Those metal rings covering half the cover were a huge mistake when the BDs started, what were they thinking?

I’m still disappointed that it’s not titled The Lost Park: Jurassic World.
Stealing my posts, huh? https://originaltrilogy.com/post/id/1185986
Since my favorite movie after the OT is Jurassic Park, I thought it would certainly need a thread of its own. Unfortunately its every sequel is worse than its precedessor… I just saw JW: TFK and it was the worst movie I’ve seen on screen since Man of Steel. Luckily it was half price but if I didn’t pay for it or it was on TV, I would’ve stopped watching. A disgrace for the franchise.
They’ve also released the others on 4K, has anyone bought those yet?
The first Halloween poster is so clever and just artistic perfection. However I do not get Halloween II poster at all, for me it doesn’t make any sense. I mean, the image is okay but compared to the first one it lacks all the cleverness which it still tries to somehow have.
Has there been mentioned anywhere why DS II is always showed in the same angle in ROTJ? They built the full model but in every full shot it’s always exactly the same position. Did they even have video of it or is it just a single shot in front of a blue screen?
It’s not always shown from exactly the same angle…
Okay, except in one shot. 😛
Actually, that seems kind of interesting. I would love to see those stories, hopefully one day in some other form.
Well, you know Disney do already own a similar property… look out for this in Summer 2025… HONEY, I SHRUNK THE JEDI.
More like Inner Outer Space.

Fascinating times! 😃
Beautiful print. I hope you store it during and after the preservation in the same cold conditions. 😃
It’s a movie, so I don’t care how it’s spelled.
CHEWBAKAspelledwrong
Figures.
I hate the name “Qi’ra”.
They should’ve spelled it Kira. Wasn’t Kira supposed to be Luke’s original sister or something at some point. Anyways, I think Kira is a pretty name. Qi’ra is just unnecessary.
I’ve tried to get the 4K version running on MPC-HC with madVR, but whatever I do, I get really choppy playback. Any pointers, or should I just download the 1080p version?
I’ve got a new 4K TV I’d love to play this on, and although it’s being said there is little difference between the two, I’d love to watch it in its native resolution.
What are your computer specs?
Windows 8.1
CPU: Intel 8-core i7-4710HQ @ 2.50 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M
HDD: 1TB HGST HTS721010A9E630
RAM: 12 GBIt is a laptop, as well. Is it my GPU?
I believe so. I don’t think it supports hardware accelerated HEVC playback.
Yikes.

Grab mkvtoolnix and remux the file, other people have had success with smoother playback after doing that.
I’ll try this, thanks!
Also try MPV player. MPC stuttered on me but MPV played the file fine.
Some of my favorite Blu-ray releases are just clean 2K scans with minimal cleanup. Verhoeven’s RoboCop and Total Recall remasters look amazing.
Have they remastered Total Recall too? If yes then that has gone by me completely.
Since they’ve already done a 4K remaster for RoboCop BD release, hopefully they release it on 4K soon too!
Not only concerning about video, but I like to have original audio too. It seems all too often that an older film needs to have Atmos to get 5 stars in audio department, but I’d be more happy to have an original DTS or even stereo or mono mix in there, or at least a faithful adaption to 5.1 (unlike e.g. The Terminator). And even though it may get overboard sometimes here, I still respect their opinion and I know there is a lot of knowledge on this site that many online reviewer doesn’t share.
Die Hard BD was pretty poor but it also has gotten supposedly a great representation in 4K. Hopefully the sequels are arriving soon with similar care.
Edit: and also, the basic idea for this thread was to know what would be the go-to version to get the most authentic viewing experience if a new 4K version has been released. Is it the 4K, the previous BD, or any fan preservation of sorts. For example I only watch T1 and T2 from my preservation files since both BDs were botched.
Blu-ray.com is my go to for reviews of new home video releases.
Many BD releases have gotten good video/audio reviews, like Jurassic Park, 007 films, Back to the Future etc. but on this forum people have had a different opinion as they have older releases and possibly even original audio tracks or film reels to make their point.
Has anyone here watched The Matrix for example? There’s a preservation going on, or is it anymore relevant? I’d like to see an official release put an end to fan preservation needs and just deliver an authentic product.
This year has seen new 4K releases for The Matrix, Jurassic Park trilogy and others. Since there are many preservations going around, has anyone here picked these up and how do they compare to theatrical releases? The Matrix at least should be closer to the original version.
According to Wikipedia ILM did do the crawls in other languages, but it doesn’t say anything about Swedish specifically or which films they did translations for.
They translated crawls for “main” markets that dubbed the film. Countries that used subtitles also had subtitles during the crawl. Sweden belongs to the latter group.
The SEs were released in theatres in Nordic countries.
DVD and BD technology enabled CGI crawls for different languages - none of them is theatrical, maybe not even the English ones?

