Legend - Lost 125 min Director's cut (Released)
Time

Heh! First I bought the european version. Later I found out there was a director's cut. So I sold my dvd and bought the ultimate edition (theatrical + director's cut) on ebay. Then I found out the european cut was a unique cut so I bought it again. But I didn't know there's an NTSC version of the european cut.

Yeah I got an NTSC version of the European edit from Korea Region 3, runs about 95 minutes, if this is needed in anyway I'll be happy to help

my memory isn't that bad, is it? (in SW '77 - Luke misses with the grappling hook?)

It's kind of like the film "Aliens", where there was apparently a scene that was only shown on the opening day of the release, where Ripley does up her futuristic Reebok shoes. Despite the fact that numerous people have recollections of this scene, it has not appeared on any release since. So, does it exist? .

I might have to re-check, but I remember that scene appearing in a trailer or tie-in commercial

Info Wanted: versions of Metropolis?
Time
I'm a big fan of this film and own 5 different versions on DVD

The 2001 restoration is missing one shot, that is on an Australian print from 1927, and uses a shortened version of one of the SFX shots. So isn't quite the longest version that could have been made...

Supposedly there is a new 2006 restoration which is being released next year on DVD, however with no new footage.

- Restores unique shots from shorter International version
- Featurette highlighting differences between the versions, including alternate angles and shots used in the International version

Still struggling with finding time to finish Once Upon a Time in the West

I've done the English Audio (or at least a hacked version of it )

I am in the process of using better quality footage to replace the not so good Italian DVD transfer. This is quite time consuming but rewarding because I've discovered all the minute differences between the cuts. I have restored three shots not found in the Italian DVD as well. I thought about adding more, but they were alternative angles and wanted to keep the Italian version as much as possible.
All these alternative angles and shots will be included in a featurette of the differences.

I'm about 90% finished with the video side of things.

Might have a good crack at finishing this at the weekend

5acrifice & joebshmoe, PM me if you want to obtain copies

i mean clint eastwood and eli wallach's voices just don't sound right. I'm suprised with all the tech and software possessed by
hollywood the new adr can just sound so terrible
. can one make the new dubs sound more like their original voices. is it possible for one to correct their voices.

if one could make this happen please do .

i just can't stand the dead chicken scene with tuco sounding 75 years old.
can one correct
their voices if so that would be cool.

thanks

cato

Yeah I find the new ADR very jarring, which is why I left in the original Italian audio and put subtitles instead. I thought about mono-ising the 5.1 track for those scenes, but preferred this route.

A very cool project. I've been waiting FOREVER to get Duck you Sucker and both Dollars here in the states. (I really wish the new Good bad Ugly had the option to watch the shorter version with the original audio). Side question: For purely educational purposes, is there anywhere to see the butchered short version of Once upon a time in America?

Don't know for sure but I think the shorter edit might have been put out on VHS in the 80s. The restored longer international cut wasn't released on home video until the 90s.

Ok a brief update of my progress on Once Upon a Time in the West:

Have finished the English audio, and now working on integrating the better quality Paramount DVD footage into my extended cut.

I have decided to restore a brief shot found in the shorter version too, maybe I'll add a couple more.
This means this version will be the longest yet

This is my most complicated edit yet, so bear with me......

Info: 2006 GOUT DVD using 'Faces' PCM Sound?
Time
I read somewhere that the SE/2004 soundtrack is based on the 70mm soundtrack, so all the alternative sounds and dialogue are there.
It would be possible I think using the SE soundtrack, if you revert back to GOUT or PCM audio for scenes around additional scenes like the Wampa, the extra shot of Boba Fett's ship and Vader landing on his Star Destroyer, to smooth over the cracks.

Of course it wouldn't be 100% accurate, but would be pretty close I think.

Originally posted by: ADigitalManOh well. Back to the drawing board. I've created a custom mix from the GOUT AC3 file (again, I was surprised at it's quality given its bitrate) and have mixed in the four dialogue lines that were restored in the 2004 edition ("We've stopped," "There's no one here," "Tractor Beam" and "Close The Blast Doors." I don't know if the first two were present in any mix, but the first certainly was from the same take as it's surrounding lines. Above all else, I like them.

I just restored the tractor beam line and "Close the blast doors" as I grew up on the mono mix and would miss them otherwise. I personally don't like the first two you mention

Do you have plans to add back the 70mm dialogue in ESB, such as:
- Luke's "Thanks Threepio"
- Threepio saying the word "and" before saying "do take good care of yourself."
- Han's line "Come on" after saying "Transport, this is Solo. Better take off, I can't get to you. I'll get her out on the Falcon"
- Threepio saying "There's no where to go." after "Oh, this is suicide"

I quite like some of the extra lines in ESB.
