Just like you've obviously forgotten that there's a Myspleen invite thread ;)
Still, PM sent.
Hey, I was wondering if I was the only one who has left the TTG forums. It's sad how after BTTF everything kinda went to hell over there. Back around S&M and ToMI times it was one of my main communities over there, and now I don't even like the new design...

Adobe Encore seems to have disappeared from the planet, since Adobe no longer supports it. Finding older versions is no small task.
Encore CS6 can be dowloaded as part of Premiere CS6 when you're using Adobe Creative Cloud, so at least it's still available. No idea why they didn't update it to a CC version as well...
Regarding menus, this is how the pop-up menu on our German Blu-ray is going to look like (that is the menu that is shown during the film, so the movie keeps playing underneath):
I don't know what kind of support MultiAVCHD has for stuff like this (this one's made in Encore).
Uhm, I didn't suggest this to be used in the documentaries... it was just a bit of fun, since Harmy mentioning the GOUT only playing with black bars on all sides reminded me of that trailer, and the irony in it. Thank god I didn't post an existing internet meme GIF, or you guys would've jumped at that even more ;)

One thing that'd be great to show on that would be a picture of the 2006 DVDs - something like opening it up, showing the 2nd disc thrown in there, then played on a widescreen to illustrate how sad it is that it's the only official release of the originals, in original form. I mean, yes, I'm glad to own them, but it's sad that they're only really barely worth watching on a CRT, which you can't even really buy anywhere anymore. That's a great idea. Actually, my BD player doesn't even allow for the GOUT to be zoomed in, when I press the full screen button, it simply stretches it out and it doesn't zoom it, so the only way to watch it on my BD player is with black bars on all sides.
Regarding the bonus docs, make sure to consider the safe frames this time around!
If you need more info on those, let me know :)
That would be "AVCHD BD9".

Can I make my own AVCHD out of the MKV file and how do I do this most easily? Perhaps where I can select which audio tracks and subtitles to add.
THIS should do it.
Yeah, I thought so... I was using AviSynth for things like that, feeding the script directly into HC Encoder.
Edit: Looks like AVStoDVD is basically an all-in-one tool that does exactly the same.

On a related subject, I'd love to give this to my uncle (who's German), but he doesn't have a BD player, so it would have to be an SD DVD - is there any plan for an SD version, or should I make one myself?
I guess it would be best to do it yourself. Sharing this thing is already a pain in the ass with my slow connection, and with our Blu-ray in the works, I'd rather not upload even more versions.
The main problem with a DVD would be the framerate difference... I mean, you could take the route all German home video releases prior to the Blu-ray took and just speed the video and audio up to 25 frames per second, but this will of course change the audio to its wrong pitch again (unless we correct for it, which again reduces audio quality). I know, your uncle is probably just like my uncle and parents who wouldn't even notice that, but that wouldn't really justify a DVD version ;)
BTW, are there any tools to quickly convert an MKV to SD-DVD?

I'm hoping to share out 2.5 via AVCHD on DL-DVD. Will this be possible by simply de-muxing enough audio tracks to reduce the file size or will a re-encode be necessary?
Unfortunately the video track alone is bigger than a DL-DVD, so a re-encode will be inevitable.

and read on your ipad or other tablet
Has the "other tablet" part been confirmed anywhere?
I hope so... if anyone can help with that.
So, did anybody get that enhance digital version of the book? What exactly is it now?
Since I've never heard the original 1978 track, I have no idea if there's anything else different in the 1993 track. For the German release I have labeled it as 1978 though.
Well the German track is based on the GOUT (which was the 1993 track, I guess), but I've added some missing material from the theatrical version, which was 1978... so it's a bit difficult to pinpoint.
Holy crap... :) So this will be more of a 25GB MKV then?
10,000!? We could almost start our own thread with that!
By the way, I loved the candid foreword by Brad Bird, including some ROTJ criticism and OOT love. It's great to see books like these coming out nowadays!
Sure, I'll write something up.

Oh man, Laser....I had that down but forgot to add it so, ...my bad.
You guys have done an awesome job at having all the different languages involved and it's really appreciated!
(I'll give you a shout out next time but where's my $5?) :)
You could combine the news for the finished international Despecs, as they were all rather collaborative efforts, inlcuding Marvin's French version and Leonardo's Italian version.
And don't get me (re)started on getting stuff in return :P
Yay, my book arrived today! And in spite of Amazon.de claiming a shipping date of October 10th. YES! :)