Solo trailer with Kinect Star Wars “I’m Han Solo” song
I haven’t played Kinect or heard this song but for some crazy reason this mashup works, LOL.
The rest gets more difficult since it’s been years since I listened the PT and I’ve only listened once TLJ.
I was pretty surprised about Solo being completely out of spoilers so I didn’t even know who wrote the music until after I saw it. It’s a very nice listen with memorable themes and not just loud noises. At the same time it felt fresh and new but still fitting to the SW world.
H_h, I didn’t understand almost anything, but I love your work and I trust you more than anyone at LFL. Sounds like a lot of work and you’re definately the right guy for the sound department, kudos!
AH ! These are the droids I was looking for…http://www.rebelscum.com/comicbooks.asp and here is the international gallery…http://www.rebelscum.com/marvelcomics12.asp
Neat.
Its interesting to see the Finish gallery. Apart from the text, they’re the exact same issues that I have in my collection of Norwegian comics.
We might have discussed this, but Denmark sent all the stories across the Nordics and the publisher in Finland had no idea what numbers they were nor how many there are in total or in what order they were originally released. And it all ended with a complete surprise in the last number. Sweden got at least one extra story. It seems that at least Finland and Norway were both in the complete darkness and got the same short end of the stick.
Yes, we discussed this in another thread at some point, but I did’t know sending the to Finland had anything to do with the wacky continuity. Most Norwegian comics I have from that period are more-or-less like that. I always assumed that the stories were edited in Denmark and only sent to Finland for printing. Or do you have any more information about this?
At least the Norwegian comics made some sense when it came to the continuity. At the top of the slash page were in the US it said “Stan Lee presents; the greatest space fantasy of all”, etc. in Norway it would often say something like “This story takes place immediately after Return of the Jedi”, or something like that to re-orientate you when suddenly in 1985 you got a story originally fro 1981. Was it like this in the Finish releases well? (or am I repeating myself again?)
Also, I’m curious now, what was the “surprise” in the last number? And what extra story did Sweden get? I know Sweden got more Dark Horse stories in the 90’s, but I didn’t know it applied to the Marvel ones as well.
Yeah, they had a little continuity but it wasn’t because of Finland but what was sent to here. Unfortunately I don’t have my comics at hand right now, but based on an online article which quotes the texts from the articles made by the translator in the comics, he said in 1987 that they have no idea what’s going on in the US and which number is which. In 1986 he also said that they got the material from Denmark and that in 1987 the comic structure was done in Sweden. Sweden sent the stuff to Finland and Norway. It was asked in #1 of 12 in 1987 that as the last number was published in the US, what would happen to the Finnish comics. He said that Norway would have material for 1987 and 1988 and that they would publish “everything that exists”. I don’t know if any of this was discussed in the readers’ questions in Sweden or Denmark, but those would be the places to get info how the material got here. Based on this, it would seem that they would just get more or less random stories from the US and just distributed them to our countries. I doubt that they would just be sitting on all Marvel releases and then you get stories from here and there and to have every year different number of actual releases which seems unplanned.
The surprise was that it ended in #12 1987 without any warning, it was like “this is the last number, thanks everyone” even though previously there was talking about the next year and new “clone wars movies”. The reason was that they could not get any more material and there was nothing to be done. Probably Marvel didn’t care at that point?
Sweden got #92 which wasn’t released here.
Yep, that’s awful. I own the BD collection. One can only wonder what they are thinking when they have poster art like this available:

Why? They have a franchise with endless potential for new stories.
Everything will be remade/rebooted eventually. Casablanca, The Godfather, and yes even Star Wars.
There is really no evidence for this claim at all.
There have been two tv series based on Casablanca. One in 1955 and the second in 1983.
Also, Barb Wire.
😛
