STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

One thing ImperialFighter mentioned though, regardless of what the celestial object is, who ever said the Falcon was flying there. If it was supposed to be a galaxy, and I think it is, the Falcon certainly isn't flying there. This story takes place in one galaxy, far, far away. Not two. So what does any of it matter?

Please explain that comment. I'd like to think that you were referring to a yamaluke, but even if you are the comment is pretty inappropriate.

Well, considering my Grandad was Jewish and my father-in-law was born in a camp in 1944, I don't think you can really accuse me of anything, which clearly you are. Keep your PC nonsense for your soapbox. There isn't one iota of offence in my comment. And yes, a yamaluke. Big deal. Get over it.

I also never understood why, once the shield generator had been disabled, no rebel ships seem to target the firing dish. Surely that's a target for at least one squadron? Destroy the firing points and you disarm the DS for a while at least.

According to Lando's dialog, all of the fighters that are left go into the tunnel. All 5 of them?

Haha, sounds about right! Maybe a few more fighters trailing in behind might sell it a bit better. We wouldn't have to see them for long, just an indication that more attempted to get in there.

Another problem is the fact that having huge holes in DSII would make having the Falcon go through by that twisted path pointless, if you can go straight to the core by the laser dish hole.

But surely, given how big it is, such "component" building like in those pics is a little unrealistic? If it's 900km across I find it hard to believe traditional construction techniques really matter as regards a framework. Add to that the fact that it's being built in space, and I find it even less important. That's also one of my issues with the framework we see at the end of Episode 3, it looks like the DS I has a simple metal framework but at that scale those frames would be several kilometres thick. I don't think that's likely.

EDIT: Your additional idea about Star Destroyers or similar towing decks into place, I think the same point of scale applies. On such a massive structure, that's probably how it was done but you just wouldn't be able to see it.

I was hopinh you'd repost those, I didn't want to scoop you and do it on your behalf. I think the firing crater on the first image is pretty much how I'd like to see it, or maybe a little more incomplete. Good stuff (as always).

That first pic also reminds me of something else, a face. The "hat" kinda makes it look Jewish, but I think it reminds me of Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. One of the worst horror movies ever made with some of the worst make-up you've ever seen.

Actually it's not that difficult (he says, never intending to attempt this). When the group leave Watto's shop, and Watto says to Anakin that he can finish his work and go or something, change the subtitles to make it sound like he's finished work already - something like "put your tools away and you can go" so it sounds more immediate, then just cut to the deleted scene of him with the group at the stall.

ImpFighter, you do know that you can hit the "Play" button on your remote to watch a movie as opposed to repeatedly pressing the "Pause" button, right? ;)

Ha! These threads make me feel so INATTENTIVE.

And you're all the better for it. ;-)

(4) it would be primarily a visual thing to represent the visual aspect of something thought to be damn near nothing but superstructure is in actuality 60%+ finished, and finished enough to wipe out every last rebel. STAR WARS isn't STAR TREK, which itself has some issues with the laws of physics... though STAR TREK "has" to be fairly accurate (or accurate enough) as it depicts a human future. STAR WARS is science fantasy, with laser swords and talking bigfeet. As with most mythical stories, symbolism and visuals play a big part in the storytelling to emphasize a point.

Well, science fantasy or not, it can't commit the crime of being silly. Laser swords and aliens are one thing, people not being able to read plans or see in three dimensions is another. Suspension of disbelief functions the same way regardless of the genre you're viewing; I just wouldn't buy them simply "not seeing" the firing crater on the other side. I appreciate your desire for an OMG moment, but I don't think this is the most believable way.

Granted, we have hindsight, having seen the movie already, but imagine seeing this as a 13 year old kid in a theater for the first time and seeing something that looks like nothing but model parts turn around and reveal for the first time the Death Star we all know and fear.

Well, a lot of 13-year olds might not think in three dimensions, but I do.

You know, I think that is one of the biggest problems with JEDI is how everything is just kinda there... no build-ups or crafty reveals.. everything just sort of happens. It is almost as if George was just going through the motions and didn't really care anymore.

Well, Star Wars is just as guilty of this as Jedi. The Death Star in Star Wars doesn't even get a pan down like at the start of Jedi, it's just a cut and you see it. Not one iota of surprise. Ady did his best to put some anticipation into the reveal. Right or wrong, I think Lucas does this deliberately; this is just what this fictional universe looks like. Not everything is a wow moment. Dramatically it's very underwhelming, but I'm not sure it's accidental.

Another thought on the DS2: don't know if this could be done, but what about only showing the superstructured area (from Han and Co. arriving to when the rebel fleet arrives) to make it look like the Empire has a long way to go to finish it.

When the rebel fleet show up and the Emperor says "now witness the firepower of a fully functional battle station!", the DS2 spins around to reveal the central laser dish and that side being completely finished (to provide a "holy shit!" moment). Hell, even if you didn't alter the appearance of the DS2, that would be cool to see regardless.

But surely if they know that the DS2 exists and have its plans then there is a high probability they know how much of it has been constructed - even if they don't know it's working (as it is in the film already). I don't buy that they'd be that easily fooled - this is a 3D environment they're all flying around in. The DS2 would have to remain facing away from every rebel ship at every moment for such concealment to work. If the firing crater were hidden from the outside and made to look like the normal surface of the station that might work, but just to have it facing away isn't enough.
