Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Redux Ideas thread
Time

I believe the new planets that could be do-able, make sense in-universe and are significant enough are

 • Naboo
 • Corellia
 • Kashyyyk
 • Cantonica (Maybe that shot with the broom kid could be repurposed)
 • Kijimi.

If I had to choose one planet from the expanded universe, I’d say Nevarro.

That way one has representation for all trilogies and the spin-offs, including planets that are significant to the heroes in some way (Corellia, Kashyyyk), or that were seen placed under a nasty First Order regime (Kijimi), making the montage have more of a catharsis feel rather than adding planets for the sake of it.

Funnily, according to Wookieepedia, Obi-Wan did use a mild form of Force healing to awaken Luke after he was beaten up by the Tusken.

 • Palpatine Force-drained Padmé to save Darth Vader’s life.
 • The two Sith Wayfinders were designed by Darth Bane after he issued the Rule of Two, and were inherited by generations of Sith masters and apprentices.
 • Snoke’s creation was originally a failed attempt from Plagueis to cheat death. Palpatine later “inherited” him and repurposed him for his own means.
 • The shady counselors that accompanied Palpatine on the second Death Star in ROTJ had direct ties to the Sith Eternal cultists of Exegol. The reason they only appeared in two scenes and then vanished is because Palpatine sent them to prepare his clone body as a last-measure contingency.
 • Luke Skywalker’s Jedi academy was called the Praxeum (nod to Legends).
 • Ewoks ate a bunch of Stormtroopers.
 • Hondo Ohnaka was a part of Lando Calrissian’s fleet.
 • Finn is set to become Rey’s first Jedi Padawan.

I’ve found another interesting fan-edited scene on YouTube and it’s made me wonder if I should include something like it in my ANH edit. What do you guys think?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPa2p50MuQ4

Pretty nice idea, the voice acting for that trooper was very well done.
though how would the order of the scenes go?

I don’t know if Vader talking to Piett is necessary though, mostly to keep continuity with ESB.

Thanks so much everyone! I’ve gotten submissions from 8 people now, and I’ve sorted through all of your takes to find the best from each person. Right now, I’ve essentially re-created my demo video using each of your voices. I’m hoping to get some more submissions in the next few days, and then I guess we’ll have to decide how to choose.

My current plan is this: Pick the best line delivery for each scene from each person and upload a video for everyone who submitted. This means I would not show multiple line options (e.g., if “Solo’s Wookiee” would be included, “The Mighty Chewbacca” would not), and then everyone could discuss (or maybe even vote on) whose voice works best for the four speaking knights.

EDIT: Or should I make a video for each Knight, so we can compare the performances back-to-back?

If we could get some female voices and some people with different accents, that would be especially helpful! If anyone here knows someone who could provide those kinds of voices, I’d love to hear them!

I’m Chilean, though I don’t know what kind of accent does my voice reflect lol

Return of the Jedi Renewed (released)

Hey there!

I generally liked the edit a lot. ROTJ is much more pleasing to watch thanks to your visual enhancements. Pacing was on-point, trimming some unnecessary or childish scenes, like those with the Ewoks (for example, Leia meeting Wicket, for all of its charm, drags the middle act quite a bit, and its absence now makes the Ewoks seem a bit more menacing at the beginning).

I loved the color correction overall. The brighter Endor was superb and much more distinct from a generic redwood forest. I don’t have any issues with the duller throne room. I understand some people thinking the Tatooine Dune Sea sequence now looks way too pale, but honestly I like it that way, and it fits nicely with the Tatooine scenes from The Mandalorian so that’s a bonus. I kind of missed the SE sarlacc (personal preference) but it’s nothing compared to what your fan-edit gets right.

Music was mostly great, specially for the sequences that previously had none. The new music during the speeder chase was the highlight for me, very well done. The moment where Luke and Vader sense each other with the Force over Endor was also made much more chilling. There were only a couple of times the changes bugged me a little but it was more of it being mismatched themes (like Jyn Erso’s theme for Han and Lando’s farewell) than the score itself being unfitting. So the music gets my seal of approval too.

Nice job!

