Oh, yeah, I think that would work too. Like Dom said, if you’re just able to clean up the line a little more, it’ll be great!

Nice! I may tinker with it a little more then

Regarding a possible Plo Koon voice, I managed to put my hands on a lot of good quality lines from the old Clone Wars Adventures game. There is a line from Plo which says “You’ve shown great valor as a Jedi Knight”; it could fit both the themes of the scene and Rey’s personal arc.

Which line is that from?

The original line says “Captain, you and I will deal with them…personally” from the LEGO Force Awakens game.

And Knight of Kalee, I like the idea of demoting Hux, but I don’t thing that first run quite works for me, unfortunately. Is there a recording of Kylo saying “Captain” kind of mockingly? Like, “I sense unease about my appearance, Captain?” We know who Hux is, so when Kylo calls him “Captain” and Hux responds, I think we can put it together (without saying “Captain Hux”).

My thoughts were keeping this audio (since it was the clearer “Captain” pronunciation among Kylo’s LEGO voice lines), but having more of a seconds-long pause before he says Captain: "I sense unease about my appearance…“Captain” Hux? This way it may come across more mockingly or spiteful. Since Kylo is masked the Captain Hux part could be pushed later without issue.

I think I missed this change, but does Kylo now refer to General Hux as a Captain? would definately add small bit of development for him in his reason for betraying First Order, other than trying to sabotage Kylo; assuming it would be at “sense unease in my appearance Captain Hux”

That suggestion was originally brought up in the general Redux thread.

I like the idea of demoting Hux to captain, I even ended up making a rough mockup of how it would sound like with help of a fortunate LEGO line.

Of course Hal you can choose to not include this in V2 (after all it’s only a first attempt) but it struck me as an interesting way to make Hux’s heel-face turn slightly more understandable.

Seeing Pantora come to life was a big highlight for me, as I had a soft spot for this planet since it was vividly described back when Dark Disciple came out. I liked the rich details, the variety of alien species (something that Rebels lacked, probably owing to its smaller budget) and the used, OT-like aesthetic of the city.

Fennec was great too and I’m looking forward to seeing her become a recurring character. Also who could be the mysterious client who hired Fennec? I don’t think it’s the Kaminoans since they willingly let Omega go in the first place.

I messaged Hal about it and we agreed it would be cool to add him to the Jedi voices speaking to Rey. I thought I’d open it up to everyone to decide what he says.

So cool! This would be a fine addition to the collection.

Maybe we could try to expand the voices scene to fit a couple of additional lines in it? Sors’s voice could be one of them, and I also tried to add in Plo Koon’s once.

One could also fit in an extra Anakin line in there.

Why the concept of Force Ghosts was scrapped from TFA and TROS

I don’t know why the idea of Anakin giving Kylo a talking to caught on so much. It sounds like it would have been a god awful scene, no offense. It must’ve crossed their mind but I also kind of doubt it was something that was ever seriously planned to happen.

Mostly because one of Kylo Ren’s earliest defined traits was his reverence towards Vader and wanting to finish his mission (even if this was later abandoned in TLJ, the Vader mask returned for TROS). Anakin’s appearance is often brought up as a way to subvert Kylo’s misguided thoughts about his grandfather, and I’ve seen it endorsed by many people who think it would bring the 9-film saga full circle to have Anakin play a meaningful part in the finale.

Totally valid. I was just thinking in the context of what could be done with a less ambitious rearrangement of existing elements.

In that case you could merge Starkiller Base and Exegol, and instead of the superweapon aspect have the remnant Imperial fleet instead, maybe keep it being an ancient Sith world in order to tie it better to Snoke or the Knights of Ren even if Palpatine is not present in this.

The problem with leaving in “I am all the Sith!” is that Rey’s new “I’m a Jedi!” response has to specifically be to Sheevie’s “a SCAVENGER GIRL is no match for the power in me!” statement, right? (edit: just as the poster above said!) Perhaps swapping Palpatine’s lines would work. Here’s a crude mockup of that idea (forgive the unpolished audio and lack of ghosts).

Edit: Does Rey ever refer to herself as a Jedi before this? I know Luke does, but I think that’s alright. It’s just that for this to land well, I think it has to be a ‘breakthrough’ in her confidence in herself, overcoming that self-doubt (which would be undermined if she’d previously considered herself a Jedi).

Wow, the exchange here actually made me feel something. The pacing works better here than with the Sith line completely removed imo. Amazing and flawless work!

Heres a mockup showing the Tatooine matte painting from ANH into the last shot of the Falcon leaving Tatooine. This is just a thing I mocked up in Photoshop and is not an actual 3D render, although the Falcon is the only 3D thing in that shot.

I attempted to give it that overly-teal look the color grading for TROS had, and added a lens flare which is JJ’s signature look.

Looks great! May look even better with the 2 suns in frame.

Did Maul turn good before he died? Obi Wan gave him a proper burial. I want to think he turned to the light side of the force. I remember people on YouTube saying Maul turned good, but did he really?

He did not. He found peace in his final moments knowing he would be avenged, and let go of his hatred for Obi-Wan. But revenge is not the light side way.

The Clone Wars: Refocused [COMPLETE]

The only thing that’s major that I’m unsure about is whether or not to have the actual scene where the clones nearly kill their brothers by firing squad. It’s nice and tense and it’s nice to show the clones reject their orders but we get a lot of clones rejecting orders here and they do ultimately all turn on Krell, so I think we can go from the INTENTION to execute them to the interruption of the ‘Umbaran’ attack, which turns out to be an attempt at execution anyway.

