If that article is accurate, any meeting between Disney/Fox and Verta would have to be awfully productive. That’s not to say that an original trilogy re-release is impossible, of course.

yes, that is accurate… Thanks for making the OT community aware of this fact. We wouldn’t have found out if not for your great detective work.

Quite dickish for a newbie…

I’d say, apply a global color correction to the new scan (or, if it works, use the shot-by-shot settings you’ve used for the Silverscreen version), make it GOUT-synced and release a Grindhouse version of it. People really love the Grindhouse releases of both Empire and Jedi, so to get something out the door quickly (and hold people over until you finish another fully cleaned up version), this might be worth it.

I’ve gotta say, I didn’t really understand MV’s jab at the Silverscreen release. Sure, it’s not a sparkling, perfect restoration done by professionals, and Legacy will easily blow it out of the water… But it’s still the first and only 35mm preservation of SW on OT.com, made by fans who taught themselves how to do this shit. Team accounts and behind-the-scenes drama aside, it’s pretty cool that this stuff came out of this very community. Everyone who worked on this, assholes and cool people alike, can be proud of it.

Mike, aside from audio I’d like to know if you consider mentioning any of the international versions of the films in your pitch. After all, ILM created a ton of opening crawls in different languages, including localized versions of the SW logo, which are an important part of the nostalgia of the trilogy for us non-English-speaking folks. Maybe including a staccato of several international crawls in the pitch to highlight the importance of the trilogy all over the world might be an option.

Info: - Greedo & Jabba subtitles, theatrical placement and fonts -

That’s really a perfect match. I’ve just finished the subtitles for the German DeEd and while I’ve used “TradeGothic LT Com Bold”, it looks identical to the “Std” version of the font. All letters (including J, N, g and ?) pretty much resemble the VHS recording I have of the theatrical subs. Of course, being optically composed, there’s always differences in thickness and corner roundness caused by bleeding, so that needs to be eyeballed.

Wait, so is the BD/MKV version of Jedi 2.5 completely done and out there in the wild? I know where to find it and everything if it is but I’m at work so I can’t check, and the thread title makes it seem like it’s still the AVCHD version, and every time I try to go back a page, or go to the first page, it just brings me to the last page again.

Yeah, I’m that guy now.

It’s on kat cr

Exactly not what he asked.

So yeah, ROTJ 2.5 MKV is out.