I had an idea for the first Knights of Ren scene when Kylo Ren is getting his helmet reconstructed. I read somewhere that that scene was originally intended to be a ritual, so maybe having all of the Knights saying that line together… maybe with someone being a little louder than the others. I don’t know how feasible it would be, but almost making it like chanting.

I have a feeling the knights would be better suited with a British accent…

Personally I feel it would be awesome if more POC voiced main characters in SW (like the Knights of Ren) and not using ridiculous stereotypical bullshit voices like jar jar. If it’s possible we could really use a diverse sounding set of voices for the KoR.

I second. Since we are following the fan-canon and pretend the Knights of Ren are Luke’s former padawans, they sure should have a diverse set of accents and voice tones.

Does someone know where to find isolated clone trooper dialogue? (can be Temuera Morrison or Dee Bradley Baker)

I wanted to match the old Rebel guy on Endor with Captain Rex, by dubbing him with one clone line after Han gives him some orders while he goes to find Leia. The soldier’s face is conveniently looking away from the camera when he nods, so it won’t cause lipsyncing issues.

I tried looking around for Battlefront II clone trooper voice lines, but I found nothing similar to “affirmative”, “yes sir” or “right away sir”.

Just curious, what do you think of V1 of the ANH Vader and Sidious scene I linked that I made?

Very interesting concept! It gives Vader more of a personal agenda, rather than being Tarkin’s lackey as the film itself suggests. If Palpatine’s hologram and lip-syncing can be done in a convincing way, I support it 😄

I see, do you have suggestions for how I may be able to do that?

It has to do mostly with the cinematography. Most of the Death Star scenes aren’t shot very creatively, which contrasts quite a bit with the dynamic, up-close, fast-moving “camerawork” of the Ben/Vader redone duel. You may only need to trim the most over-the-top moments, like the bit where Vader throws his saber to Ben.

I’ve just found this fandub of Jar Jar that I actually quite enjoy. I think I may include it in my fan-edit

I came across that edit a couple months ago and I liked it, as the new voice and specially the redone dialogue paint him as a completely different character, more like an everyman. How do you plan to implement it? because there’s not many of those new Jar Jar scenes that have been released.

For the moment, here’s the opening of the movie, restructured: https://vimeo.com/430217410

I made the “Find me” calls as Kylo picks up the Wayfinder almost subliminal. And when we see the Falcon in hyperspace, I removed the thunder continuing to roll by using some audio from the Falcon in hyperspace from ANH.

That reworked opening act worked a lot better I was expecting. Great job!

I favor the first act restructuring (Exegol, then Rey, then Falcon mission). Keeps the actual edit conservative in terms of story, but reduces the breakneck pacing.

The Goonies moment with the Dagger has to go. When 3PO reads the inscription he speaks some kind of coordinates, those can be easily handwaved as the actual spot on the wreckage where the Wayfinder lies. Add the Sith whispers while Rey’s climbing the ruins and you’ve got a mostly credible scene.

I don’t know if cutting Leia’s knowledge of Rey’s lineage would work seamlessly, because one of the main things that makes Rey change her mindset during the Luke pep-talk moment, is the fact Leia still trained her and accepted her despite the risk. But I agree Luke should be the one that didn’t know, at least prior to his passing (He was isolated from the Force, and Luke knowing about Palpatine doesn’t fit that well with his genuine surprise and fear of Rey’s dark side in TLJ).

It would be great if DOTF can be incorpored in some way during the faceoff between Sidious and Rey.

Have you considered that dialogue reshuffle someone did for the opening scene, where Palpatine establishes the Dyad as being a thing from the beginning?

Compared to Duel of the Fates, Battle of the Heroes suits the fight better in terms of pacing and emotion, but I believe it’s too linked to Anakin and Obi-Wan’s fight. There’s a combined Battle of the Heroes and DOTF track made by Samuel Kim which I placed over the duel once out of curiosity. It would fit pretty well if it weren’t for the fact it doesn’t resemble John Williams very much.

But I really think DOTF should be in this movie in some way, mostly because I’m still bitter that Lucasfilm used the theme to promote this movie but wasn’t in the actual cut. But it also would be a nice nod to the scrapped Episode 9 script of the same name.