I won’t promise I’ll have this out today, but it can’t take too long…

Please include it! It’s a powerful, moving scene, and I think it’s important to keep the first time the clones are shown disobeying orders as a collective (rather than just the wild cards such as Fives, Jesse or Hardcase) setting up the stage nicely for the moment when they turn against Krell after the fake Umbaran attack.

I have a feeling Dogma may appear in the Bad Batch so I’d be wary of reducing his role too much, especially as he’s the one who finishes off Krell.

I’ve just rewatched the original Heroes/Peace duology immediately followed by your edit.

It flows surprisingly well! I’m glad to see some of the padding go away (particularly the infiltrators arriving on Coruscant and the visit to a senator in Pursuit) while retaining the better (and they’re great) parts, all of it making for an exciting episode (at least for a politics-heavy one) and a refreshing change of pace for your season premieres.

Maybe the opening text could state how the deregulation of the Banking Clan would favor the commission of more clones. This point was somewhat explained in the original newsreel but got somewhat lost in the restructure. On the other hand the actual bank deregulation is not such a big plot point as in the original so it may not be necessary.

I missed Ahsoka’s “I’m not so bad, am I?” exchange with Lux. The cut is seamless, I’ll grant you that, but I honestly liked that moment and it Lux’s “I’m not so bad” moment later has more weight.

(Side-note) Apparently this episode took a toll on the production budget because the recycling of models for the Parliament extras is very obvious. Nothing to do with your edit of course but I had never paid attention to that detail.

At 17:29 there’s a stray frame of the fish guy.

At 17:39, the bar music fades off a bit too late in my opinion. It’s a bit jarring hearing it play over the energy central for like three seconds.

Maybe the Separatist covert terrorist attack could do with a bit more context. Of course you don’t have to include the entire sequence of the infiltrator droids receiving orders and arriving at Coruscant. You could include either the short scene when Dooku addresses Grievous (though shifted to after Dooku talk with the corrupt senators, and without the ‘My master’s plan…’ bit) or the moment where the disguised droids are activated by Grievous’ command and head for the generator. Then you can cut directly to the infiltration and massacre.

The voiceover lines during Padmé’s undercity walk didn’t feel out of place. It’s a little used resource in Star Wars but it helped a lot to convey Padmé’s mindset and add to Mina’s relevance.

I liked the repurposed epilogue, including the ominous part with the Kaminoan senator, and the more feel-good ending when they toast to Mina. However, I still missed the talk between Palpatine and Mas Amedda. For one it was good seeing Palps actually being pissed at Padmé and not having his own way for once. And I don’t have a problem with Palps acting villainous or suspicious, since the series kind of assumes its audience is already familiar with the Lucas saga.

So, seeing that we’re already mulling over the DSII Duel Scene, has anyone ever considered using the editing trick of cutting out a frame every time before the lightsabers hit to make the fight a little more brutal? I think with how we’re accentuating how Rey is somewhat losing herself to the Dark Side during this scene, I think it would be a good albeit subtle change to the scene.

Cutting out frames does indeed help, since in the original they wait like 1 second for each strike, this doesn’t really convey Rey’s mood. I tried doing this once, and the result is almost prequel-like (in the good sense) in some of the most intense parts.

It also would work much better for those editors using Duel of the fates or Battle of the heroes to rescore the duel.

Deepfake Ideas - Index and Discussion

Replace the Hayden Christensen force ghost with better Hayden footage, with signs of aging, a less cringey facial expression and maybe his ROTS clothes.

Maybe replace a secondary First Order officer in TFA or TLJ with Allegiant General Pryde (or even an Imperial officer in the OT if there’s footage of young Richard E. Grant).

Deepfake the bearded Rebel soldier on Endor with aged-up Temuera Morrison (Captain Rex). I’ve seen only concept stills for this idea.

After the Kenobi series comes out, deepfake uncle Owen and aunt Beru with their middle-aged selves or at the very least redub them.

Replace the infamous Fake Windu at the ending of TPM.

Knight, if you’re up for a bit of homework, I’d be very interested in your review of my episode if it’s watched with the three original episodes which went into it freshly in mind. No obligation if that’s too much of an ask though!

No problem! In a few days fortunately I’m getting a recess week from university so don’t worry about asking me if I can take a look once I get that much-needed free time.

I’m really liking your version of the scene, specially how you’ve kept most of Ben’s original dialogue. The japor snippet and the Padmé reference are really good additions IMO. Everything is coming full circle.

The only bit maybe I’m not getting is why Anakin isn’t referred by name rather than only as Ben’s grandfather.

<strong>The Bad Batch</strong> (animated series) - a general discussion thread
Time

It’s clear that the Bad Batch arc in TCW s7 was blatantly setting up this show, since the batchers themselves show very little character development and remain relegated to classic archetypes (the leader, the grumpy one, the muscle, the nerd…), so it’s hard to pick a favorite (barring Echo, of course). I think this lack of depth is what had many people wishing they had used Delta Squad instead. But I’m sure the Bad Batch will be a fun ride and they’ll finish the series run as well-rounded characters.

I’m currently rewatching the key TCW episodes and I never get tired of the peak moments of this series. Hopefully BB will reach similar heights.
