I could very well be wrong but a handful of the photos on some of those pages look strikingly similar to the actual movies, I’m quite convinced that the shot of luke looking through his binoculars is from the original film.
Nope, it’s a production photo number 5.

I have always wondered why people do not use the photos in the 1978 Star Wars Storybook for reference when doing color corrections . https://www.starwars.com/news/parenting-padawans-5-reasons-vintage-star-wars-storybooks-stand-the-test-of-time
Because those are production photos, not film stills.
^ really , they look like photos from the film , it even says full color photos from the film . although there is one in there that has Vader without his cape while " sensing a presence " that was probably a still . These pictures are very much the way I remember the film looking in the theater . I think some may be production photos but not all , but I have no proof , do you ?
From the film means from the movie, not the actual film print itself. Very few images before the 90s were actual screenshots because you couldn’t make a “screenshot” before computers. This applies to all movies, pretty much none of the images are film stills but production photos. Only some effect shots were used as promotional material, like DS trench. I have the production photo catalogues and they are all from them.

I really liked Shira Brie in the Marvel series. She was so good - in fact that whole era of Marvel SW was so good - that I actually expected her to be in RoTJ. I didn’t follow her story after RoTJ - I know she became Lumiya but I’m not really up to speed on all that. She should’ve been the ‘other hope’ IMO…
Well, that was a surprise pick for a first name in a new thread, but I agree completely. She was great and it’s too bad she got the shaft too quickly. She could’ve used more story time, even after she turned dark. And I don’t mean explaining everything, just making her more present before and after to make a deeper impact.

The Cinematography of “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi”
http://billsfilms.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-cinematography-of-empire-strikes.htmlI recommend reading it.
That is a good read and true. I remember vividly Angel talking about how poorly ROTJ was framed on this forum while he tried to make the shots more interesting and un-centered.

I think The Last Jedi is a pretty cool title, but it’s just unfortunate that the film isn’t. If the film would’ve been completely different and I mean completely, the title itself is very intriguing and mysterious. Kind of like old EU, as it has been used by Marvel before.
Best:
Star Wars
The Empire Strikes Back (I have to say, this one also has the most kick-ass translation, “Empire’s Counterattack” (of course it sounds goofy in English but the translation to me is better than the original)
The Last Jedi (btw the new ones haven’t been even translated, damn you Disney)
Meh:
Return of the Jedi
Revenge of the Sith
The Force Awakens
Lame:
The Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones
A New Hope

I think everyone peaked in TESB, I don’t think there’s a single actor that sticks out negatively.
From the new ones, I really like Daisy but the material she’s been given doesn’t do her justice. I think she’s a great young actress. Adam also is so effortless that you don’t actually see it, but when you see him in interviews he’s completely different from an intense, unstable and sensitive guy. And he also looks like 10 years older IRL.

In the Star Wars universe, what kind of pilots are there?
Luke wanted to get off the farm and join the Imperial academy as a pilot, so being a pilot in the military is one.
What others?
Of course there can be civilian pilots for shuttles, transports, freight ships up to a cruiser size vehicles. I doubt Luke was wanting to join the Empire or the Rebellion when he wanted to join the academy, just to get a pilot’s license or something and then gone off with that.

I’m just watching BSG on BD. This is my third time, I saw it on TV almost 20 years ago and then I watched in on my free Netflix 5 years ago. The whole box was just under 10€ and it’s been sitting on my shelf for a year, finally decided to watch it. Beautiful quality and well worth the money, this gives me the same feelings as SW still does.

Han does ALOT in ROTJ: he saves the day with Boba, he helps to get the crew into the Ewok village, he fought tooth and nail to get past the guards at the sheild generator, he placed the charges, he saved Leia from a trooper and he comforted Leia when she learned about her parents. Yeah that’s nothing.
By accident. By getting trapped. He got captured right away. Leia saved them both shooting the troopers. Yeah…

Wouldn’t the planets have been shot as separate elements and composited in?
Yes, they are matte paintings.

Is there a benefit to actually watching these versions at all today though?
They’re really the best version of the OT that we have.
Not really if you’re a member of this site.
They’re the best commercially-released versions of the OT. And I am a member of this site. Since 2006.
I said above that DarkJedi’s versions were one of the most watchable versions, IMO.
Well, that’s clearly a different thing. Mocata surely refers to the point that there would be no reason at all to watch the GOUT as “we” already have SW in 4K and many other HD options. So if you are already posting on this forum where you can get access on these goodies I’m not sure why there would be any reason to watch the GOUT anymore. Except to know the right magenta hues on your monitors.

I have a question. I have an AV receiver and all devices go through it via HDMI. When I watch anything from my computer through the receiver to my TV, it creates lag. From AV settings I’ve put it as “direct”. If I use some basic encoding like PL, the delay is about 8 ms. If I use pure direct (the sound comes exactly as it should) the delay goes to 20 ms. Any idea what’s creating the lag and how to get rid of it?

Anakin murdering younglings.
Not to pick a nit, but we never actually see the dastardly deed.
I’m pretty sure we see the hologram of it. I haven’t seen ROTS for over ten years, so I’m not 100% sure, though.

Even though maybe GL was after some fantasy, having heard ILM and production people they’ve had a little more scientific view on the film when designing ships and technology. So you can’t put it all on George as there has been a lot of thought put into things we see in the film, like what is possible and what is not in the SW universe.

Would anyone here have this in hi-res? It was used in a VHS cover that I’m using as a base for my 4K cover. Help would be much appreciated. 😃

Thanks, I’ve already seen that one but I’m looking for the original… 😦 That one has been edited way too much for the GOUT release.
