist droids, I feel like it has played itself out. It's time for something a little different...

Seconded. Finally we can put those lame wars to rest and explore something new. Also, this isn't a surprise really now that they're making sequels. Prequels need to be forgotten, they're yesterday's news now and Disney seems to get it.

LEC games: X-Wing, TIE Fighter...
Time

These games are best SW games there is. Even though I'm a huge TIE Fighter fan I think XWA beats it with its story. I think it's the last SW thing that really captures the OT feel.

I think XWA is the only game from these that I've even finished. Don't remember XvT though, that was a little disappointing as far as story goes, but Balance of Power helped on that aspect. XvT is also pretty forgettable, as it seems. XW is damn hard. When you're making attempt #50 it's a real motivation killer. And you always get imprisoned by the Empire, LOL. I'm stuck on some mission that I started like five years ago and then I stopped playing it, again (maybe third or fourth time). IIRC, it was a mission with many transports flying in a wide formation. I think I'm stuck on TF, too, LOL. When I have time I have to try finish these.

I said to George that I wanted to go back to the way it was, in the sense that ours was much more carefree and lighthearted and humorous – in my opinion, anyway....hope they find the right balance of CGI with practical effects. I love props, I love models, miniatures, matte paintings -- I'm sort of old school. I think if you go too far in the direction of CGI it winds up looking like just a giant a video game, and that's unfortunate. … If they listen to me at all, it'll be, 'Lighten up and go retro with the way it looks.'

It's good to know that he thinks like we do.

Indeed. I hope he'll have some power with the movies, he's f'ing Luke Skywalker. "Do it like this or you don't get Luke."

J.J. Abrams Will Direct, Now Who Will Score?

I'm surprised by the amount of dislike towards the PT scores. They are the only thing in the PT I can hold at an equal level with the OT. I admit AOTC was the most forgettable, except for the love theme. I think some of the hate on how the rest of the movies played out gets unfairly mixed with the score. If you can detach yourself from everything that happened in the PT they are quite enjoyable on their own.

Of course I would love to see John Williams involved, but I know he is getting old. Hopefully he can make it to the end of the ST. Williams also isn't in his prime anymore. I think I'd like it best if he collaborated with another younger composer who could take the reigns for all Star Wars movies in the future. Michael Giacchino would be an excellent choice. I've enjoyed all his work, in particular Star Trek.

Well, I mean, they're fine. But when you listen to the OT scores, more specifically SW and TESB, you can really just follow the movie just by listening to the soundtracks. They're epic, they really tell the story by themselves. PT music is more like background music, it has its moments but otherwise it's almost forgettable. Also the scores got terribly cut for the films.
