Great news, congrats! đ
Great news, congrats! đ
In my country 1996 was the last time the originals were shown and 2002 was the first time for the SEs. The SEs were still shown in 2005 but in 2009 they were the DVD editions.
Agreed. If there still was LucasArts, I think we could have several interesting games. EA is just sitting on it.
During the making of the PT, there was never a moment during filming when GL would say âfaster and more intenseâ. Do you think thatâs where some of the acting went wrong?
It is one point, yes. I think he changed his motto to âslower and more boringâ during the PT.
I though this was a fun collage.
I think there was a reel or two from the beginning by poita or someone, which as is looked better than the grindhouse. Maybe someone could do some correction on it and splice it in with the grindhouse to make it the best available right now before 4K80.
Theyâre talking about âthe originalâ, but is it the original original or the SEs?
Anyways, without proper color grading and audio mastering they can still f it up, if it ever gets a release.
I bought another Jedi Challenges AR set to try multiplayer. And⌠it doesnât really work. Single player is still fun and exciting half a year later, but unfortunately it doesnât work for 2. Since the blades arenât real, the game makes all the decisions when to attack and defend and how. It was pretty unclear to even know what exactly to do, and I got hit even though I went down to the ground. It was a mess. I didnât try the other fight mode, though, just dueling.
Thanks for the response. If it gets closer, let me know and Iâll send these to you as these should be finished now. Otherwise Iâll send these after watching the films, Iâm just not sure when that will happen yet as it depends on various things and possibly other people.
Do you have any updates regarding the deadline for the new release? đ My subs are now done and updated, I just have to sit and watch all the films again to see how they run from start to finish.
- Star Wars
Slight changes :
- A New Hope
Nooooo.
Is it correct to assume, that these were filmed in 4:3 in 35mm and then cropped in 1.85:1 to make the 35mm prints? If that is the case, what did they use for the DVDs, did they scan the negative or used some TV master tape?
Iâve capped the theatrical subtitles from the streaming version of Solo. For whatever reason, theyâre not on the UHD or Blu Ray.
Well that sucks. I have the BD but I didnât even care to see it again. đ Good to know.
The tape may very well be already ruined. Itâs good for the tape to be played once in awhile.
Hence the winky. You do know some movies have been natively shot in 3D?
That joke just hasnât been funny ever, and Iâve seen you stating this before too so itâs just tiresome. And I do know, but it does not make them less a gimmick compared to sound or color.
And colorization of B&W white movies is a whole different thing, itâs up there with the SEs.
I wouldnât say aspect ratios are gimmicks. Theyâre just ratios. Thatâs like saying a painting is better/worse because itâs wider. Thatâs just a standard and again, no-one is forcing anyone to use a ratio.
So are sound and color. đ
No theyâre not, unless you see in black and white or are deaf. People see colors and hear sounds outside cinema. Sure, we also see everything in 3D, but the 3D movies are artificially made to look like that from 2D and itâs all one big special effect, theyâre not actual 3D holograms or live theatre. Thatâs just the lamest and oldest excuse if someone doesnât like 3D that then there shouldnât be sound either. 3D has tried 3 times in the 67 years and it has always failed, because itâs a gimmick and adds next to nothing to the story. Only Gravity has improved from it what Iâve seen, and many has agreed. But youâre right about that, that playing with colors is a gimmick. Thatâs why I hate how modern films look like, bunch of teal & orange with huge contrast and they change it every time you travel to another country in a film. That IS a gimmick.
Iâm just wishing this whole 3D thing goes away so I can watch 2D versions on the big screen again. Aquaman was the first one ever to get a 2D release on the biggest 3D screen in a multiplex here. So I guess now is the turning point.
Edit: and just to make one more point, you can still film in B&W and without sound if youâd want to, and no-one is going to make you force to see them in color on the biggest screen or ask more money for it.
Itâs a 67 year old novelty then.
An old gimmick is still a gimmick.
Doesnât he say it in all the releases? Havenât seen the SEs for years. Yes, it was there in 1980.
Apparently Al Williamson snuck a George Lucas cameo onto page 11 of SW #43 âBetrayal at Bespinâ.
The original picture is of Lucas filming ANH in Tunisia.
Now thatâs funny.
I just saw The Hidden Fortress for the first time last week. And I have to say, it had almost nothing to with SW. If people hadnât been saying it from the beginning, I wouldnât even have made the connection myself. Pretty much the only thing is bickering soldiers that resemble R2 and 3PO (which is an insult to the droids as these people are just immoral scum to the very end), and there is one scene that is almost exactly the same in SW than in THF. Other than that, I donât see any other similarities other than some ideas like there being a general and a princess, but you can find similar architypes from many movies. The plot is completely different and so are the characters. Comparing it to SW took me out of the movie a bit since I kept waiting âis there going to be this and this scene nextâ and there never was.
I donât think anyone is saying Lucas copied the plot, just the bickering peasants bit.
You can only write hidden fortress in Google and the first suggestion is star wars after that. Just saying that the relation is way too much advertised and takes off from the film itself.
I find your argument vague and unconvincing .And I actually said that I believe that SOME are production photos but not all . Again , where is the PROOF ?
All the images that are seen in your link at least are production photos. I know this because I have them. I cannot post every single image to show it to you, itâs your choice whether you want to believe me or not, but Iâve been collecting and doing research for over 10 years for these so itâs not like I donât know what Iâm saying. Until the 90s itâs very, very rare to see an actual film still used for SW in printed media. Since youâre the one wanting proof, Iâd like to see you find me one printed image before 1997 that uses a film still and not a production photo and that is not from the DS battle, since those effect shots were used and thereâs like 20 images of them.
But I donât believe this is the thread to discuss any of this, so apologies. Letâs move on. đ
I never really put any though to it when basically everyone in the briefing vanishes except for Gold Leader.
There were people who were eager to replace âfake Wedgeâ, so might as well replace all the pilots thenâŚ
Or not.

^ I still do not buy your argument , care to share ? I could be off base but I feel you are implying that there was a still photographer present on set for every picture depicted in the storybook .I am more inclined to go with what Jonno said , I remember seeing some of those photo novels he talked about âŚthey even did one for Battlestar Galactica . Here is a link to some info on that one âŚand a really cool website to boot âŚhttp://space1970.blogspot.com/2012/11/battlestar-galactica-1978-photostory.html and now that I think of it , how were the lobby cards made for the movies ? and ultimately , canât the storybook photos still be used as a reference either way for colors ? They look great and could be a great guide for things like hue , value ,saturation and color temperature .But that may just be the artist in me talking âŚ
Well, thatâs how it was done, doesnât matter to me if you believe it or not. đ They literally took thousands of production photos and many of them look like they were from the film, but they are not. All SW lobby cards used production photos.
