STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time
We badly need seeders for the NTSC version! I was seeding all yesterday. In fact I've been seeding ever since I got it (paused just long enough to burn the thing and make sure it was working). I haven't been seeding today as I needed the bandwidth for other stuff, but I've got it going again and whoa... what happened?

0 seeders, 43 peers (though in parenthesis it say 37/380, so maybe I'm reading it wrong)? C'mon people, don't tell me I'm the only person seeding? It's not hard folks, just don't delete the file off your hard drive after you download it, and keep the thing running. You can still burn and watch it... but other people want to see it too, don't you know?

The fact that the colors "feel right" AND we get the sharp picture of the 2004 editions is really great about this. More people need to see it, they don't know what they're missing!

We understand if you can't seed it forever and ever, but at least a gig or two would help!

Heh, well at least we aren't as lame as the people who waited for over a month in line to see "The Phantom Menace" right? RIGHT?? lol

Anyway...

I've now watched 3/4 of the ntsc movie on my 17in monitor (skipped around a lot looking at stuff, after all, this is 99% the same as the XVID just in better quality), and it looks great. Very impressive (especially for single layer)!

Both the saber battle and the Yavin battle still give me chills! The few creative decisions I disagree with (Vader's recolored eyes, the music at Obi-Wan's sacrifice) I can live with. I'm also glad you included 2004 Jabba as a deleted scene (I need to get my hands on some 3d glasses!). I love Jabba, even though the tail stomping gag always sucked, and I agree that the scene was unnecessary. I didn't care so much about the trailers, except the ESB one, which gets me excited for your next project!

There was a slight hiccup at the point where the officer informs Vader that the "Battlestation plans are not aboard this ship" but it turned out to just be my system (win2kpro, w/ PowerDVD5) choking because I'm seeding

However in that same scene I did notice that the rank badge on the officer's uniform seemed a little "washed out" vs. the much more colorful badges of everyone else in the movie. Apart from that minor thing (and the fact that certain inserted objects, like the new dish on the Falcon in Docking Bay 94, have a fuzzy outline) this is amazing, and by far the best fan edit of Star Wars I've ever seen... superior to the 2004 edition in virtually every way, and brings back much of the magic I felt watching the Special Edition (though I wish it was on the big screen!).

The severed hand looks fantastic! I thought I'd really miss the blood, but this looks great.

Thanks Adywan, and thanks to everyone who's uploaded and seeded. KEEP SEEDING!

Mess with Yoda's death scene in ROTJ? Please don't!

Anyway, nice trailer. I hope that Yoda shot at the end doesn't mean you're going to mess with Yoda's "Psycho face" attempt to scare Luke (that scene always cracks me and my family up whenever we watch it, Yoda is awesome throughout ESB!).

Even if HD-DVD is a "dead format" now, people are still going to have their X-Box 360's for the foreseeable future (PS3 is doing poorly as a gaming platform in comparison anyway).

Does anyone on this forum have a combo player? I wonder how those would work with this.

In any case, you could hope that a future firmware update of your player would address the issue, but whatever.

I'm for as many people being able to enjoy Ady's work as possible, and if there's something he can do to fix it, all the better, so keep the feedback rolling in! It looks like another 21-23 hours before I'll get to burn this sucka, so I'll be watching it tomorrow night, if all goes well!

We need more seeders!

That's the rapidshare stuff for the DVD-5. I'm personally still waiting on the ntsc torrent. It doesn't seem to have been posted anywhere yet... at least not that I've seen.

Nobody's PMed me yet either (no surprise). Though I'm sure people realize the reason I said that is because generally they don't like torrent url's being posted in the forums (not because I'm just lazy!).

Sorry about the pic being a little messed up. It looks perfect in the new trailer. I also think the pic does not do justice for the video.

Now THAT looks good... and combined with the original dialog, it's a change I could get behind!

Yencpowerpost is reporting reporting 21 hours left to upload, but thats because both versions are going up at once. So they will be both available within a hour or so of each other

Thanks for the correction!

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but it may not take a full 21 hours for torrents to come up, because people on the newsgroups can be downloading the pieces of it that you've already posted (rather than starting afresh when the whole thing is finally finished uploading). Plus you're on a slow connection too, right?

Anyone gonna post the new one on there???

Seeing as its being released on newsgroups first, I wouldn't expect to see a torrent for an hour or two.

Well it'll be longer than that... if it's taken six hours for ady to upload 1/4 of it so far, we've got another 15 hours to go for the newsgroup uploading... (since it sounds like it took about 12 hours for him to upload the broken version, just double that, since he's putting up both ntsc & fixed-pal).

Then someone actually needs to download the whole thing, and as long as it takes them to put up a torrent and start seeding it. It'll be slow at first with only a few people seeding, and then as word gets around and people start noticing and downloading, and then as people start to finish and seed (instead of leeching, ie: logging off after it's finished), then it'll become available to the rest of us.

So I'm guessing sometime tomorrow evening it'll be available, and then I'll start downloading, and I'll be able to watch it sometime on Tuesday.

Idea & Info: Highlander (1985) US theatrical cut, anyone?
Time
The first Quickening is modified. In the DC version, the energy of the quickening that surrounds Fasil's body and levitates it actually forms a "phantom head" (where his head used to be) made out of energy, that wasn't there before.
Now that I watched one of the trailers more closely, I see this appeared in it, so I could be wrong on this point...

UNLESS of course, this special effect was unfinished in the US cut and tweaked in the international versions (since trailers aren't always identical to the theatrical release of a film).

I'd have to go back and check my US non-DC Vhs tape over the summer...
